I got an email today with the pre-k supply lists. I still don't which teacher the girls will have or if they will be in the same class(we left it up to the school), but my god supplies are going to be expensive. I'm secretly wishing for one teacher over another right now because her supply list is shorter (terrible I know). Regardless of which teacher they get I have to send in 20 glue sticks the first day of school! That is a lot of glue. Less than 3 weeks until my ladybugs start school.

One of my facebook friends just commented on the very same thing. She lives in Denver and her kindergartner is supposed to bring 20 glue sticks too. I just looked at the list for my school and it says each kindergartner is supposed to bring 8 LARGE glue sticks. Still seems like a lot, but I guess they do a lot of gluing at that age. :)

I'm sure this is all going to be communal property and I'm fine with providing the teachers with whatever they need (since if the parents don't, the teachers will have to), but my gosh its a lot of stuff to bring in that first day. I feel like my kids will need rolling luggage to bring in everything!!!

I think I'm going to start stockpiling all of this stuff now, so that when my crew goes to school, I will already have it all! Man oh man! I probably could send them with 10 boxes each of crayons already...

Good heavens! Does each kid bring the same stuff or do they have a different child bring crayons (for example) that seems like a LOT of glue!

I remember last year watching the kids get on the school bus. Some of them had backpacks so stuffed, I thought the weight of them was going to make the kids fall.

When my girls went to pre-K, we did the free universal pre-K, and didn't need to supply anything.

My nanny's daughter just got her supply list, and every child has to bring a can of coffee. :umm:

A can of coffee, or a coffee can (empty)? I think I would be fussing if it's really a can of coffee.

That's a lot of glue to eat. Are they serving it at snack time?

I don't have to provide anything but lunch and bedding for our pre-K, but I am paying over 2K a month for it. I would cry if I had to provide stuff like glue sticks and crayons. OTOH, I understand the importance of coffee and would donate multiple cans if I had to.

    Ew push pop glue!

I really love the coffee teacher. I'm sure she grades the parents on the type of coffee provided too. Perks for the kids that bring Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks!

I feel your pain! Not exactly sure how many glue sticks kids use these days, but I'm pretty sure the 24 per child that I sent to school with my girls will not be all used. Including the 12 my son had to have, I had to buy 60 glue sticks for this year...I swear I need to buy some Elmer's stock.

I have no idea how they would each use that many glue sticks. That's crazy. We always stock up this time of year for our house, but the kids usually are only asked to bring in 3 or so. Target has a 3 pack of the jumbo glue sticks for $1.50 and a 2 pack of the regular size for .40. I think there was a 6 pack of the regular glue sticks for $1.50.

Woah. I won't complain about the measly 20. Came home today to the letters from the school. My girls are in different classes! Meara is excited, Ana is sad "because I want to spend all my time with Meara.". I think it will be good for them...I hope.

our lists didn't give us specific amounts to send - it just said pencils and glue sticks...I bought each of them the jumbo pack of 3 sticks and a 24 pack of pencils...

    coffee - really??
