DD & DS's first birthday is coming up at the end of April and we're in the beginning stages of planning their party. DH and I got into a discussion about what we were going to buy them for their birthday. They really don't need any toys, and lord knows they will be given plenty. We thought maybe buying them new clothes for the summer, but that's just so not a fun gift.

So...what did you gift your twins for their first birthday?

We bought THIS (it was a barn though) as their "shared" gift that we knew they would grow into and play with a long time and they each got a new outfit and some money in their savings. If you have a large family (we do) and are doing a big party they are going to get a TON of toys so I suggest not buying until after you see what they receive as gifts:)

We have the Laugh & Learn Home playset. I bought it off my friend who's little girl outgrew it. Her daughter is a few days younger than my DD2 and I have no clue why she sold it. My DD2 (she's 2.5) plays with it all the time. My 4 and 5yr old like to play with it too. My 5yr old likes to climb on it though. The twins are still too little for it but we have laid them on their belly in front of it and and they love looking at it. One of the girls will push buttons or do something with it and the twins love it. Now Maddie is on the move so I think she'll start making her way over to play with it.

I have almost six more months to think about it but I'm thinking of something for outside. I have seen this cute little swing/climber combo. It's a decent price around $130. My friend has one and her kids love it. The twins' birthday is in August so we'll still have plenty of outside play time. We have enough baby dolls and play kitchen toys. No more inside toys!!!!

We got them leashes and clothes. I knew they didn't need anything and we didn't have room for anything big.

they have plenty plenty of toys. Gosh every time we walk in their play room, something talks, creepy! So we will get them outdoor toys.

    we got this: http://www.amazon.com/Little-Tikes-Swing-Along-Castle/dp/B00005BPPA

    here is the list:
    little tikes log cabin
    little tikes climber and slide
little tikes cars (not the battery ones)

We plan on getting 2 more (climber and cars). Im sure they will have a blast outdoor.

you can image search on google: little tikes.

They had tons of toys with sounds, lights, music, etc., so we bought them the Fisher Price Little People Noah's Ark (and they still love it). We also bought them each a music CD of kids songs. We went really low key since their birthday is 3 days after Christmas.

Little People sets are awesome!!!! Well except the car garage. I wasn't ever a big fan of it because the ramp never snapped together the way it was supposed too. I took it to my IL's. DS loved it and still plays with it when he's at their house and he's five and a half.

Little People sets are awesome! I found a bunch at a tag sale for $2.

For the boys first birthday, we got them cars. One was a power wheel, the other was not. And Anthony could figure out that powerwheel! LOL! Here's a video actually! HA!

For Annabella, we got her the pink CozyCoupe. So we got them outdoor toys!

I also agree with the Laugh-N-Learn sets. I have the kitchen one and the home one. At three, my boys STILL play with them. GREAT investment!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I like the idea of outdoor toys. We have too much stuff inside! Older DS (who will be 4 shortly before the twins bday) has a little tikes play house and loves it. I like the swing/slide combo someone posted.

And as far as adding to their savings, their godparents will write them a check for their birthday. They always send older DS $100 for his birthday and usually $50 for Christmas so they'll probably do the same for the twinkies. :)

We loved (when dd1 was little) the leap frog fridge magnets sets. ABC's were a big hit. For our twins they will be one June 18th so we will most likly get something for outside like a bouncer or ball pit. We have a nice wooden playhouse that for now big sister and her friends still use as a club house, we have 2 baby/toddler swings a friend is giving us plus my oldest has a swing and a horse tire swing, we have a plastic "playhouse" with slide set from when DD1 was little so we are thinking a jump o lene or a big ball pit would be fun.

My parents bought the kids a wagon for their 1st birthday.. that's probably the gift we've gotten the most use out of. We didn't buy them much because we knew that they'd get spoiled by everyone else.

Ohh, this is a good idea. Thank you!

Our boys got one for their birthday from their grandma and great-grandma - they absolutely LOVE it.

The zoo membership is an awesome idea - I wish we had a zoo closer. There is a very small one an hour from us which is not so great, but we are about 2.5 hours from the National Zoo in D.C. Our boys don't like long car rides at all, so we haven't tried that one yet!

We got them a huge sandbox and sand toys and a swing for the garden. They love the sandbox and spend hours in there as long as the weather is not freezing. And we gave them lots of books - you can never have enough books, at least my DH and I can't, and the LOs seem to have inherited that!

We figured out they would get enough clothes - which they did; we always ask for clothes when we get asked about presents becasue we prefer to pick out the toys ourselves.

I love PP's idea of a zoo membership. We have a zoo with a public footpath going through close to our house and we go there nearly every weekend, but their attention span is too short to buy full price admission, so a membership would be cool.

We already have one of these and it's great! My babies love it!!

I was thinking of getting something like that as our old one that I've had for nearly 10 years is finished. I prob will concentrate on outdoor toys too! :babyflips: :babyflips:
