Hello- Thought I'd join. Just found out we're expecting twins at our first u/s on Tuesday at 7 weeks. Could not believe it. My hubby is an identical twin, but since it has nothing to do with him we weren't expecting it at all - there are no twins of any kind in my family. And the night before the u/s I told him there was no way we could be having twins because my symptoms have been so mild (cramping, fatigue, headaches). I guess there is plenty of time for them to get worse (I'm going to be positive and say they won't though). Secretly DH has been hoping for twins I know it! I spent the first 3 years of our marriage telling him we weren't going to have twins no matter how much he wanted them. So now of course we are. We are first time parents, 36(me)/39(dh). Umm.. I think that's about it. Did I say we're having twins.. I still just can't believe there's two little beans in there - well besides the fact that they are sucking all of my energy lol! I guess that's something I will just have to get used to for awhile. I'm sure once I get over the shock I will start freaking out, but I'm not there quite yet. =)

Congratulations!!! And :welcome: My girls were our first as well - and I have to admit, I never moved passed excited to terrified. :pardon: It wasn't till they sent me home with two babies that I thought "What the heck do I do now??" But it all worked out & now we're having another, so it must have been okay. ;)

Having a set of twins is amazing!! I never in a million years would have thought that we would have a set and when we found out we were having twins, I was in such shock!! They still shock me each and every day and they are 4 now LOL!! But oh my goodness it is the coolest thing ever!!!

Congratulations! I am one of half of fraternal twins (g/b). I never, in eleventy billion years, thought that I would have twins. My twin brother wished and hoped, but it was not to be, he and his wife have singletons (a boy and a girl).

When I went in for my first ultrasound the tech said, "Ok, there's one heart beat, did you see it? Now here's the other one." You could have knocked me over with a feather, literally. I was in utter and complete shock.

Now that my girls are here and are nearly 3 (I can't believe it!) I am just estatic. Raising them is the thing in my life that I am most proud of.

    Take care and congrats again!

congrats and welcome to TS!!!! I was SO surprised that I was even pregnant when we found out. I thought i had a cyst (which i did) but when the midwife said lets do an ultrasound to check on it and then when we went in and she said i was pregnant oh and it looks like twins i looked at the screen and she went yup twins and said see the heart beats? I starting crying. She was like i hope those are happy tears. At the time they were and also scared and shocked we are now 31weeks and 2 days along and im still scared and shocked but also excited. This site helped me a ton and i hope it helps you too. :welcome: :youcandoit:

Congratulations! I'm 15 weeks along and this is my first pregnancy so I don't have any words of wisdom other than I think it's normal to go from excited to petrified and back again. I hope you continue to feel good!

Tobaira--congrats!!!! I'm almost 15 wks and I haven't had ANY morning sickness. I know someone having triplets and neither has she! But I have had the other pregnancy symptoms and that is all I need!! I was prepared for hearing twins at the ultrasound because we had to use fertility meds. I do have an aunt and uncle that are twins, so we are very excited...but nervous! We are going to be first-time parents as well. Best wishes to you!!

I remember that shock! I was 21wks and we had no clue! I was measuring big for me - meaning, on track! LOL I had always measured small. My doc said it was my 4th baby so I was finally adhering to 'the book'. I was sicker with my singleton girl, no more tired than the others....nope - no signs at all otherwise.

It will be neat to see if your beans end up being identical or not! :)

There is a study out there about an enzyme on the male sperm that "they" think might be a factor in splitting an egg. So it maybe in the future found out that identical twins run in the father's side. http://www.twinslist.org/idfaq.htm

    CONGRATS!!! How exciting!!!
