We had our first ultrasound today and I believe I am 6 weeks and 5 days. We saw two yolk sacs, two fetal poles, but only one heart beat. I'm a little freaked out in multiple senses. I cannot believe we conceived twins spontaneously AGAIN! I wanted so bad to have one little baby so I could actually enjoy the baby stage more than I did with the girls. But also, twins would be fun again (I think I am forgetting the ridiculous sleep deprivation)! I'm feeling confident that what is supposed to happen will happen. We go back next week to see if the second little bean has a heart beat or if he/she will be a vanishing twin. I feel like I will be alright either way.

I immediately started to flip out when she started the ultrasound because I couldn't immediately see a heart beat (well duh, I'm not even 7 weeks) and she calmed me down. I'm so incredibly grateful that we have at least one healthy baby so far.

AHHH! I have so many emotions right now. I planned to tell my family after we saw a heartbeat, but I think its best to wait until next week now so things are slightly less up in the air.

Congrats!! Someone in my position! Lol I conceived twins again spontaneously as well. My first set were fraternal girls but this set are identical boys.

Best of luck and YES - keep us posted!

I had an early ultrasound the second time around, too, the idea of having a second set of twins really never entered my mind other than to demand an early ultrasound "to confirm there is only 1." Well, at the 6 week mark there was only 1 sac, no detected heartbeat, and a "shadow" of something behind it. By 7+2 (or so) it was 2 clear heartbeats. To tell you I had mixed emotions would be an understatement, but now I have 4 gorgeous girls and I don't know how to have just 1 kid at a time!

Again - good luck!!!!!! You are blessed either way.

Went back for a follow up and just saw one big, healthy baby! I feel a little guilty to say that I am relieved. If it would have been twins, I would have been happy as well, but I'm so glad to just add one baby to our family so it will be less of an adjustment for the girls and less of a crazy move back stateside.

I left the office sooo excited! I feel like now that the twin factor is off the table, I am able to be super ridiculously excited about being PREGNANT!!!!!!!

One baby is super fun and novel for us twin mommies. :) Enjoy it - 50 years ago you would have never known about a possible 2nd (or 4th? :pardon:).
