It's a wonder I've lasted this long before having a question to ask you ladies. I hope you don't mind me intruding.

Short introduction for those that don't know me: I'm Brenda, I am a twin but not a twin mommy and I live in South Africa. I suffered from infertility so it took quite a few treatments before we received our miracle bfp. I'm just shy of the 3rd trimester and we're expecting a son. So far the pregnancy has gone great. I've gained more weight than I would've liked to but that's my only complaint which is probably normal with women ;)

My first trimester was spent by the toilet, I was pretty sick and very happy when the second trimester came along and the nausea and sickness disappeared. However I've been really nauseas the past 3 days and have had a constant headache for about a week as well. It hasn't been bad enough for me to feel concerned enough to contact my midwives but I want to post and make sure it's normal symptoms to be experiencing this late in the pregnancy? It's 1am here (I suffer from insomnia pretty badly too but that's not new for me, have had the problem before being pregnant too) and suddenly I'm paranoid that something is wrong.

So basically a useless thread just to calm my fears a little. [IMG]

Having nausea return is not too uncommon. I would be a bit concerned about the headache though and would want to have blood pressure checked.
Hopefully it is just some of the fun symptoms of pregnancy and nothing to worry about!

Thanks Nancy. That makes me feel much better!

My blood pressure is normal 118/52 (I have a blood pressure monitor at home since I've always suffered from low blood pressure, I check it every morning) so I don't think the headaches are related to that, maybe just hormones or stress?

I'm seeing my midwives again next week so if it doesn't get any worse I think I'll just wait it out. It's probably just my hormones, I hope! :)

I think it's pretty normal too, but mention it to your midwife anyway. Part of their job is to reassure you that any pregnancy symptoms you have are normal, and they can pick out the ones that aren't for intervention. From my experience, it's pretty hard to annoy a midwife and/or OB.. they've heard it all! Hope you're feeling better soon though; never hurts to put your feet up for a bit and get some R&R.

    Hi Brenda!

    Glad you've joined us!

I had 3rd trimester sickness, too. It was weird. I think it's pretty common, actually. Since you're bp is fine, how's your water intake? Out here I get a dull headache from altitude when dehydrated.

Thanks Jen, I think I'll text them when it's a more appropriate hour and hear what they have to say.

Thanks Michelle, lol I think it's quite mean to bring back the nausea/sickness but if it's normal I at least don't have to worry about it! I've been enjoying the 2nd trimester so much, I would really be fine if the 3rd trimester followed suit  It has been extremely hot here (being Summer and all) so I may have not been drinking enough to make up for the heat. Will definitely up my water intake and see if it helps.

The 3rd trimester sickness wasn't nearly as bad as the 1st for me. It was just unexpected and not welcome!

That's good news. So far it's just that icky/yuck feeling, haven't been sick yet so I hope it stays this mild nausea. I was pretty sick in the 1st trimester and would be okay to not experience that again until at least my next pregnancy ;)

I just wanted to say I can't believe you are 27 weeks already! Wow, time flies! You will be having that baby before we know it. Sorry you aren't feeling well, hopefully it is a quickly passing phase.

I was thinking the same thing!!

I had my first trimester ickyness come back in the third trimester... not as bad but it was there. <_< I hope it lets up for you so you can enjoy the rest of the pregnancy!

Any nausea I've had while pregnant has been right around the changes between trimesters. I started throwing up with this pregnancy just as I hit 28 weeks. It turned out I had started cutting waaaaay back on my water intake without really being consciously aware of it because I was getting annoyed with the frequent bathroom trips each day. The reason it was a problem is because your blood volume hits it's peak just as you start your 3rd trimester so if you aren't staying hydrated your body gets out of whack. As my doula pointed out, I could go to the bathroom to puke, or I could go to the bathroom to pee - my choice. ;)

Anyway, it can't hurt to put a call into your midwives tomorrow just to check what their thoughts are, but it does sound pretty normal to me.

    Yeah for fabulous BP!
Mine always came back in 3rd trimester too, with an added component of heartburn to make the nausea & vomitting more interesting. Tums helped.

    Hang in there!

Thanks Tina and Liz [IMG] It sounds so cliché'd but I really still have to remind myself daily that yes, yes I am healthy and pregnant [IMG] I can't believe how time has flown, I honestly can't wait to meet him anymore! (okay yes I can wait a few more months so he's healthy and full term!)

I did contact my midwives today and they also said I should increase my water intake, if it doesn't get better I should go in to see them. I've been slugging down litres of water and I do actually feel better (either wishful thinking or for real, don't know which yet ) I'm happy to read that the return of nausea is normal however. Normal I can handle, even the icky normal things. ;)

Thanks Nancy! pregnancy has certainly brought it's interesting side effects but at least it's all worth it in the end. I already have a decent stock of Tums

Thank you ladies for easing my fears. I feel much better today!
