    Hi everyone,

Well I am back with more questions!! Last night my mucus plug came out (just clear no blood) and I had a few cramps. I didn't go in last night because I had a 9am appointment with the OB and the cramps seemed to subside. However, my ob sent me right to labour and delivery for a NST, Fetal Fibronectin, and full spec exam. The dr also opted to give me the steroid injections so I go back in tomorrow for the 2nd one. I had a urinalysis done and it did show positive for a trace amount of leukocytes ? and some blood. The NST was good and both babies are doing well but the hospital called me and told me that the Fetal Fibronectin test came back positive. Have any of you had this? If so how long after did you go into labour/deliver your babies? Also if you did lose your mucus plug how long did that happen before delivery? I am just hoping these little peanuts stay in until at least 35 weeks. I am so terrified right now and I just want them to be healthy. Any input?

Thanks in advance, worried again :(

I lost part of my mucous plug when I went into PTL at 24 weeks, and had a possible FFN at 28 weeks, which typically means you COULD deliver within the next 2 weeks, but there is also a chance you wont. I delieverd at 37 weeks. I would take it easy, the blood and leukocytes could mean a UTI though, which can cause contractions. Hopefully your babies will hold on for at least another 4 weeks.

Thanks Slipper. Is there anything you did yourself specifically that you think might have helped you go farther?

    thank you

I was on strict bedrest. I was only allowed to get up to use the bathroom. I pretty much layed in bed from 24-36 weeks. It was long but well worth it.

I didn't lose my mucous plug, but I did have a positive FFN test at 28 weeks (I went into L&D with regular contractions every 5 min). I had the steroid shots and was put on bedrest and I didn't deliver until 37w3d. It was explained to me that the FFN test is most useful if it's negative. If it's negative you're very unlikely to go into labour in the next 2 weeks (I can't remember the exact odds, but they were low). If it's positive you might go into labour, but you also might not.

Hang in there, I hope you can keep those little ones in for a while longer!

Thank you. The dr didn't put me on bedrest but I am feeling a lot of pressure when I am standing so I think I am going to do it on my own. I go back to L & D this morning so I will ask more questions and also call my ob.

Slipper: thanks for you input I am going to follow the same. It gives me hope that you went so far.

I appreciate all the responses so much. It is really great to have all the support and listen to the different scenarios. Hugs to all of you and again thank you so much :)

You are very welcome. I was also 2cm dialated and 60-70% effaced at 24 weeks.

 I would put yourself on bedrest. I am kind of surprised your OB did not. That is good you got the steroid shots. :good:

I had a positive fFN at 28 weeks, and did not deliver until 34 weeks. I was also on strict bedrest (3 weeks at the hospital between 28 and 32 weeks, and then home for the last couple of weeks with home monitoring and biweekly nurse care).

Well I went back in for my second shot and they did the NST and everything was normal. I did not get to see the doctor which was kind of disappointing. They did tell me to rest as much as possible but that was it. I don't go back in until the 25th to see the ob and on the 20th for a growth scan. It makes me a little nervous that they are so easy going about it all. I can't see them doing the steroid shots unless there was concern about PTL. They didn't even wait for the results of the Fetal Fibronectin. I think I will follow all of your advice and stay put as much as possible.

Thanks again you girls are the best!

I had a pos Ffn at 29 weeks and got the steroid shots. I delivered at 35 and 5. My OB only put me on modified rest but I did much more than that! He said that bed rest would not stop actual labor if it was going to happen but that it would help to keep me from contracting and it did. So I stayed very quiet. Good Luck
