Once the twins are born I was thinking of one sleeping in the crib by my bed and the other in a pack and play.
Do you think a pack n play is safe??? Also which ones are the best?

Yes many people have used pack n play's to let their kids sleep in. They are safe. My only suggestion is don't spring for the "twin" one, I did and it totally wasn't worth it. The upper basket weight was only about 5 pounds higher than a singleton one, and with two babies we hit that weight limit fast. I prefer Graco products, and it's really just up to how much you want to spend, and how many extra's you want on it.

I didn't need or want one with the changing system or hanging baskets or anything on it, so I had 2 of the very basic ones and loved both of them. My twins slept together in one when we went on vacation at 5/6 months of age.

We used bassinettes for 2 months before we moved the twins to their own room and cribs. We did have a pack n play that had a bassinette feature which was helpful in changing diapers. My kids slept in a pnp when we were away from home. My twins never slept together.

We put the girls in a regular size co-sleeper, together, until they were about three months old. I was nursing, so I liked the cosleeper because it was attached right to my side of the bed, such that I could just grab them and nurse, not getting up.

I agree, though, don't get the twin pack n play, we got one as a shower gift, and wasn't any better than a regular one.

my two slept together in a regular single pack-n-play with bassinet insert in our room until they out grew the wt. then they moved into a crib, still together and still in our room.
at four months my DD got mobile and would wiggle over and wake up her brother. she was sleeping through the night by that point so i moved her into their room in her own crib.
DS remained in our room in a crib for 2 or 3 more weeks. he would wake once or twice a night but would go back to sleep when i gave him the pacifier. it was just easier for me if he was close.
once he was sleeping better through the night he moved into their room. separate cribs.

naps... they nap separately and have since just before 4 months. DD in their room and DS in a pack-n-play in our room (he doesn't wake up if i have to sneak in).
I think i will leave them separate for naps for quite a while. even though i wake them within 30 minutes of each other to keep them on the same schedule. that 30 extra minutes is critical for my DS who needs more sleep.

you will figure it out as you go based on their personalities and individual sleep needs.

the pnp we have is graco. i like it.

My girls are still in the regular sizes co-sleeper at 3.5 months. We will be moving them into one crib in another room shortly because they can roll over now and need more space. Not long after that we will put them in separate cribs but in the same room.

They only slept together in the pnp when we went on vacation when they were 5/6 yrs old. But they did share a crib in our room until they were 9 months old, when we moved them into their room in separate cribs.

Our twin girls slept in the same crib for about 6 months. They also shared a pack n play when we'd go on vacation. The PNP came in handy too when we'd need to split the girls up for nap time in different rooms (one girl in her crib and her sister in the PNP in another room).

ack! or should I say "double" ack! i'll have to admit im still confused on what we should get for the first few months but still try to keep costs at a minimum as well...sigh...after reading all your comments here PLUS all the "reviews" from amazon and babies r us, most of you are saying do NOT get the TWIN PNP as the weight limit is reached VERY quickly...sigh, now i wonder what to do instead as i liked the fact that it was at a good height for me to not have to lean way over and pick up the newborns (like you would in a normal crib) to feed....

    1. for everyone who used basinettes, was there a particular kind that you liked?
    2. perhaps i should look into getting two seperate PNP's like one lady suggested, and have them sleep in that for the first bit? i presume the single PNP's once we dont need them anymore would be easier for resale value than a "twin" one?
    3. ORRRRR i could just put one of the cribs in our room beside my bed and use that BUT of course that means leaning waaaayyyy over to pick them up for nightime feedings.

sigh....SO MANY DECISIONS and not sure what to do :(

Why do you have to lean WAY over in a crib?? As newborns, you put the crib mattress on the highest setting, there's no leaning over to it really. It's quite high. You don't have to put it down until they get older. It's going to be much higher than a pack n play will ever be.

@ danibell...why do I have to lean all the way over into the crib to pick up the twins?? "FACEPALM SLAP TO THE SIDE OF MY FACE!" :fool:

like duhhhhhhh, silly me, i have NOOOO idea why i wasnt thinking that i could just (like you said) have the mattress on one of their cribs on the highest setting beside our bed at night during the first few months...that way i dont have to lean over and kill my back picking them up for feedings etc etc, AND we dont have to purchase a seperate "basinette/pack and play", why not just use on of the two cribs we already have for when they are abit older?

sometimes i swear this "pregnancy brain" is out to get me at times....LOL :rotflmbo:

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Yes, yes pregnancy brain will kill you everytime!! You made me giggle! I'm glad to help you solve the problem! ;) I was so confused trying to figure out what kind of teeny tiny short crib you had! ;)

I used the crib for all 4 of my kiddo's, the twins shared it until they were a little over 9 months old, when we moved them into their own room and their own cribs :)
