ohhhhhh, I am fuming! Just found out during our work benefits meeting tomorrow AM we are to find out our deductible goes up from 3,000 to 5,000 for a family!! Omg really there are two of us preggo at work right now!! We are really getting shafted! It's like really there isn't another plan where we could pay a higher premium and keep the same deductible! I would pay 100 more a month!!! Uhhhhh!!

That stinks! My company switched to one of those high deductible plans but the out of pocket max actually ended up going down. I'm the only one happy with the change though because you pay 100% of everything until you reach the max and I'm the only one who expected to reach their max this year.

I feel your pain! My deductible was $7000 per family member. As the only woman in the office, I wasn't comfortable speaking up and asking if they could look at more competitive plan. It totally sucks, I know. But you can do it! Talk to the hospital social workers about filling out applications for a reduction in your hospital bills (they will often lower them if you can make payments) and just plug away at the remaining balance as slowly as you have to.

    I'm sorry it's happened!

Thanks everyone! ecubitzy yeah one of my outgoing coworkers really stood up for us during the meeting and the agent guy said this was the best plan out there, I will def take your advice about talking with the hosp to see what we can do! I've talked to the medicaid office we don't qualify but I've heard of people getting help with deductables or buying a plan through them kindof as a secondary ins to help, they also said if I go on bedrest and I'm off work we might qualify, but as it is we just have to wait and see :(

I'm so sorry- that is insane. We didn't qualify for Medicaid, either, but qualified for CHP+ , which is for lower income women who are pregnant. Look into that as the requirements are higher than Medicaid. It's called something different in each state, but it's there.

I am sorry, that does suck!!
I have high(ish) deductables to meet before insurance pays...not sure they ever really have to pay aside frm my deliveries but anyway....I just had to call the hospital and set up a payment plan-I have been on a constant payment play for as long as I can remember. <_<
