Anyone here still drinking coffee? Sometimes I drink 2 cups of the 50/50 blend so I'm only getting half the amount of caffiene. I just feel bad doing it daily for some reason. It would be nice to hear those still drinking coffee daily. My day just goes smoother with coffee in the mornings.

I never stopped drinking coffee. I may have lessened the number of cups, but we drink our coffee VERY strong as it is (we get Cameron's Intense French whole beans). I probably had one cup a day anyway.

I drank coffee throughout. My doctor said to limit it to two cups or less. I generally stuck to one--small cups not two venti Starbucks.

This makes me feel better!! I'm going back to my coffee.

I took up coffee after the twins were born. I was drinking 6-8 cups a day then. Right before I got pregnant this time I was drinking 4-5 cups a day. I REALLY miss my coffee.

I drank coffee every day too! But I too limited it to one regular sized cup in the morning.

I did one regular cup and then could switch to decaf. I needed the routine as much as the caffeine!

I also drank my large half coffee/half hot chocolate from Tim's daily throughout my pregnancy (with Emmett. With the girls the smell made me nauseous so it was easy to avoid). Enjoy your cuppa!

The only reason I cut out coffee is it felt like I had jumping beans in me!

I'm more of a soda drinker but I gave that up for lent so I was drinking coffee daily for a while. I picked it back up for the last few days because I picked up a cold from my toddler and I wanted something hot to drink to help clear up the cough.

I completely lost my taste for it when I was pregnant and I have yet to get back into the habit. I'm also nervous about passing caffeine through my breastmilk and ending up with kids who won't nap!

Definitely - I was far more conservative with my caffeine intake when I was breastfeeding than when I've been pregnant.

I'm going to bottle feed so I'll be able to drink as much caffiene as I need to survive! Lol

I drank coffee all through both of my pregnancies.
I'm a compulsive reader and during my pregnancy with my twins I read everything that was out then about coffee drinking in pregnancy and everything said up to 2 cups a day was fine. I'm just a morning coffee drinker. I take milk and I did however increase the amoung of milk I would put in it. I normally took it with about 10% milk 90% coffee and I gradually put more and more milk in it until it was milk with coffee instead of coffee with milk.

In the 8 years that have passed more and more research has come out that shows the same thing, also for nursing mothers. Unless you are drinking more than 6 cups of coffee a day you are fine to breast feed. And the benefits to breastfeeding--even partially, are tremendous. The most important thing for pregnant woman to know about breastfeeding is that it doesn't have to be all or nothing. You can supplement to give your family more flexibility. Supplementing does not mean you have to stop breastfeeding. I pratially breastfeed my girls for 15 months. They recieved supplemental bottles of formula every single day of their breastfeeding time.

Good luck to all of you who are expecting. Know that you can do this. It won't be easy--but it's so worth it.

I wouldn't have touched coffee with a 10 ft pole while I was pregnant with our twins!
Fast forward 2 years to my pregnancy with baby boy #3 and I couldn't get to the Keurig machine fast enough in the mornings!
My life had changed. I couldn't sleep in or nap at will like I could with my first (twin) pregnancy and I was just all around much more tired from having twin toddlers and being pregnant.
Everything I was told and read said that 1-2 cups per day was fine. I had 1 cup every day and a handful of times, I had 2.
It never seemed to affect anything negatively. LO was born full term, 8 lbs.

I still have 1-2 cups per day every day and I am EBF. There have been days I have wondered if LO would sleep a little better if I wasn't drinking coffee, but I don't think that's the case. And by all accounts, 1-2 small-to-medium sized cups per day doesn't have much effect.

Honestly, unless some serious proof comes out against drinking coffee while EBF, I will continue! I'm more tired now than I've ever been. LO is up 1-2 times per night to nurse and I have to get up at 7am with all 3 of them.
    Coffee isn't a luxury these days. It's a means of survival ;-)!!!!!

I drank coffee through all of my pregnancies. I'm mostly a morning coffee drinker too. I still drink coffee even with breastfeeding. It hasn't affected naps. I agree that it is a means of survival! Half coffee half hot chocolate sounds really good right now, especially with the cold and rainy weather.

It's definitely ok to have some caffeine while breastfeeding - and that was confirmed by the postpartum nurses I just left and the coffee I was served every morning. I was just saying that I took it easy so as not to end up with a *more* wired toddler than I already had. With these two, I'll probably be less conservative - they'll be splitting the caffeine, right? :good:
