It's that time of year again...let's hear your ideas for preschool teacher gifts.

We bought the school the Pinkalicious and Purplicious books. The teachers hadn't heard of the books until I read one this year. We'll give them to each teacher assigned to each girl.

I'm going to have the girls make a card of course but I also want to get something small for all 4 of them. :good:

At our preschool one parent collects money from each kid to get the teachers a gift certificate to our downtown area. :good: And each kid makes a page "My favorite thing to do with...." to go in a book for each teacher.

If we didn't all give money for a combined gift card, that is what I normally get them anyway, a gift card. I've done Barnes and Noble, Panera Bread and Borders in the past.

We're doing the money thing like Amy. :good: We're buying them a gift certificate to a nice restaurant in town. I also got their teacher a cute mug that says her name and school name on it. I was planning on putting a DD or Starbucks gift card in there but now that we're doing the class gift I won't be. ;)

I did Dunkin's g.c.'s for Christmas and they all went nuts. So I guess I'll do another gift card. :good:

We got the teachers a Bath and Body Works card (just in case you need a suggestion  )

    I agree-gift cards are awesome!

I did see a really cute gift idea, I think in either Parenting or FamilyFun.

The mother found an old school house lamp. Just a small table lamp. Really cute. And then she got a plain white lamp shade, and had the whole class write their names on it. And she had written "Mrs _________, you light up our lives." Something to that effect! I put that in my mental filing cabinet! :)

We usually do gift cards b/c I figure they use so much of their own money on stuff for the class. But, in the past I have done a small potted flower or plant and painted "Thank you for helping us/me grow" on it.

Last year I got the teachers a small plant and a gift card to Meijer. They can use it for whatever they want, things for their classroom or even groceries!

That's a good idea Jen. We have a Super Wal-Mart and Super Target around here. Maybe one of those places...

Oh I like that idea! So cute and easy! As a teacher, I can tell you that I love gift cards that I can enjoy with my family. They sacrifice so much throughout the year because of my job. I love to be able to take them out to dinner in the summer when money is tight (most teachers do not get paid in the summer; you have to save wisely). So restaurant gift cards are a fave here.

I bought a plaque from Uppercase Living because they were on sale and cute. Plus a Starbucks gift card and some homemade pens by the girls.

I'll be in this forum in Sept, but we plan to give the teacher a massage/pedicure gift card. :)

I did Blood Orange Oil/ Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar and Greek Salad Dressing spice gift sets for our teachers this year. We have a really neat spice store (Penzey's) and an awesome Oil/Vinegar store (The Tasteful Olive). The teachers loved them!

We gave them $15 gift cards to Kohls (one to the teacher, teacher's aid in the classroom, and to the girl assigned to sit with them on the bus all year)

I give them a butterfly bush (its a perennial- I dont know the exact name). Each boy has two teachers plus the director. The bush is 12.99. If I could afford it, I would love to give them a gift card along with it but I just can't. When I taught, I always said I was going to give big teacher gifts! I so wish I could!

The books sound like a wonderful gift for the teachers! Adding a handmade card from the kids is a nice personal touch. For something small, you could consider gift cards or small plants. I recently saw some good deals on inbox dollars that could help you save a bit on these gifts. Personalized items like mugs or tote bags could also be appreciated. It's the thought that counts, and these ideas show your gratitude beautifully.
