I was hoping to get opinions on the best baby carrier/sling type. I have a baby bjorn, but I was hoping to get a wrap/sling type of carrier. I want one that is easy to put on by yourself, I don't want one that you need a second person to tie you in. I have newborn twins and would like something to free up my hands if possible.

    Thanks!

I don't have a double carrier as those (or any other type) are not for sale over here, but I did read the Weego Twin Carrier is good. A regular sling should work too with newborns.

I love me Ergo and have heard good things about Beco.

For little ones, I loved my Moby wrap, I would even use it with both babies until that just got too heavy. Now I love my Ergo, and with 2 Ergos can wear one baby on front and the other on back. Babywearing is so great for our family!

i second the Moby! love it. i didn't use one for my twins, but i've been using one with my sister's new baby & could see how it would be easy to adjust for two babies (they even include instructions for two babies).

love love love love loved my Moby! I loved carrying the twins in it. So easy to use once you watch the video once or get the person at the store to show you. So soft but good support for you. I saw one that you could carry both babies as bigger babies/toddlers but it was well over $100 so a big nope for me :)

could you get into it by yourself when no one else was home?

could you get into it by yourself when no one is around to help? It looked complicated to me.

I could absolutely get it on with both boys by myself...It was what saved my sanity some days since they would usually fall asleep in it. I got mine as a hand me down and had a hard time learning how to tie it from the website, so I ended up having someone show me how to use it in person. It was at a baby wearing meeting for my local twins group. She showed me how to get one baby in, and when I got comfortable with one, I just tried two out of necessity on one particularly screamy day when I was by myself. I'd find someone to show you how to use it and when you get comfortable with it, it will be a no brainer to get the other baby in. Good luck!

I loved my Moby AND Ergo. I bought some semi-stretchy fabric that didn't fray when cut from the fabric store, so I was able to make 2 Moby's for the cost of a real Moby ($40). It took some getting used to wrapping it, but there are several youtube videos out there that will help. After doing it myself a few times I had no problems at all. I used the Moby when I had a tired baby, because a baby would sleep awesome in it, while letting me get work done. Initially my husband would use a Baby Bjorn, but after seeing me put a screaming baby in a Moby and seeing him fall asleep within 5 minutes even DH learned how to use a Moby and used it often. If we had alert babies and needed to get stuff done we would wear them in a bjorn facing outward so they would be content watching us cook, etc. The Ergo was also good for sleepy babies, especially once they were heavier when the Moby didn't work as good. I still have my Ergo even though it hasn't been used in over a year. I just haven't been able to bring myself to sell it on CL or ebay because it was so wonderful. Oh, and a mom of triplets in my MOMs group also used 2 Ergos to wear one on front and one on the back like a PP. She RAVES about Ergos to this day and her triplets are like 5 years old now.

I have a long classic wrap-around sling (something like this: http://www.tragehilfen.de/tragehilfen.html#1-didymos-tuch) and it is very versatile, I used it for one and both babies beginning more or less at birth. Here are some pictures of twins (http://www.didymos.de/cgi-bin/didy.pl?trage_init.htm). It does take a bit of practice for tying and getting it to sit tightly and comfortably for both you and the babies - I practiced with teddy bears while I was pregnant - but it is totally doable on your own and I love it.
I also have a ring sling which I really like because it is quick and easy to use but I never managed to carry more than one baby in it.
During the "witching hour" I would often put the calmer baby in either of the slings and carry the fussier one in my arms because she often needed to be rocked lying on her tummy.
Lastly, we have a Manduca (I am not sure if they are sold in the US) which is really easy to handle but not ideal for a small newborn and only suitable for one baby.
You can tell we are really into carrying the babies, the best thing for free hands and for happy babies! If my DH had not protested I would probably have even more options including a Moby.

Oh yeah I could totally do it alone. And with some practice, I started wearing it out and I would just put it on at home and when I got to where ever we were going I could pull Wyatt out load him into the Moby and go around to the other side of the car and bend down, get Willa Grace out of her carseat and load her up too!

Bought the Moby today! It was my mother's day gift to myself and since it was at target I didn't wait just ran and got it. I already used it and liked it a lot. I got into it myself as well so it wasn't too hard. I haven't tried the two at once yet, but I've only had it a few hours :)

I also LOVE my Moby wrap and after the first time it's super easy. I was scared of the wraps and didn't get one with my singleton (I had a ring sling for him and a Snuggli and hated them both) but they are the most comfortable...I still use it with my girls (not together) and they are each about 24 lbs.

Like one of the PPs said I would put it on at home when they were young and then just pop them in when I got to where I was going.

Depends on how much "ease" you want -- there's wraps and then there's carriers. Wraps --you have to learn each way to carry/tie them, but they are great once you get the hang of it!!!! And then there's carriers like the Ergo and Beco , etc.

The Ergo is amazing and has aaaamazzzing reviews. I found it more comfortable than the Beco to wear.

As for wraps, I am in love with the Storchenweige wraps! Durable--real workhorse wraps!! Yet soft too.

I'm glad you got the Moby! I LOVE my Moby (used it last night on a walk, actually). Tying it becomes second nature.

I so missed the days when I could no longer use the Moby. :( Babywearing is one of the things I miss most from that first year!

I have the twintrexx baby carrier from My link

It takes a bit of practice to get both babies on by yourself, but once figured out, it's pretty awesome. The best thing is it breaks apart into 2 seperate carriers, and you can carry one in front, one behind.

I havent read through all the responses so maybe this was mentioned. But if you go to YouTube and search moby wrap there are tons of videos of moms showing you how tie it up and get the kids inside.

We went from 2 in 1 stretchy wrap, to 2 ring slings and now at 9.5 months I prefer a wrap on front and ssc on back. I did all three by myself but the slings took a bit of getting used to. Yu could also do a stretchy and a ring sling. I am always tandem wearing at this point.
