breech at 32 weeks

Baby A at yesterday (32 weeks) are showing breech.. baby B is head down perfectly. What are the chance for baby a's head to turn?

I prefer a vaginal delivery. Thanks.

There's still definitely time to flip. Some babies even flip once labour has started. Depending on how strongly you feel about it, it may be worthwhile to search for a care provider who is willing to attend a vag breech birth of baby A. They are out there. You may also want to do some research into the benefits & risks of vag breech birth vs the benefits & risks of c-birth to help you in your decisions/choices. GL!

 

My Baby A was breech the whole time, at every sonogram. Baby B flipped, at times he was breech, at times he was vertex. At the last sonogram before birth - at 36 weeks - he was vertex - of course, at that point we knew I had no choice but do a C-Section since Baby A wasn't turning. Funny enough, Max turned breech also, he was breech at birth, 37 weeks 5 days. I was huge, I really didn't think there was room for him to turn, since my stomach felt really tight, but he flipped and I didn't feel a thing... So yeah, there's a chance that a baby can flip at 36-37 weeks, only there's no guarantee they'll turn the way you want them to turn . Don't forget, it's important to have healthy babies, in the big picture, it doesn't really matter how they got here. I recovered really fast from the C-Section. My Baby A was breech until 37-38 weeks, then he flipped head down. No idea how he managed it in there, but he did! Baby B was transverse the whole time. Both were born vaginally, head first, with no complications. Good luck!

 

When I was pregnant with my daughter, my midwife told me to walk as much as possible to help her turn head down. Because the head is the heaviest part of the body, all the jostling of walking plus gravity can sometimes help the baby turn head down. Don't know if you are on bedrest or not, but maybe that can help. Feel good you are almost there!!

 

It's possible, I had a friend whose breech baby turned around almost right before birth. My baby A was breech and she was not moving. Good luck and I hope baby A does turn around for you!

 

My baby A flipped to vertex at 35 weeks and Baby B flipped to breech at 38 weeks. I was still able to deliver vaginally (she turned vertex after A was delivered). I just wanted to let you know that it can happen up until the last minute. I was induced at 38+1 and had an u/s the day before. B was vertex. When they went to induce me the next day, she had turned to breech. Stinker. Don't give up hope.

 

Thanks to all! I walk a ton every day because of Gestational diabetes. I hope baby A will turn in the next few weeks.

 

where would you find an OB who would do it?? it is difficult to even find one who will deliver a breech Baby B or a breech singleton. i know those are out there, mostly older, more experienced OBs. but all the books and things i've read online are pretty clear that breech Baby A = surgical birth

 

I have a friend in Calgary who was able to find an OB who was willing to attend her vag birth with both babies breech. They are out there, although certainly rare.

The thing is, there are one set of benefits and risks to a vag breech birth and a second set to a breech c-birth. If we were talking about one option having all risk & no benefit & the other option having all benefit & no risk, than the choice would be clear. That's not the case however.

It's unfortunate that OBs, for whatever reason, have decided that it's their job to make this decision for women & families rather than allowing their clients to make the decision that is right & best for them. Rather than informed choice women are left with little choice or the pressure to search out the one caregiver that is able to attend them. And some women are choosing to forego a caregiver completely because that is preferable to them than being treated as just another stupid crazy pregnant lady.

 

this is true. although i am surprised how many women don't bother to learn anything about pregnancy, especially L&D, on their own. they just expect the Dr to tell them everything in 10 mins! even women with twins. it is so important for us to inform ourselves and i think Drs are so used to patients who are clueless, so to let a patient make a decision where there is considerable risk involved probably doesn't seem right to them. i'm just guessing.

 

I agree that it's important for women to educate themselves to a point but I disagree that doctors shouldn't take the time to explain all options, with benefits & risks, in light of an individual woman's obstetrical history. In my mind, one of the biggest things that we hire a care provider for is to inform us of all the things we don't know because we haven't been to medical/midwifery school. No matter how well educated a given woman is, unless she's been to medical/midwifery school herself, it is likely that her care provider knows more than she does. If 10 minutes isn't enough time to provide that service (and I agree that it most definitely isn't), than care providers need to start scheduling more time with their clients.
