I wanted to breastfeed. Keeping my sanity meant that I couldn't. My boys had problems latching and the stress of feeding them both by my myself round the clock was too much. So I pumped, and pumped, and pumped.

I told myself I would do it until I went back to work at 3 months.

Then I went back to work and told myself I would try for a little bit longer.

It's been a year. For 8 of those months my boys got just breastmilk. For 3 of them they got breastmilk plus 4 oz each of formula a day. And for one of them they got 75% breastmilk and 25% cows milk.

They are ready for straight cows milk and I am ready to move on.

I still wish they would have been breast fed but getting the milk is second best and let me keep my sanity.

Thanks to the people here for the posts that helped keep me motivated to make it a year.

    Awesome job!!!!! :woohoo: :clapping:

I nursed the first 4 or so months but kept getting recurrent mastitis infections and had horrible nipple trauma, my 35 weekers just never got their latch "just right" - so after some serious lectures from my OB and some serious pain and illness, I started pumping - and pumping - and pumping. I pumped until they were a year - and it was HARD! You should be SO VERY PROUD of yourself!!

    Way to go!!

AMEN TO THAT!!!! good for you for providing your babies BM even when nursing didnt go as expected. Pumping is the hardest thing Ive ever done in my life. Its physically, emotionally and mentally challenging especially when you grieve a nursing relationship. Congrats again on hanging up the horns! hehe

Wow, that's awesome that you pumped that whole time! What a great thing you've done for your babies. I thought I did well breastfeeding my twins for a year, but that was easy compared to you ;)

You rock!!!! Pumping is the pits. You deserve a medal, or better yet, a nice vacation. :)
