Good morning!! I just found out last week that we are expecting twins and am still in a bit of shock about what it all means and the ramifications of having 2 babies. I have 2 stepchildren that are 21 and 23 and then we have a daughter who is almost 17 months

We are just now 7 weeks along and I know there is still a risk of losing one or even both of them still but we were able to see the heartbeats last week so I am hopeful that things will continue to go well. I am scared to death but excited at he same time which I am sure many of you can relate too.

Congrats on your twins- heartbeats are a good sign.

Welcome to TS, Kristen! I found out that we were having twins pretty early, too (maybe 8 or 9 weeks?) and was a little nervous until we made it out of the first trimester. It didn't stop me from telling everybody we knew and it all worked out!

You're about as far along as I was with my twins this time of year. I remember finding out around this time, but I didn't find out it was twins until November.

    Welcome & congratulations!

Thank you all. The knowledge that you are having 2 babies at once definitely takes some getting used to. We knew it was a risk since we did iVF but with my old eggs and poor egg quality we didn't honestly think it was very likely and neither did the docs. In spite of all that, here we are and I know I will have lots of questions as time goes on

Yes, we are huge OSU buckeye fans and are anxiously awaiting next weeks game against MSU!!! Go BUCKS!!!

:welcome to TS! And congrats! Do you know what type of twins you're having?

I found out at 7 weeks that I was having di/di twins, I just wanted to get through the first trimester, not saying all the fears go away after that but they become less.

You'll love this forum and everyone on ir! I dont know where I would have been without this forum during my pregnancy, this was not my first twin pregnancy it wad my first pregnancy ever and anytime I ever had a question or just needed advice I could turn here.

    Good luck with everything! !

As far as we can tell I am pretty sure we are having di/di twins. It is possible still that they are identicals as there is a bit higher risk of that with the assisted hatching we did during the IVF cycle but it appears they are di/di. I will rest a little bit easier after my next ultrasound next week if they are still growing well with good heartbeats but know I won't start to relax a little until we are out of the first tri. Thanks so much for the welcome.

Di/di's can still be identical, it just means 1 egg split into two early on, but if they're in 2 separate sacs and 2 separate placentas, these are also the safest type of twins to have.

I understand the fear though ... Throughout the pregnancy you'll have all sorts of milestone dates to hit , the big one obviously getting to the 2nd trimester.
