I have been browsing the web, and reading as much material as I can get my hands on for twin pregnancy, when I found babycenter, and a person on there mentioned this twin site , which so far I think is great.
I am expecting fraternal twins ..due date feb 28/13.
I have a 13 year old son already with my first relationship. married with my new husband now for 6 years, we have been trying for 5 years to get pregnant.
We have been doing invitro on and off , and finally this year we got the news that we were pregnant. I new there was a chance we could have twins, and we were happy to have any baby. Now that I'm pregnant with twins, it's a lot different than having only one, so I will have a lot of questions along my way, and I'm glad there is support.
I do have one question already...with a single pregnancy the doctors and books tell you to try to lay on your left side so the blood can flow to the baby better and stuff. What about with twins? Is there a position to sleep that is better for them? I know it sounds silly, but this was on my mind.
Thanks so much for listening .

Welcome to TS! :welcome: This site is great! Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

My doctor hasn't ever been super concerned with which way I'm laying. That's for singles or doubles. I know they just don't want you laying flat on your back. I slept on my stomach until I popped and couldn't anymore. I quit laying on my back around week 10-12 but it was already getting uncomfortable anyway. I once asked the doctor about sides and laying on my back and he said try to sleep on your side and not your back. If you wake up then just roll over. That's about as detailed as he got. lol

Hello and welcome to TS! Glad you've found us. I have a 12 year old DD who wasn't too happy initially about the impending arrival of our twins - how is your son doing? But she is in total awe of them now :)I preferred to lie in my left side, and I still do now. Congrats btw!

:welcome: to TS! And congratulations!!! Trust me there are never too many questions so bring them on!! This forum is beyond phenomenal! I wouldn't have gotten through my pregnancy as sane as I did had it not been for these ladies.

I have boy/girl twins that are 2 weeks + 3 days old, its my first pregnancy so I cant compare it to anything but it seems that everything is pretty much the same as with a singleton, I know the laying on the left side is.

I'll be honest, I had bought a few books on pregnancy (and twin pregnancy) and ended up throwing them in the closet when I found TS .... Its better advice in my opinion, far more helpful, and there is always someone who has a circumstance similar to yours that can help you.

    Welcome again!!!

Heh, towards the end, I was sleeping in a recliner because it was the only way I could be comfortable. So however you CAN sleep, do it!

    Welcome to Twinstuff!

I second that! The recliner was my best friend for almost 2 months! I could stuff pillows around me and actually sleep soundly, which hadn't been really happening prior to that!

    Hi and :welcome: to TS!

There is vein which is compressed when you lay on your back, from what I understand. The good news is that most women flip from their back to their side (or tummy!) naturally when this becomes an issue- just don't ignore your body's signals and it should be ok- I read this in one of 'the books' when I was pregnant last year. :)

Welcome to TS! I have a 2.5 yo girl and 2 3 month old girls. Like you, I slept on my left side with the singleton. However, it wasn't too long into the 2nd pregnancy before I couldn't stay in more than one position for a few hours. I switched back and forth between being on my right side and being on my left side and the doctor seemed pretty happy with that.

Congrats and welcome! I was also a recliner sleeper, especially near the end.

I try to lay on my sides, I find I'm tossing and turning, when I'm on my back I'm so comfortable still.

My son has been a great helper, especially the first few months when I spent most of my time in the bathroom being sick. I was also on bed rest because I had a cerclage done. She he did the house work. My husband is away a lot with his job. So my son had stepped up to help me. He doesn't seem to be that excited yet about the babies, however I do know he has been telling people that I am having twins. I asked him what he thought and he says he's so-so. Lol hes not to excited yet, but accepts them into his life. I think he will be excited once they arrive. He just said he didn't want to change diapers. Lol
