My boys are turning 2 in July and am wondering what your 2 year olds love to play with, what educational toys/books do they love.

    Thanks in advance! :)

Blocks, cars, little people sets, all kinds of books, their play kitchen and food... thats all I can think of right now.

My girls loved and still do, anything dress up. They got a doctor kit and a tool set and they still play with them every day. They have costumes and dress up clothes that also get played with every day.

Another big hit has been puzzles, they can now do 24-48 piece puzzles on their own but when they just turned two we had some 12 piece wooden ones that they really enjoyed.

Any and all of these would be great! We have doodle pads and the blocks, and they love to play with that cube thing at our library. We didn't have the alphabet thing, but if you can handle the noise, sure (vtech toys seem to grate on my nerves more than other noisy toys). Happy shopping!

We tried so many different types of puzzles with the boys and they spent more time hiding all the pieces that we now have puzzle boards with blank spots because we cannot find the pieces...lol

Thanks [member='Leighann'] ! Oh and the noise thing isn't a problem, I have two very loud boys [IMG]

We love the doodle pads, get two because they will fight over them! I also have small ones in the diaper bag, they work great for at restaurants or in the car.

We love blocks too, they like to stack them and knock them down, over and over again. We retired the cube we had awhile ago, they never played with it for more than 5 mins or so, but maybe it's because we've had it since birth?!

Puzzles are a big hit here too, we have at least 20 of them and they love to sit and do them over and over. I keep the pieces in ziploc bags, and keep the boards and bags in a storage container, they don't get to play with them by themselves so they don't lose the pieces. After about 9 yrs (we've had most of them from our oldest son), there's only 2 pieces missing! GO US!

Anything with buttons and noise will be fun, but likely won't hold their attention for very long. Active items like slides/playsets, or imagination toys like dress up, and toy kitchen's, will keep their attention for longer periods of time.

If this toy had been released when my kids were 2 I would have bought it... even now I think that my son would LOVE it, I just can't justify buying a toddler toy at this age. But oh would he have loved it.

Mostly he played with duplo, play food/dishes. He loves the Melissa and Doug stacking train still. Otherwise, puzzles definitely (mine are just getting into the 24 pieces ones). He only got his first trains and cars at 2.5 but that's a good option too, he's totally obsessed now.

Can I just ditto this? (Especially the play food -- they're 5.5 and they still play with it regularly.)

Also, my kids liked any variety of the "put small things into a bag/box/purse/cart/wagon and carry/push/drag it around" game. They could be very happy with a bunch of old purses from Goodwill and a giant pile of play food, random small plastic toys, etc. In fact, sometimes it seemed like no matter what toys we gave them or what the actual purpose was, that's all they did with them!
