I am about 16w pregnant with twins--they are #2 and #3. I had DD vaginally and have been noticing-for the first time since shortly after her birth- that things feel different "down there." I feel a heaviness in my vaginal area and was initially pretty concerned--I had my cervix measured at my appointment last week and it was 4.7 (or thereabouts) so I'm wondering if it could be related to pelvic floor muscle changes after DDs birth. Anyone with any ideas or similar experience??

I had HORRIBLE pressure down below while pregnant with the twins, I have an older child as well. I don't think it really has anything to do with your first pregnancy but more to do with twins and them being heavy on your body and uterus. I know I had days where it felt like if I had to squat to do something, a foot would come out.

Yes!! My girls are my first and only but I can relate to this. It was very uncomfortable and awkward.

My first was also a singleton and I have been feeling a lot of heaviness in my pelvic region for several weeks now (I'm 20 weeks right now). I think it's just because our bodies are technically farther along than the week we are because there are 2 babies in there. I had my cervix measured this week and it was nice and long as well.

I'm also having issues I didn't have last time either during pregnancy or post partum (leaking a bit when coughing/sneezing  ) and just generally feeling way more uncomfortable in my pelvic region.

Oh good! That is reassuring to hear. Lol on the foot coming out. . .
I wondered if it was from pushing DD out--she came fast and furious. Things are very different this time around even now at 16w --I felt uncomfortable a bit towards the end with DD, but I mostly felt great. I noticed today how much my legs are swelling already! I decided that I will probably start wearing my compression socks at home from now on--I'm afraid to see what my legs will look like closer to delivery. :shok:

I found that a maternity support belt helped a lot with the pelvic pressure. I only wore it though if I was up and about at work.

    DItto this!

Agree with the maternity support belt. I could not go a day without one.

Ditto the maternity belt, I broke that bad boy out shortly after the first tri was over (I have 2 older kids and never really used it with them), and it helped a LOT, it also helped with my back aches because it helped hold the weight of my expanding waist line :)

My twins were #3 & #4 and my second child was 12 months old when they were born! So I felt major pressure down there & thought something was going to come out. I talked to the ob about it several times because it felt so awful. I won't tell you what they told me was a possibility bit didn't happen because it just freaked me out. I had to wear those ugly compression hose for the last couple months after a vein burst in my leg & I didn't want anymore of that to happen. Twins are just hard on our bodies! Hang in there!

LOL, yeah even for my first I felt alot of pressure mine started around 20 weeks. I had a maternity belt it helped a ton, like to make it through the grocery! I just let a friend borrow it for a singleton, her 5th.... Shes having the same problem but with preterm labor complications! Goodluck and take it easy! It will be all worth it! I thought my two were gonna fall out but we made it to 37 weeks with no bed rest but they did take me off work ot 33 weeks!

It will get better once they get a little bigger and they tend to move up (now the head is small and can sink deeper in your pelvis). I had the same and actually went to my doctor at 17w thinking I was dialating. It did go away and I made it all the way, but having had a big first one and large twins, there was a lot of pressure at this stage.

I wanted to come back here and say that for the past week or so the pressure has been less and less in my pelvis, like the person above mentioned. I'm 21.5 weeks right now and the babies are quite a bit higher and I think that is helping. I've also been doing some yoga and stretching to loosen up all my muscles (my legs and back were so tight) and that has relieved some of the pelvic sensations I was having--I think all the tight muscles were pulling on my abdomen.
