This contrariness and defiance is driving me insane. Cuckoo. Batty. I'm seriously considering calling the exorcist because this cannot be the same children that were there a month ago.

They both got bad reports from pre-K today (first ever,) about bad behavior, not listening, defiance, screaming, arguing, and I am so embarrassed. Since picking them up at 5:00, (it's not even 6:30) we've had:

1 Tantrum in the parking lot over not holding hands which then escalated to a bitter tantrum over the side of the car they sit in on the way home. (R)

3 tantrums and screaming at me over television, screaming at R over a toy, and just being mouthy (A). Sent up to her room twice, came down within a minute being "happy". I know it's just their age and their first full week back at school from vacation, combined with all of the other rugrats in the classroom doing the same thing, but Oh. My. Stars, I need some :wine: to go with my whine.

And she just threw another tantrum and went up to her room over not being allowed to sit in my lap. And she's down again and they're hitting each other with stuffed animals.

I am sorry.. tantrum phases should come with their own box of wine. Hopefully they get right back to their normal selves soon.

M had a tantrum tonight over not getting a "certificate" at school for being good. Screaming at me and railing at the injustice of not getting a good kid certificate made A and I both

They also got into a mega fight over who would use which roof for their Lincoln logs. It ended in them both screaming and taking to opposite sides of the house for time outs.

So basically I feel your pain, and I think it has to do with being tired from school.

 My two have times where they bicker worse then an old married couple.

Just today Sophia told me that her pretend friend Leo (her imaginary friend) hit Luke. Luke denied being hit and did not seem upset. And I really wasn't sure where to go with that, so I just told Sophia that neither she nor Leo should be hitting people.

    That's sounds familiar.

I hope tomorrow is better. Maybe they were extra tired today. My boys went through a period, when they kept getting these colds and their sleep was disrupted, and I swear for 2 weeks straight one or both of them got in trouble at school every day. When their sleep went back to normal they stopped causing drama.

We skipped the terrible 2's, skipped the terrible 3's, 4's were off to a good start and then bammm! Around 4 1/2-5, they turned it on!

We are in the thick of tantrums and sassy mouths, too. I'm about to lose my cool! Must be the age!

We have the tantrums about who gets to sit on which side of the car more or less every day. Please do not tell me that we will still be having tantrums over that in 2 years!

My suggestion is that you never buy matching car seats. My husband does not have this issue because alice has a pink seat, Royce has a brown one. Even with two girls get two different print car seats. And let them pick a seat and never move from it.

Aaron went through this and one day, right around his 5th birthday, he woke up calm and normal. It was eerie.

Sorry it is so painful right now. I have no advice other than keep saying "it's just a phase".
