Yes thats what I have to take my girls to a specialist for the end of March. I was just wondering if they do get helmets how long they usually have to wear them.

How old are your kiddos? It really depends on age, severity of plagio and compliance with the wearing schedule.

My girls will be 5 months on in 2 days. The specialist we are taking them to is 3 1/2 hrs away. If they have to get the helmets do you know if we will have to drive to the specialist alot to adjust them or how does that work?

My daughter was born with severe cranial issues. One side of her head was basically smashed by her twin brother. It was so bad when she was born the nurses would not even show her to me. The pediatrician said that she would need a helmet if her head did not start to round out and if her eye didn't pop out...Left eye and side of head was kind of sunken in. there was no good improvement so I actually took her to a pediatric chiropractor and they do cranial work. We had to take her three times a week for a good 4 weeks, but even within one week the change was amazing. I still take her every other week and they still work on it. Their pediatrician is very impressed and happy with the improvement. After 2 weeks into the care they said she would no longer need a helmet. Which is great because the helmets can be so uncomfortable for them and it is something I did not want to do. I was nervous about the cranial work at first, but am so glad I did it. Your LO is young enough that it still could make a huge difference. Their heads aren't fully fused yet.

I think you should definitely make the decision that you think is best for your baby, but I just wanted to tell you about my daughter and maybe give you another possibility. It is something to look into as an alternative.

    Good luck!

my 6mo twins have had helmets for 7wks & it has not been bad. It does depends on age & severity. My babies had a moderate case & she estimated 12 wks.i have seen a lot of improvement already.

Our boys both had helmets and it was definitely manageable. We wore them for about 10wks and they started when they were 8 months old, 5 months adjusted. It certainly helped and was an easy decision as it was covered by insurance. We had to go every two weeks for an adjustment. Good luck!
