Where do you buy durable tights?

People have recommended Hanna Andersson, but I'll be damned if I buy $18 tights when I refuse to pay more than $12 for a dress.

Where can I find good, durable, not super expensive ones? I got some on sale at the children's place, the microfiber tights were destroyed in 30 minutes, and the thicker ones lasted a couple hours... I usually do legging but they won't be warm enough this winter...

Any recommendation? Or maybe warmer leggings?

I would have said Hanna Anderson. Our Childrens Place tights hold up well. Gap cable knits are really durable too. We've had a pair for a couple years now that is still going strong.

Dance tights are the best. We use danskin. They are about $10

I have had good luck with Old Navy tights.

I have had the best luck with Children's Place and H&M for Lila's tights.

No idea the price, but we have hand-me-down tights that are LL Bean and have held up really well. My daughter wears her favorite pair at least twice a week to preschool and she plays HARD.

ETA: Just price checked and they are about ~$13/pair with free shipping.

I like the knit tights better than microfiber. We have some cute ones from Target (Circo brand) that have held up well. But usually my girls wear leggings and socks with their dresses and skirts. I got some really cute ones at Osh Kosh.

I have not personally bought the Hanna tights, but I personally do know 2 girls who live on a farm and are quite rough-and-tumble that wear them and do quite well with them.

I've had better luck with the thicker knitted tights than the microfiber ones. Sarah only wears the microfiber ones to church. She wears knit tights or leggings to school.

If you're not so bothered by fashion sense, you might think about just letting your daughter wear pants under her dresses when it gets cold. Sarah tends to do that occasion even now. So many of the pants are cut tighter and more fitted anyway. Sarah's favorites are the Children's Place fleece pants. Those have gone on sale in the past at $5 a pair. Sarah will through a dress and put the fleece pants under it and add cute shoes or fashion boots (we're cold and windy here but not really much snow). She's warm and comfortable so I don't really care. At $5 a pair before you stack coupons on them, the pants work out to cheaper than most tights.

You can buy Hannas on ebay. They still seem really expensive to me for used tights, but man do they hold up. We have some hand-me-downs that went through 2 kids before mine, and are still in good enough shape to be handed down when we're done with them. Amy wears tights nearly every day in the winter.

We also almost never wear microfiber tights, except for ballet. Thick knitted ones only.

My Sarah wears pants under dresses/skirts most days. She doesn't like the feel of tights. (Also, apparently her fashion sense tells her that shirt + skirt + pants is a "must have" combo. ) She loves the Gymboree velour leggings most of all (I get those on ebay too, or at the consignment store) but will wear just about any kind of stretchy/soft leggings or pants.

Isn't $18 a pair worth it if they can be worn weekly for years and handed down through four kids? That's how I justify it. One great, lasting pair costs less than five that fall apart.

Well at this age they're outgrown pretty fast, and we're not getting more kids, so $18 is too much lol.

I'm engaging in wishful thinking that the same ones will fit next year. Probably very wishful...

It noticeably slows down as they get older. We generally get 2 years out of a pair now....

Alice has that same fashion sense! Shirt, skirt, and pants. Mostly yoga pants or leggings under her shirt/skirt or dresses.

Where do kids get this? Ana is instisting on this "uniform" every day too. Meara varies her clothes depending on her mood.

I was thinking it was an "A" name thing, but no, it's Sarah, not Amy.

Alice, Ana, (not Anna), and Sarah-not-Amy.

Maybe it goes with the name Sarah. Last year for 1st grade one of Sarah's standard outfits for school was a sundress that she put a long-sleeve shirt under and burgundy fleece pants. She also liked using the black yoga pants.

I buy them at Target or Walmart and just toss them. My two would destroy tights made out of an indestructible material so I just buy the cheap ones and toss them. I have had some of the cheap ones last a very long time and some that go on to the tight graveyard after the first wear. I bought like 15 pair at the end of the season last year for .75 a pair.

We have about 15 pairs of hand me down tights that I can't convince my girls to wear. They'd much rather put stretchy pants or leggings under a skirt... in fact, that's pretty much what they wear everyday. Today Cricket picked brown and white polka dot leggings, a striped waffle weave hoody, and a turquoise skirt. Piper decided on jean leggings, a pink shirt, and a tank dress over it all. Neither of my kids will ever win a fashion award, but they're happy!
