Hello this is my first time to ever post something on the net. I am 13 wks preg with twins and past 4 wks have had severe round ligament pain almost all the time . Not getting much sleep as a result and having prob driving also. Just wondering if this is normal and if anyone else has experienced similar . Thanks

First of all, welcome to TS! Congratulations on your twins!! :) I had severe ligament pain a lot at first too, but it stopped around month 4-5 months. I know it's different for every person, but I would call your doctor and just ask if there's perhaps things you could do to help relieve the pain or make it less painful. Good luck to you and glad you're here!

Yeah, that pain sure isn't fun. It hurt pretty bad with my boys but eased up somewhere around 15 weeks or so.

    :welcome: to TS!

That's about the time my ligament pain got really bad but now I'm 18 weeks and it's pretty much gone.

First off :welcome: to TS! I never really suffered from round ligament pain but I'm wondering if BioFreeze would help. I have a connective tissue disease that causes my joints to ache severely, they used to just throw me on crazy pain meds and muscle relaxers and then my hair dresser who is a massage therapist too turned me onto Biofreeze and I really don't use to the pain meds anymore it helps that much. I believe now you can actually buy it at the pharmacy (I know for sure CVS). It's just a topical gel, I use the roll on kind.

Hopefully you can find something out!

Congrats on your twins! I'm currently 9 weeks and having endometriosis I tend to cramp as much at the beginning of a pregnancy as I do before my period. I assume that most of the cramping is really round ligament pain, as that's what I was told in my 2 previous pregnancies. I use Thermacare hot packs for menstrual cramps, which I also use on my lower back, and they help a ton. They stay nice and hot, but not too hot, for almost a whole day and they feel great at night too. I swear by them! My husband joked that we should buy stock. I used rice packs I could heat up during my first 2 pregnancies, but those don't work now that I'm chasing around 2 toddlers. I developed Fibro and an autoimmune disorder, after the birth of our youngest, causing severe degenerative arthritis in my sacroiliac joints. My lower back always hurts pretty severely because of it, so I've gotten pretty good at finding things to manage chronic pain, along with my pain meds that I've been on for 23 months PRN. Exercise helps me too, and I always make sure to go to the gym even when I don't feel like it. Now whether I'm going to use the free gym day care and hide in the locker room or actually work out, well my toddlers can stay in there for 2 hours, so I usually do both:) The round ligament pain got better for me during the 2nd trimester of my last pregnancy and then worse again during the 3rd. It's different for everone though.
