Hi everyone! I am at 36.5 weeks with twins. I have been reading posts from this website since about week 20 and have found the forums to be very relevant and helpful. Thanks for all the info so far!

We just had an ultrasound today and because both babies are breech, we scheduled a c-section for 11/20--13 days away! I have been worried about this the entire pregnancy: the knowing that they are scheduled to come a certain day. Does that make sense? I feel pretty mentally prepared most days, but now I am wondering how I am going to make it through the anticipation of the next 13 days. I do not like medical procedures and hospital "stuff", and while I have come to terms with the idea of having a c-section, I get queasy knowing when it is about to happen. Any suggestions for getting through the next 13 days calmly and without too much worry?

That said, we feel so lucky to have made it this far and we are so excited for them to be here soon!

Oh! I should mention that I am having trouble sleeping these days, hence posting at almost 2 in the morning!

Welcome and congratulations on your twins!!

You've done so great to get to this point. And if all goes as planned, getting to 38 weeks is amazing. Have you done all your nesting to get ready for their arrival? That's what I did when I knew my scheduled date was coming. Of course, I didn't get it all done and had them a week before schedule, but kids will do that to you. :) I would just try to relax. Do some stuff for you...pedicure maybe since I'm sure you can't reach your toes. :) If you are feeling really industrious you could even get some meals made up and frozen for those first days and weeks that you are home with them and life is a blur. Do you have family/friends to help out? Maybe work on a schedule for them to come over and help with stuff around the house. Recovering from a c-section there will be a lot you can't do for yourself (laundry, cleaning, etc), so every little bit of help that's offered...TAKE IT!!

Good luck getting through the next 13 days!! And it will all be worth it when you meet your little ones!!

Congratulations and welcome, so glad that you've decided to join us :)

Ditto everything Michelle said... Pedicure, hair maybe? Frozen meals, fold and refold newborn clothes lol! But mainly just try to rest up as much as you can, perhaps read some baby sleep books, I liked No Cry Sleep (Elizabeth Pantley) and Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child (Weissbluth), watch some DVDs..

That's all great advice! I am going to say definitely get your hair done! I didn't get back to a hair salon for eight months after my girls were born and it showed. ;)

    Congrats and welcome to TS!

    :welcome: to TS! And congratulations!

I had my twins via csection at 37 weeks and yes the anticipation stinks! Like all the other ladies said, keep yourself busy, get everything organized you can, treat yourself to some pampering bc you will be hard pressed for time once their born! I had a boy and a girl twins, with my pedicure I got one foot painted hot pink and the other bright blue! My OB loved it he did the same with his scrubs (pink too blue bottoms)

By this point sleep was hard to come by the only place I could get comfortable was the the recliner so thats where I slept till I delivered.

Good luck with the delivery and keep us updated!!

Congratulations and welcome to Twinstuff. My advise is try to rest and sleep as much as you can. The notion of sleep and rest will change quickly for you :), so take advantage of the fact that you are able to just lay in bed/couch/recliner and rest. If you can't sleep, just play on a computer/tablet/phone or read or watch watever movies/shows you like, but make sure you rest. Life as you know it is about to CHANGE -it will be different :), but of course, more exciting also. Also make sure you (still) drink a LOT of water.

In my experience, the C-Section wasn't a big deal, I recovered quickly and it didn't bother me too much. I hope you recover quickly also.

Do you know what kind of twins will you have - as in boys, girls or one of each?

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy,

    Monica

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I am definitely going to take your advice! It is funny, I have days with so much energy and can do more nesting-type things like make frozen meals, clean a little around the house. Then I have days with no energy at all and spend a lot of time in bed resting (more and more it is the no energy days). Again, I just feel lucky to have made it to this point in pretty good health. I give so much credit to everyone who was on bedrest or had the twins really early. You are awesome!

We didn't find out the gender, so that will be a big surprise! At different times during the pregnancy, I have felt different ways. At this point, we are really not sure what to expect :) It just occurred to me the other day that soon this huge mystery is going to be solved!

You just need to listen to your body, if its saying to rest, just rest, if you have energy to get things done then great. I was on modified bed rest and had to learn I couldn't stress about everything ... I didn't get to really "nest" the way most women do but my husband did it for me. Lol.

What type of twins are you having? Mine were di/di a boy (Jackson) and a girl (adalynn) they just turned 3 months! Yikes time goes by too quickly!

Everybody has given great suggestions thus far. What I would add is:

-If you are doing baby books, fill in all the stuff non-baby related: names, prices, etc.
-Meditation to help with feelings of birth/c-section worries. Perhaps a doula would be helpful for you to help process some of this stuff.
-Wash and ready newborn, 0-3m and maybe 3-6m stuff as depending on how big they are at birth you may or may not need all of the sizes. They also grow so very quickly that it's handy to be ready.
    -Call/hang out with your friends.

I just remembered I went for a manicure/pedicure the day before my scheduled C-section - it made me feel better about myself - plus nails show in close-up pictures with newborns :). They didn't make me remove my nail polish for the C-section.

Thats awesome! We knew we were having a boy very early on but our girl kept us guessing pretty close to the end, I think it was 30 weeks when we confirmed it and I delivered at 37. We would have Bern happy regardless, we just wanted healthy babies and they were! Jackson was 5.11 lbs and adalynn was 4.58 lbs and they're both over 10 lbs now! Little chunky monkeys and I love it! Makes it a bit of a challenge carrying the car seats but heck its a great work out! Lol

I was terrified of having a c-section - as Michelle suggested, meditation really helps with anxiety and stress - the gas too which I hung on to for dear life while getting the epidural Lol! The best advice I took, after the c-section was to get up and keep moving - this really helped me heal quicker - if you have time, I think there is a "sticky" at the top of the expecting forum on c-sections if you want some more info.

This is a great suggestion. NEVER turn down help! People love to help but if you turn them down sometimes they won't ask again. Be blunt, most people are thrilled to do anything. I am really independent and it was hard for me to accept help, but with twins it is good advice.
In the beginning there will be lots of offers of help. Take them up on it so they are still asking later when things get more complicated.
