My girls seem to call each other by the opposite name. So Clare will call her self Sydney and Sydney will call her self Clare. They do not do it all the time, but it happens often. Does anyone else with same sex twins experience this? I can't tell if they are pulling my chain or if they are confused. Or are their any twins out there that remember doing this?

how old are they? my girls would often respond to either name & refer to themselves or each other by either name until they were a little bit past two. now they're pretty clear on who's who, but i think it's part of the development of understanding themselves as individuals separate from you as well as each other.

Mine did it too. A little after they turned 3 though, they became adament about their name.

Mine don't really call each other by name unless they are repeating what we have just said. But, they will call each other Sissy... and in photos... both of them are Sissy no matter if they are looking at themselves. I'm going to mention it at their 2 yr visit at the Dr., but i just figured it was a developmental thing, especially for ID twins.

I think it's a normal thing. My big girls did not do it when talking about themselves/to each other but they did do it when looking at themselves in the mirror or in photographs (and they're not identical). Also Ethan cannot say his own name and calls himself Eleanor or, if you really push him, me or mine!

My boys do this! I think it's pretty cute... especially when looking in the mirror!

One day when my idential girls were about three, Bianca said, "When I was baby, I was called Gabby." I stopped cold for a second--Had I mixed them up, permenately? Then I remembered, no not possible, Bianca was born with a mole on her bottom. But it really scared me for a second.

My girls will answer to both, but that's my fault. I've joked for years that it would make sense to just name them both Sabrydney.

They will be two in a few weeks. Just in the last week though, I have noticed that they are figuring out who is who. Cute when they are looking for each other.

oh - that was totally my fear when they were younger!!!!! We had anklets on them til we discovered their birthmarks were mirror images but oh boy - I still wonder at times! LOL

I have no experience myself with this yet as the boys aren't talking but my friend has frat girls and they did the same thing.
