DS has two bottles of EBM while I am at work during the day. I am going to start supplementing with one bottle of formula tomorrow, so I can begin to wean him during the day and only BF in the morning and at night. Should I mix the formula and EBM at first to get him used to it, or for those who have supplemented, did you find your DS/DD accepted the formula with no problems? Thanks!

I always just mixed it. I don't have any real information on it, just that I did it and she liked it :)

I did not mix it, just because I hated having to pour away any EBM if a bottle was not finished. So I would offer half a bottle of EBM and then another half bottle with formula.

We had no problems with the taste of formula, but we had supplemented in the first month so maybe they remembered the taste and accepted that milk does not always taste the same.

Thanks for the suggestions. I went ahead for today and mixed the EBM with formula for both bottles, but I can relate to PP on not wanting to waste any EBM. He took the first one with no problem, but my mom said he was slower to drink the second one. I think it was because he wasn't very hungry at the time though probably because the formula and the solids filled him up more than just the EBM and solids usually do.

It is wonderful. With the twins being 4, it made it so much easier. We had an adjustment in the beginning because the twins were only used to sharing my attention with each other and not someone else, so the temper tantrums definitely increased for a while, but they have adjusted well, and they adore their baby brother. We made sure that several months before he was born, we worked on getting them to do as much by themselves as they could - get dressed, get breakfast (depending on what they wanted), brush teeth, etc., so they would already be in that routine when he was born.

Good luck with everything and enjoy!!

Breastmilk first followed by formula. Ditto so you don't throw any of the liquid gold out!
