Austin and Miles just learned how to get out of their cribs. Dammit. :wine:

In the immortal words of Scooby Doo...Rot-ro. My DD starting adventuring out of her crib at 19 months, I seriously almost cried, well maybe I did cry  But she did pretty decent with a transition to a toddler bed. It took her a couple of weeks to settle down and I would have to sit with her in her room during nap time to get her to settle.

Not to start a hot button issue but... We totally invested in crib tents. Complete sanity saver here :)

I thought about crib tents, but I decided to just bite the bullet.. cribs are gone, mattresses are on the floor, husband is out buying closet locks.. no turning back now!

They're not happy to be locked in their rooms. And I wouldn't be either.. it's smokin hot up there!?

We can't leave the window open because there is a window seat underneath and they could crawl up and fall out.. partly irrational fear, partly just not underestimating them. We don't have a/c here because we don't get tons of hot weather... what to do, what to do?

Hmm...that's tough. Do you have a fan? One maybe you can put up out of reach? I just know, when it's hot, my crew is *miserable* sleeping. Can you take of their pj's at least? And maybe search for an ac or fan tomorrow? Can you crack the window open and block it so it can't be opened any farther?

I hope tonight overall, goes smoothly! I'm probably no help, as those things were never worries with my boys. But thinking on my toes, maybe that's what I would try.

Maybe put a ceiling fan in there?

That is a great idea! I hate the light in their room anyway.. I think I'll be shopping for a ceiling fan. I was trying to think of how to wall mount a fan, but they'd get to cords. They're into EVERYTHING. A ceiling fan would probably be perfect.

We have success! Two sleeping boys. Austin first fell asleep right next to the door and we couldn't even get the door open to check on him because he was all sweaty and stuck to the floor! Poor bub. But we put him on his bed and he went right to sleep a couple minutes later. Miles was already sleeping on his bed when we went to check on them.

What a day! I was just thinking yesterday that I would try and keep the kids in their cribs until the end of summer so we could keep the windows open.. I guess I jinxed myself!

Such cuties! Glad they went to sleep for you! Spencer's not climbing out yet, but he figured out opening doors today. I need to get a hook for up high on the front and back doors, since he LOVES to go outside.

What about using a baby gate ( or 2 stacked if they are good climbers) on their door and settling up a fan right outside their bedroom? What cute picture! My girls sleep like that too with their little hands tucked under their hips.

What an adorable photo. My girls started climbing out at 18 months so we moved them to toddler beds at that point.

If baby # 3 does the same thing he'll be getting a crib tent. He may be in a crib up until he leaves for college.

That picture is so sweet!! What cuties! :D Good luck with the transition. I was so afraid of my guys trying to climb out of their cribs, but they have either zero interest, or zero comprehension that it's even possible. I have caught them trying to climb *into* their cribs, however. My kids are weird. ;)

My ultimate fear...that is why I still have them in XL sleep sacks (to keep their little legs from getting too much freedom). LOL

Tonight we put a baby gate up in the doorway but we can still close the door so they'll at least settle down. Theoretically.. it's 10:20 right now and they're still running around their room like wild things. :faint:

As to being not being able to open their window, I bought a lock for our window which allows it to open just a few inches and stop. They sell them at home improvement stores in the safety/theft area around here.

Mine just started climbing out 2 nights ago. I took the matress supports off and put the matresses on the floor with the cribs still around them. The matresses are thick enough that there is no gaps. I cried when they did it, I love that you went for it, I just can't-yet. Love the pic!

Does your window slide open or does it swing open? Ours swings and I haven't been able to find a latch. Actually.. scratch that.. my non-handy husband (god bless him) did the trip to home depot, so there could very well be things that lock the windows but he didn't know where to look.

Miles went to sleep around 10:30 last night, Austin was up until after midnight! And they were up at about 8 am... so I have some pretty tired boys today. Oh well, I guess it's just going to be a few days/weeks of not a lot of sleep until they adjust. Work in progress!

Mine slide open- I forgot about swinging windows.

Whew- I hope they sleep better tonight.
