    Hey ya'll!

Things are going pretty good so far. I've been having some issues with cramping/contractions, ended up at L&D twice b/c of it. The docs said that I have an "irritable uterus" ... I busted out laughing at this term, thinking I'd be irritable too if I'd grown as much and had two kids kicking me all the time! Anyway, I've been put on modified bed rest b/c of it, which some what stinks, I've been good about listening to my body and resting when needing to, but I'd also go when I felt good enough, now that's not what I can do, but I'll do whatever I have to for the health of my little ones.

I've gained a ton of weight and when I was getting close to the weight the docs had told me they wanted me to gain, I asked my OB about it, he just laughed and said I'd be waving at that number as I passed it by. the doctors aren't worried about it though, so neither am I .... I guess all the banana pudding and carrot cake has added up! lol!!

Adalynn is constantly moving, and even more active at night, Jackson is my lazy boy and is relaxing more than his sister, although he seems to get the hiccups all the time, cracks me up.

My doc today said he'll be happy if I get to 34 weeks and elated if I get to 37. It's a guarantee c-section b/c of my health issues, but he doesn't want to schedule until I'm at least 34 weeks. I can't wait to meet these little ones.

My morning sickness has come back, unfortunately, my OB was concerned about it and did some bloodwork, everything was okay on it except my glucose was a little elevated, just did the 1 hr glucose test this morning ... that was NASTY ... way too sweet! So we'll see what happens with that test, keep your fingers crossed that everything turns out good with that.

But all in all everything has gone great and I'm looking forward to in just a little while getting to meet my two angels!!!

You sound very positive! Well done! How many weeks are you currently? I had my hospital 'threatened pre-term labour' experience a couple of days ago, and i had the same thoughts about my poor uterus!!!! I am 31 weeks though so they kept me in a couple of days just to be sure nothing was going to progress and to get the steroid injections in for just in case.
Hope everything continues to go well for you and your little ones and the results of the glucose test come back in your favour!!

Efaith, I'm 29 weeks. I swear, it seems like just yesterday I found out I was expecting, then found out I was expecting twins. Where does the time go!!!! They haven't done the steroids yet but my OB has talked about it, so we'll see when that happens. The bed rest is kind of a bummer but it's not forever. My husband went out and bought me 4 ft deep pool from walmart, said, if I have to be on bed rest and horizonal for 6 more hours a day I might as well be doing it lounging in the pool ... my OB said it was a great idea. So I lounge in the pool for a couple of hours in the morning (before it gets too hot!) .... I have to say it's VERY relaxing!

Glad your babies are doing well!!

Are you delivering at Sacred Heart? My neighbor just had her baby there and stayed a week or so in the NICU, I think the baby was a 35 weeker. Anyway, they seem to have had a good experience there.

    Keep those babies cooking!

I love the update! Good to hear from you.

Good luck with everything. Your husband sounds like a keeper with his pool idea. I wish I'd thought of that! ;)

Kate, yes I'll be delivering at Sacred. My MFM docs are out of there too. I think it's the only NICU in our area. So far I've liked the doctors I've dealt with but I haven't been impressed with the nursing staff. L&D triage won't take you unless you're 20 weeks, regardless if youre high risk or not. Around 18 weeks I ended up in the ER with cramping and spotting, couldn't get a hold of my doc so we went up to sacred ER, their triage nurses were trying to get L&D to take me and they wouldn't b/c I wasn't 20 weeks , and that ER was slammed, ended up waiting 5 hours to be seen. The second time I was having contractions and pain and my doc told me to go up to L&D, the nurse immedately started say it was bc I had mexican for dinner and then read me the riot act about how I shouldn't eat mexican, anything spicey, fried, etc and she wanted to say it was just stomach issues, I'd had enough of her and finally told her I'd dealt with stomach issues all my life and stomach issues don't cause pain in your back that wraps around your abdomen and into your pelvis. She finally called my doc and her tune somewhat changed until she made a snide remark about how "women shouldn't have litters" b/c she was having issues getting the babies on the monitors. I really hate "Nurse know it all's" and there seem to be a lot there.

And yes I love Marshall even more for thinking of the pool. It's been ridiculously hot here lately and getting outside for more than just a brief period of time just hasn't been happening, unless I went out without any clothes, and then I'd just down right scare people, so I've been cooped up inside with the oh so wonderful AC cranking. Funny thing is, DH comes home from work and I'm on the couch in bra and underwear and he changes out of his clothes into sweats, tshirt and fleece jacket, socks and slippers. I swear soon he'll start wearing a ski hat thingy (I can't remember the name of them, I blame the preggo brain for that -- making me forget everything (not too sure what I'll do after these babies are born and I can't use that excuse any longer, lol). Him dressed like that makes me think of that scene in Father of the Bride II when the wife and daughter are both pregnant, they have fans on them and the AC down so low and still complaining of it being hot and Steve Martins character is dressed for a snow storm, lol .... oh how true that is! Anyway, total segway! The pool has been great b/c I can actually be outside and lounge. He also got me a float that is really flexible but still somehow supports my fat butt, and I can actually lay on my stomach ... omg, that's almost as good if not better than having the pool! I've always been a stomach sleeper, and well yeah that hasn't been able to happen in the last 6 months, so I'm TRULY in heaven in the pool on my stomach!!! I think I scare (or make them throw up a little, lol) my neighbors when I go out in a bikini rather than my maternity swimsuit, but oh well!!

That pool I think is the best $190 we've ever spent .... Walmart had them, may still have them, on sale. I don't know if anyoen else has experienced this or not, but my babies seem to love the water. I've noticed it when DH and I would take the boat out to the river (yes I'm totally redneck, live near a river and own an above ground pool ... and I'm damn proud of it! lol) and we'd go up to a sandbar and just relax and have a picnic. When I'd wade in the water the babies would start going crazy, especially my lazy bum Jackson --- I swear that kid is the laziest, Adalynn is constantly going crazy and moving and kicking, Jackson seems to do just barely above the mandatory amount of kicks, and he's also the fattest out of the two, anyway -- they're the same with the pool the minute I'm in it and just letting myself float around in the water they start break dancing. If I lay on my float on my stomach they'll start moving so much they actually cause waves in the water. Hopefully this means the babies will be water babies like their mom and dad!!!

Wow, I think I would complain about that! The nurse, especially! Or I would have punched her, one or the other. My friend was high risk, her daughter was anemic. It must be the closest one even for us at 45ish minutes away. I just moved here so I have no idea what's around as far as NICU and ER's and all that, well except where we have to go since we are military.

I want to get one of those little pools for the kids but I have to find out if we're "allowed" to have one.

I complained to my doctor, he was pissed.

I luckily dont live in an HOA, so no one can say anything. I'm thinking about adding some pink flamingos to my front yard just to complete the redneck-ness! Lol

Or an old toilet!! :rotflmbo: We're renting so I actually have to ask our property manager. There's no HOA here, though, so that's good.

And in regards to your friend, nothing is close around here, lol. I think I remember you telling me where y'all live and yeah its about a 45-1hour drive from there on the interstate. Im about 30-40 minutes away, which worries me that if I end up in labor I might not get there in time, marshall said if that happens hes throwing me in hia patrol vehicle and going lights and sirens the whole way, lol! I had a friend that delievered at west florida hospital and her son had to go to the nicu, she had to stay at west Florida ... There's no way! The two hospitals are about 20 min from each other. They'd have to catch me and tie me to the bed to keep me that far away from my new born!

Are you serious with this one? I would have been pissed if someone told me that while I was pregnant, it annoys me to hear it now also. How can she be a nurse and say something like that to a pregnant woman with twins? ARGH. Sorry you had to go through that.

I hope you make it as far as possible with your pregnancy, it seems to me you are about the same kind of timetable as I was - I was due 9.21, but I had them on 9.3. I hope you can make it as long as possible and enjoy the pool, I went to the pool while pregnant also, and it was great - no maternity suit for me either :p. Also, I did some mild body boarding - I was holding the board sideways, but I wasn't on any kind of restriction or bedrest. It felt great to be in the water.

About your boy being more behaved in your stomach, it may be the way they are cramped in there also. My boy Max was always bouncy and flipping positions while Vanessa was always quiet and at times I was wondering if she was OK, but her back was turned towards the front of my stomach, so I wasn't able to feel her every move, plus she didn't flip at all, she was breech all the time and she was twin A (After I saw the size of Max's head I silently thanked her for being breech :p, the C-Section wasn't a big deal at all to me).

Anyway, after they were born, Vanessa was more active than Max, and now at 21 months, they are both climbing everywhere and just as active, challenging each other to do all sorts of crazy things :p, jumping and running and breaking stuff together... just wait and see.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, I hope it's uneventful.

Monica .. no im not kidding, Marshall knew I was about to deck her. The hospital is a Catholic hospital and some of the staff are nun's ... She was, so shes never gone through carrying children or having any ... I was pretty ticked.

Adalynn is breach and Jackson is traverse. I have no problem with the c-section ... Especially with my health problems its safer for the babies and safer for me. I know some women get upset by not being able to deliver naturally but I think whatever is safest is the best and it doesn't affect my womanhood that I wont deliver naturally. But then again my docs have always told me getting pregnant was risky for.me but natural delivery would totally be out of the question, so it wasn't a big surprise when they said it was going to be a c-section

I don't know where anything is over there, I've only driven through on I10. My husband had to go down to P-cola for training a couple weeks ago and it would take him about an hour to get from our house to the base.

When I had Josh, the hospital was a good 30-40 minutes away and I was terrified I wouldn't make it. My doctor kept saying I was being silly, nobody goes into labor that fast, etc. I ended up being induced and after I had him my doctor said "ya know, you probably wouldn't have made it here if you went into labor on your own."

Also did you hear about the woman that had a baby in the car down our way? Here's the linke.

A - do you know if the nurse manager is a nun also? If not, I'd complain to the nurse manager and patient advocate - nun or not she has no right to address you that way...

oh and standard of care - no L&D unit will take you prior to 20 weeks - because there isn't anything they can do to resuscitate the baby if you were to deliver (and if that happened, chances are you're not going to want to be on a unit with mom's with stars in their eyes and cute babies)...

I hope your irritated uterus remains calm till the end!!
