Ok so the twins are still in their carriers. They still meet the height limits well within them. However they are rated for 25 lbs and Wyatt just hit 20 lbs and Willa Grace is 19 lbs. We have Britax Marathons to move into but they dont fit rear facing in my car. I have an old volvo station wagon right now. We have plans to buy a van in the spring. My question is if for some reason they have some sort of crazy growth spurt between now and then how serious is the 25 lbs limit? Will they be safe at say 26 lbs? I can't imagin either of them gaining 6 lbs in 3 or 4 months but you never know.

As long as they fit the height and weight requirements I think they will be fine. I had the same issue when i put my britax marathons in (until we bought a new car). I turned both my girls around at 14 months and put them in their big girl car seats and they were fine. They were 20 and 21 pounds when i did that.

I'm not sure. I'm not a car seat expert but I would think within a lb or two would be okay

I am a bit jealous, are you still able to use the double snap and go? Mine outgrew their carriers when they were about 8 months old, they outgrew the height limit... which was 29". I kept them in until they were 9 months because I wasn't ready to give up on the double snap and go, but their feet were really squeezed in there, and their legs looked like a pretzel. I also don't think a few pounds would matter, and I doubt they would gain 6# in 3-4 months. Mine grew 2-3 # in the last 3 months.

Have fun shopping for a Van, I know it's psychologically hard for some people to get one (it was for me also), but now that I had if for a year, I really love it and it's so much easier with the kids.

I'm sure they would still be safe and I'd be shocked if they gained five pounds in 3 months anyway.

I'd be more worried about the height limit, since most kids outgrow that first. Make sure you check that your kids aren't too tall for their carriers...

Their heads are still below the top of the seat. I will check their measurments next week when we do the 18 month well child. I don't have a snap in go but yes I still use the double stroller with the seats in it. Its nice for times like this morning I had to go have my car registration renewed and no one to keep the twins. It was cold so I left them in their seats with their bundle me's and popped them in the stroller still in their carseats.

monica- yes I am having a hard time coming to terms with it lol. I fought it as long as I could. We are trying to decide between the Toyota Sienna and the Honday Odyssey.

Wow, I can't believe they have stayed in their seats that long! Mine were out of theirs around 8 months. Of course they are 75th and 95th percentile, so that's why. But like the others, I would say an extra pound or two isn't going to matter. I think I remember reading somewhere that the height limit is actually more important.

Yes do double check the height requirement, I seem to remember with the infant seats that they had to be an inch or two below the top of the seat....but it's been a long time so I could be wrong! Otherwise, I think you are probably safe on the weight limits. But there's no way at 18 months any of my kids would have fit height wise in the carrier, but I had big kids too ;)

Yep. But my twins were 34weekers, 4 lbs each only 17 inches long. both in the 5th%tile for height.

They weren't bad for 34 weekers. Mine were 38ws1d, a bit over 4 lbs and a bit over 17 inches at birth. Now they are always in 25 percentile for weight and from 50 to 75 to 90 them now over 90 percentile for height. You guys are doing great!

Sorry I have different advice. If I were you, I would switch. I just can't risk it for a lb or 2. Gl!

Guess it's all a matter of preference/opinion. I'd just put them in the new seats forward facing. I know, I know...the 2 years rear thing. We had the seats rear facing for as long as we legally had to, then we switched them. My husband is too tall to really have them rear face in their seats (we have Evenflow Symphonys) without him being smooshed with his knees up against the steering wheel. I loved forward facing them- I like being able to look at them and, if I'm the passenger, turn around and talk to them.
