He Takes His Diaper Off In His Crib

Evidently I was bursting with questions. Who knew?

Sebastian now knows how to take off pants/shorts & both can take off their diapers. Last week he did it in bed and peed. Yesterday (Happy Birthday!) he did it after pooping and played in it. :bad:

I'm contemplating duct taping his diaper. He doesn't seem ready to PT- he doesn't tell me when he needs to go or often that he has gone. He has peed on the potty once or twice but never pooped.

I'm not really into early PTing, but WWYD?

Duct tape.

Seriously. Or, Scotch makes a satin tape that is really hard to lift from diapers. Then put him in a onesie and pants on.

 

I have nothing meaningful to contribute but laughter. Our adjuster came over Monday while the girls were napping. We put them down in a hurry with only diapers on (which we usually don't do) knowing that our GC and the adjuster and a plumber were all arriving in minutes. An hour and a half later all these men were near tears laughing at us as we carried a pee-soaked Alexis out of the house with her soaked bedding in a bag to go bathe her at the in-law's (plumber had cut off our water for the meeting!). :sigh:

 

This summer it was so hot I put them down for naps in just a diaper. & masking tape. Yeah, they can get that off. Orion gouged out his leg to do so, but he did it. Willful kids!

 

Try duct tape, it didn't work for us though, he just pulled it down The only thing that worked were footed PJs with zippers turned backwards (I especially like the children's place ones because there's a little tab to hide the zipper on top). You have to cut the feet though obviously. He wore that all of the last Fall/Winter season, thankfully he's over it now...

 

I second the backwords pj's i found that Gap, had some without feet, so that they were still snug on the bottoms as opposed to cutting off the feet, I had tried sleep sacks backwords, and they managed to get out of those, of course it was a day, when I was packing up, cause we were doing major construction in our house, and I was just ignoring the noise and smell from their room, until I came to a poop covered room, tried to wash her off, had no lights, and no water in my bathroom, FUN FUN

 

I really like this idea of cutting up footie pajamas... they are so short their feet are never in them anyway, plus they have DH's caveman feet which stretch out the feet (width-wise). This could work! (Now bring on the sub-zero temperatures!)

 

Yep - been there too - it is NO fun! Backward PJ's was the answer for us.

 

We also did backwards pj's. Gap even had some that were short sleeved for spring/summer. Doesnt work for nap though! It was a relatively short lived phase. Now mine can wear anything to bed and will keep it on.

 

I didn't want to cut up footie pjs so I put them on inside out. It's much harder to get the zipper down that way since they can't flip the zipper up and pull it down.

 

Interesting! I'll try this first- once it's cold enough, that is.

 

We did inside out AND backwards pj's for a while, until we pt'd.

 

yep, the zippers on backwards, and inside out if you can! the feet on footed pjs just kinda turn around fine, if they are big enough. if you have any that are just cotton you could use those now, but yeah, the fleece ones are a bit hot!

you could always go to a thrift store to see if you can find any cheap that you wouldn't mind cutting the legs off!

as for potty training... maybe they are ready, but realistically they are probably just not tired enough at naptime and are finding something to do to keep their minds awake... hope you figure out how to keep everyone clean!
