who has a good thermometer out there that doesn't break, is pretty accurate, etc? We've gone through 3 of them already -- they are the temporal ones and they seem to break or aren't as accurate. please send me your suggestions.

    thanks!

I have a cheap ear one from Target, it was $20 and works fine.

I buy boxes of heart shaped Vicks thermometer stick on patches and I make the sick kid wear one under their arm the entire sickness. That way I can get an idea of what their temp is any time including middle of the night without waking them and if I need to I have just a plain jane digital thermometer that I use. I have had ear thermometers and I have a temporal one that I hate and never use.

we have the temporal one, and it seems that we always have to swipe several times... anyway, the temp is a bit higher when measured there, I think the instructions mention that... it is a bit tempermental, but since ours still works we haven't found a different type, I think the one we got was $40+ ugh! I haven't heard of the stick on patches, that sounds interesting!

I love my temporal one, I can't remember what kind it is though. Out of habit I always swipe 3 times and take an average of the 3 temps. Most of the time it's within .3 degree's each swipe. I hate the under tongue/under arm ones, because it's a huge pain to get the kids to hold still long enough. And our ear one was too big for my dd, she has tiny ears.

I just got one recently that you place right at the temple to take. You don't move it around to the forhead like some of the other ones. It works very well and it's super easy. I get a temp in less than 10 seconds from the time I turn it on. It has been accurate so far.

We have a temporal one, Exegen, and it's worked well for us. Our pediatrician uses the same kind of thermometer and they take the temp behind the ear.

I think that is the one I have. I always do a swipe of the forehead then i take it behind the ear. Usually they are almost the same. If they are a degree different I take it again in both spots. I usually find when it is wrong it is because I screwed it up.
The only issue I had with it was I had been keeping it in my laundry room and I have the basebaord closed in there. Dani was complaining one morning and I could not use the temporal thermometer since it was too cold. Now I just have to remember where I moved the thermometer.
