why did my trick fail? pullups OVER undewear

So i took my very recently trained daughter out today, it was our first time being away from the house for an extended period of time. I didnt want to put her in a pullup/diaper, but I wasn't brave enough to take her fully unprotected. I thought if I put the pull up on over her underwear, she wouldn't feel as if she was wearing some protection, but she would still be protected.

Luckily she made it dry the whole time, but when I was bringing in groceries, and she was inside, she had an accident, the pull up didnt hold all the liquid I don't know if it was because the pull ups are a little big on her tiny bum, or they are slightly less absorbant, and passing through the underwear made it not work as well?


I also thought that if she didnt use the pull up, I could just reuse it, now that she has had a handful of waking up from nighttime and naps dry, i never know how gross it is to reuse those dry pullups/diapers. Any thoughts on this?

 

I've reused dry diapers and pull ups. I think as long as the diaper and pull up are in good shape, you can reuse them. It sounds like your daughter is off to a very good start with PT-ing!
As for the pull up leak, I think you could be right...depending on her shape, it could be too big.

 

For my girls the huggies pull ups always leaked, but the pampers ones worked. I also reused dry pull ups after naps or bedtime. Sounds like she is doing great!

 

We reuse them too. If they wake up from a nap dry, we save the pull up for bedtime.

We had the opposite experience here. Maybe it's the shape of the bum in relation to the shape of the pullup or something?

 

I reuse all the time! In fact, it is like a prize for the girl who didn't go in her pull up all night to get to reuse it the next night! Same thing when we had to use them during the day.

Do your pull ups leak without the underwear? Might have just been how they went on over the underwear, not centered or something to have a leak.
