But now that you're outnumbered, you've lost the battle? I, never in a million years, would have ever let my oldest climb onto our coffee table. Ever! I am currently watching the lost battle of my two monkeys climbing onto the coffee table and then nose diving onto the couch :headbang: . We fought the good battle for two weeks - re-direct, distract, "feet go on the floor," "timeouts." But alas, they won this battle. My only hope is that letting them do it will make it boring, and they'll find other things to do soon. *sigh*

Ha! I don't have any other children, but I had a ton of "rules" before I had kids; things that I would "never" do with my kids! Half of those went right out the window as soon as I had actual, live children in my house! Having 2 just makes it that much harder; they will always outnumber you. :)

Eat as much sugar as they do. I swear every time I turn around, the oldest has candy or a baked good. I realize it is valentine's week and just might be more prevalent right now but it is driving me up a wall.

Great topic! There are so many things that the twins do that I never let Drew do!! Off the top of my head:

    1) Go into their rooms by themselves (I was always right with Drew)
    2) Play in the kitchen drawers (I know it sounds awful - they only go in the "safe" drawers - others are locked)
    3) Hot dogs way too often (and low-protein meals way too often!)
    4) Jump on beds that are low to the floor
    5) Play in my bedroom - don't know what the draw is - so much they can't touch!
    6) Drink out of my cup when they have their own

So many more - these are just the ones I thought of from this weeked.

Oh my - gotta be the junk food eating. My son (the oldest) snacks all day long... We've even tried hiding the stuff we buy for his snack time at school, but that little stinker always finds the stash eventually. And sometimes I'm just so tired, I just let him eat junk knowing it means he won't eat dinner. (At least I try to get him gummy vitamins every day!)

Forbes' 'comfort toy' is an electric tooth brush. Need I say more?

We JUST got rid of my 3.5 year old's soother. I meant to do it when he turned 2 but the girls were coming soon after and I figured I was going to need him to have it as much as he was was going to need it. Then I just didn't want to deal with the drama of taking it away. Finally this past weekend DH got him to give them up...4 sleepless nights and napless days later I think he's finally figured out how to sleep without it.

The other thing is TV. I was rarely allowed any television as a child and planned to do the same with my kids. That went out the window when the girls were born.

Oh the TV and snacking! I'm right there with my oldest! He started half day kindergarten 9 days after the boys were born; so needless to say he got lots of TV in the afternoon while I was dealing with one colicky baby and one reflux baby throwing up everywhere. We were finally able to back off the TV some, and full day 1st grade saved us, but there was lots of TV watching going on last year!

So glad to hear I'm not the only one who has thrown many of my "rules" out the window to save my sanity. We finally moved the coffee table out of the living room the other day. I really didn't want to give in and remove one more piece of furniture, but they were getting a little too wild by flinging themselves over the couch arm. It was rather hysterical watching them walk around the next morning looking for the table. I'm pretty sure they thought they were in the wrong room for a moment  .

Someday I'll have a fully furnished house again. And maybe even things on the table??

OMG, I found my OCD twin. I spent 3 weekends resorting toys because I got very upset that the plastic barn animals were not with the little people and the rubber barn animals were not with the M&D farm set. With just my singleton, everything stayed sorted and in it's bin. I find toys behind the toilet that should have been downstairs in the basement. I don't get how two toddlers are able to spread so much junk throughout a house.

 I never thought i was OCD about anything until I came to the conclusion that I could lose sleep over how disorganized the kids toys are! My older son's lego sets are all in ziploc bags so he can find each set easily, I even sorted the lego's into sizes in containers. I have more issues than I knew!

Everything, it seems! I let me daughter destroy a box of kleenex because it kept her happy for 20 minutes one time.

I don't have an older one but I remember letting the twins shred a magazine all over the floor so I could have a few minutes of peace!

I was like that w the older 2 as well... everything had it's spot. To the point when we'd have friends over they knew not to help me clean up LOL My daycare kids knew exactly where everything went. Now if it's off the floor, I'm happy!

Our end tables and chairs are on top of our kitchen table so the boys can't climb on them, the girls friends ask me why we keep our chairs on top of the table... my reply is "doesn't everyone?" lmao
