I don't know if I should get too excited yet but this week has been huge for sleep. The babies have slept 9-4 or 5 and one day 10-6:30! We have to get up and give DS his pacifier 1 or 2 times while DD just sleeps so sound! After the early morning feed they go back to sleep for 2 or 3 hours! I am hoping this is not just a fluke as we feel human again! The question is about the pacifiers. These are our first babies who have used a pacifier. I didn't want to but in the beginning we had colic issues and to save sanity we went with them. They are not completely "hooked" and often fall asleep in their swing or in the car with out them and often sleep at naps with out them after using to fall asleep. The problem is how do we get them to sleep those nice long hours without playing the pacifier game? Granted getting up for a minute to plug them (usually him) is better than hours but it disrupts our sleep and his. I am thinking about going cold turkey with them once they hit 6 mo and are eating some solids. Any thoughts on breaking them? Thanks and good night! Here's to another good night sleep! :wine:

Mom0f6 - We had the exact same problem! DS fell asleep with a paci but didn't need any middle of the night plugging. DD didn't start out hooked on her paci. But, by the time I pulled the plug - I was getting up to plug her like 4-5 times a night which was really counterproductive. I went cold turkey at that point (I think she was about 5 months)and it only took her 2 days to work it out. Good Luck!

We played the paci game until they learned to put them in their own mouths (I honestly can't remember when this was.. 6 months?) And we didn't give them up until about 15 months when they became more hassle than they were saving us. I think they're a useful tool with twins, there will be times where you just don't have enough arms to deal with both at the same time, so it might be handy to keep him on a paci for a while.

Also wanted to add.. yay for sleep and feeling human! Hopefully you're over that hump for good!

If you are brave enough, do it. At some point they do learn to put it back in but I do think it was like 6 mo.. Last time DS loved teh binkie and I remember playing that game adn DD didn't like it and it was harder to get her to sleep and comfort her. My Babies both take binkies this time so I am sure we will get to that point. Right now my babies are going 7 pm to 3 and then right back until 6:30 or 7. It is great.

That is awesome! I would like to put the babies down earlier than 9pm but I am afraid they will wake sooner and then we don't get as much sleep since we go to bed around 10:30pm. Any tricks to get them to bed earlier and sleeping through?
