We have been using Huggies Overnights forever. Well, we are having trouble with leaks now, and I'm getting tired of changing crib sheets 3-4 mornings a week. I took them up to a size 6, which did help a bit (they seem to run small - they are around 28 and 30 pounds, and the size 6 say 35lbs and up).

Are there other options?? I know Pampers has overnight diapers, and I noticed there are overnight "pull-ups" type things for 2T and up (they are starting to wear 2T clothes).

The thing is, most mornings they don't seem all that wet. I have tried limiting their water at night, and I'm very careful how I put the diapers on. I have also tried pointing their penis down, and that seems to make little difference.

    I would appreciate any ideas!

We were having lots of leaks for awhile. (We use Fisher Price Happy Nights) I started cutting off juice and water 90 minutes before bed. They only get milk at dinner. It seems to really have helped. Now we only have the occasional leak.

Try the pampers pull up. I ran out of diapers a couple weeks ago and used pull ups on the twins. They're only 18lbs and they worked fine. So I'm sure your boys would be fine. I was stuck using nighttime pullups on ds for a while when he was this age. Annoying I know!!!

I would also suggest to use a maxi pad...that helped the leaking with both my daughter and son. Good luck!

We've also had this problem. We tried many different overnight diapers, I've doubled diapers, we have covered them with the thin waterproof pants which worked sometimes and sometimes not, etc. I don't limit their liquid intake, so what we eventually did and still do that works is use Huggies Overnights covered with these from Target: Waterproof Training Pants. It's the only thing that keeps them dry and, believe it or not, they still leak through sometimes if they've had lots of liquid late in the day.
I'd give the combo a try and I bet your problem will be solved.

We are having the exact same issue. My kids are around 32 pounds each at almost 21 months and only recently have they started waking up soaked through pajamas and sleep sacks and onto their sheets (they sleep on their tummies) while wearing their size 5 Huggies Overnights. We had leaking for a while when we started using the overnight diapers as they were sleeping through 12-13 hours at night and we figured out how to best fasten the diaper and to make sure that no part of their pajamas might get tucked into the top of the diaper and wick out the wetness. We are obviously still using our same methods, but they're waking up soaked! I don't like the idea of limiting fluid intake in the later day as where we live it's HOT HOT HOT and I want to make sure that they are well hydrated. Obviously they are if they're soaking themselves lol. I just ordered size 6 in the Overnights, but I'm not too hopeful as I found that when we tried a size 6 in our Pampers that we use during the day they were leaking through the leg holes as those were too loose. Basically it seemed like the diaper just didn't fit their bodies correctly. Hopefully this won't be the case with the size 6 of the Huggies Overnights! I'm interested though to try the Pull Ups and see if those make any difference. At least the pulling up aspect would reduce chance of user error in fastening the diaper slightly off which also results in leaking. (my husband is guilty of this and just won't listen to me about how he has to do up the diaper!)

In my personal experience (and we've been dealing with this for a while :), going up a diaper size (we also went from 5 to 6) didn't make any difference at all. And, I bought the pull-ups too which, unfortunately, did not help either because they are the same material/absorbency of the regular diapers (I think even less absorbency than overnight diapers--at least the ones I bought).

I have found that the only thing that helps is if you have some waterproof barrier. The reason the waterproof training pants that I posted about above are so nice is because they are a thick underwear-type material covered with plastic with thick elastic around the waist. If you don't have luck using whatever methods you try, really, try them.

When my kids were younger we used to use two diapers - one right over the other. We put the second diaper on much higher in the front. Now that they are older, we stopped allowing drinks upstairs, which means they get no drinks from the time we go upstairs to start getting ready for bed which has really cut down on the amount of pee in the middle of the night.

Seems like you tried all the likely things. I used Pampers Extra Protection (purple box) when my boys started leaking and they worked great. I fastened them on high and TIGHT and of course made sure that wiener was pointed down. I have always had leaking problems with Huggies, even during the day. Now, I am a strict Pampers person. Good luck!

My kids are big night time wetters and the only thing that keeps them dry are the Fisher Price Happy Nights diapers. They are amazing!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try those night time diapers and see if they work any better than the Huggies. If not, I'm going to get some of the training pants and try putting those over the diaper. I've tried limiting their drinks in the evening even more strictly, and it still hasn't helped.

How did the weekend go? Did you have any success?

I could only find the Pampers overnight diapers in my local stores, so I tried those. One day they both woke up wet, but this morning they both woke up dry. So we will see how tonight goes. I ordered the Fisher Price Happy Nights to try, too - they should be here the middle of this week. So we're still experimenting, but it was GREAT not to have to change sheets this morning!!!

I don't know if these will help with your problem or not, but I just bought a couple of packs of these Dappi Vinyl Diaper Pants. Our 28 month old boys have been doing great in Huggies Overnights for a long time now and rarely leak through. Though they do seem to be getting fuller and fuller with pee in the mornings. So I bought these in anticipation of wet overnight diapers, plus potty training (which we'll be doing sometime in the future). I had read about the Gerber vinyl training pants and most people seem to hate them these days because they are so loud and uncomfortable, according to the reviews anyway. Though the ones BOST posted a link to actually look better and softer than the clear vinyl ones I was referring to. Anyway, these Dappis arrived a few weeks ago and they seem incredibly soft to be vinyl. And they are cheap too, and get pretty good reviews. But like I said I don't have first hand experience yet. However, the minute our boys start overflowing their nighttime diapers I'll be putting these over top of them in hopes that they help :)

Thanks - I will add these to my list of things to try. I'm not giving up until I find a solution - I'm tired of all the laundry and changing sheets.

I had my first experience of a leaking diaper last night at 4h00. ( I use Pampers and this is the first time this has happened, normally they stay dry for 12 hours) Thank you for posting this. I am on a mission to find waterproof diaper covers now.

Don't forget to email the company to complain. Wyatt's pampers which we have used from day one started leaking a few weeks ago so I email pampers and explained that we had always used them but did they change them somehow because this batch we bought was leaking and they sent us 4 $10.00 off coupons for pampers along with an apology.

I didn't even think of complaining. I will phone the customer careline.

Good idea! I called Kraft a few months ago to see if there was any soy in their Easy Mac. I wasn't even complaining, but my boys would get the same symptoms as when they ate something with soy, so I was really wanting to see if there was anything hidden in there (some companies label soy and some do not). The guy offered to send me some coupons, and when I got them, it was actually for 6 FREE things (he asked me what Kraft products we use and that is what the coupons were for).

ETA: They were BOTH dry again this morning!! :clapping: So so far the Pampers seem to be better than the Huggies for now. It's been weeks since we had two dry mornings in a row.

How funny - we switched from the Huggies to the Pampers a couple of weeks ago, and they have peed through their PJs on multiple occasions since then. I am using up my stock and then going back to Huggies or trying the FPHN ones!

I also have some inserts from my delusional days of attempting cloth diapering.....I may stick those in their overnights and see what happens. Has anyone tried that before?

We used pamper overnite before. It leaked. Pamper baby dry is the best for us. Gl!

Since posting this, I have had trouble with my 1 year old son leaking out his diaper (Pampers Baby Dry). I remembered that with the twins, I would fold the top 1/2 inch or so of the diaper inward so it formed kind of like a pocket to keep the pee from escaping (a tip from a mother with 5 boys). Then I secured the diaper tightly close to the fold. So far, so good.

I swear by Huggies Overnights (at least for my girls). My boy who is 13 mos leaks out of EVERYTHING. So I have found the only thing that keeps his PJs dry is a Huggies Overnight, penis tucked down. Then over that diaper I put on one of his big sister's Overnight pullups for older kids! It's huge and goes up almost to his nipples! But he stays dry, gosh darn it! LOL!
