Hi all. I suspect I may have spd. I have severe pain whenever I walk, get dressed, climb stairs and when im moving in bed. I feel like im crippled. I even had to leave work at just 21 weeks. So now im home and barely move. I plan on discussing this next appointment. Has anyone else experienced spd? Its such a painful condition and has me worried as to whats in store for me

I had SPD with my last pregnancy and it was just awful. I stopped sleeping in bed in the early 20 weeks and that helped. The position on the recliner (with lots of small pillows for support) worked pretty well to keep the pain bearable.

I had no idea what this was until you posted this. I had severe pain with my singleton pregnancy and the doctor never said anything about spd. I now have the same pain with the twins and it seems to just be getting worse. The only way i can describe my pain is its like a pulling firery bruise that radiates from the inside of one thigh through the groin area and over to the other thigh when i move sit stand almost when i do anything. I never brought it up with the midwife but i think i may now. I know there isn't really anything to do about it but possibly take pain medication so i think i will discuss that with the midwife. Even rolling over in bed is extremely painfull and has brought me to tears several times. If you find anything that works for the pain other than pain meds let me know im willing to try anything.

The only thing that worked for me was not straining that area at ALL, which meant having a chair in the shower (buy them in a medical supplies store or pharmacy (larger chains)), not putting any pressure while standing, and sleeping in a recliner, which didn't strain the area at all. Your description sounds exactly what I experienced.

it actually doesn't hurt to bad while im standing its mainly when i walk and sit too long and then when i am laying down and go to roll over the other thing is that i would love to be able to chase after my 2 year old son while his dad is at work during the afternoon but the SPD keeps that from happening because its like you get into a comfortable position and dont' want to move after that. i have been doing pelvic lifts which seem to help a little

Thankfully, this horrid condition has gone away. All it took was going on maternity leave at 22 weeks (end of March), I couldnt do my job anymore and they basically forced me out lol I wanted to work until at least 28 weeks but my body shut down. Since ive been home and not on my feet for 10 hours a day 5 days a week.. I havent experienced SPD.
