    Sometimes people just baffle me.

I was out with my girls and this dad (he was with his two kids), made a bizarre comment right in front of my kids! He turns to me and says "Both your girls are beautiful, but she [pointing to one of my kids] is just stunning!" REALLY?! You couldn't just leave it at "they are beautiful" or better yet, not commented at all? Don't single one out because they can BOTH hear you. I was so stunned I just muttered "Thank you."

So what wacko comments have you gotten lately? Oh and my completely unbiased opinion is BOTH of my girls are stunning :p

I still get comments that my two are identical. Last Friday in fact. Ummmmm, no, boy/girl, one has a bob, the other has really short shaved hair, one has a huge unibrow, the other has no eyebrows. . .okay yeah, they're both blonde with blue eyes but do you understand what identical means?

And both M&A are stunning. And he should have been stunned with a cattle prod.

You'd think boy/girl would be enough proof that they AREN'T identical  People are weird.

I've had that happen here too. <_< And the worst part?! It came from a family member. I was stunned. I found it somewhat amusing too though b/c my girls are technically identical.

And I concur, BOTH your girls are stunning!

Wow! How awful. I mean the comment was nice, but still to single one out...just awful. By the way, they ARE both stunning!!!

There is 4 years in between my oldest son and my youngest son. When my youngest was a NEWBORN and my oldest was 4 I was out and about I had both of them in a side by side double stroller ds 1 was sitting and newborn ds was laying. One lady seriously thought they were twins. Uh yeah, born 4 years apart.

I got the same comment from my mom but at least not in front of them...

Both of your girls are stunning Leighann and I agree with Bex, that man should have been poked with a cattle prod.

I also get the are they identical even though mine are boy and girl. I have also gotten people asking me if I have twin boys despite the fact that some days DD goes out looking like a pink, frilly cupcake.
And people have told me that DS's long eyelashes are totally wasted on a boy. Sigh...

I have received soooooo many "Poor you, all boys!" comments, I'd be a millionaire if they gave me a dollar for every time I've received a negative comment towards the fact that I have 3 boys. And they say them IN FRONT OF MY BOYS! Grrrr. It makes me so angry. I LOVE having all boys! Wouldn't change it for the world and I resent that others have sympathy for me and could give my boys the idea that I am upset that they aren't girls. :(

I've gotten the "Are they identical?" question from a NURSE at my OB-GYN'S OFFICE. :faint:

(Oh, and in addition to having different private parts, Andrew and Ivy barely look like siblings.)

I love it when people ask me if they are identical (they look very different), and after I tell them "no", they will confirm for me by pointing out all their differences. Hey thanks, cause I was just guessing...duh!

Oh I've had that comment said about my two in front of them. <_< By both family and strangers and it is the RUDEST thing ever. People are nuts, I swear!

Both of your girls are equally gorgeous...

Sadly, yes, I've gotten the "they must be identical" comment, from all kinds of people, including nurses at my dr office. I've even had people argue with me that they are identical. Blond hair, blue eyes, and there the identical-ness ends

Just the other day I was told I had 3 beautiful little girls. I guess that means it's time to cut my ds's curly little hair :( It's really unfair, both my boys have curls and both my girls have stick straight hair.

LOL...that's actually a running joke in my family...a few years ago my grandma said to my sister "your sister is so stunning...oh, no offence to you" (BTW we look alike and we are not stunning :). So when I call my sister I say "hi, it's the stunning one!"
My least favorite is "two girls huh? are you going to try for a boy?" And this comes from family who KNOW the years of fertility issues and cost $$$ we endured for YEARS! Plus, do my girls not count? So annoying...

It blows my mind what comes out of people at times. Here is a conversation I had not too long ago:

to me: "How far apart in age?"
Me: "Exact same age. They're twins."
to me: "She (or he doesn't matter) looks bigger and older than the other. Are you sure?"

YES lady/man, whatever you are, I'm sure that I carried two babies in my stomach for all those months and I'm sure I had a c-section and I'm sure as sure that I've been raising them ever since. Are you sure you have a brain? I didn't say that!

    P.S. Your girlS are STUNNING!

My FIL told us to be glad ours aren't "real" twins !!! What?? Dh said they are as real as twins can be. FIL who did not mean to be offensive meant identical because he was afraid that he could not tell them apart.

Thank you all for sharing in the insanity! I'm laughing here in my office reading these. I think people seriously do not think before they open their mouths sometimes. I love people who argue with the mom over whether they are truly twins, and whether the b/g twins are really identical. All I hope is that after these discussions people go home and shake their heads and think "man I really said something stupid to that woman. whoops!"

Oh and thanks for all the compliments for my little ladies  I wasn't fishing I swear

Ah yeah, the things people say ...

When my boys were younger, people would often say, "Are you sure they're not identical?" And "I don't know how you tell them apart!" Even though Will's always had blond hair and Alex has always had brown hair, and they just have completely different faces--Will always had more the "little man" face while Alex always had the "Gerber baby" thing going on, with the big round eyes and the little button nose.

And now people sometimes say, "Are you sure they're twins? They don't look anything alike." :p

Your girls are both GORGEOUS!!
I've had similar comments too. I just smile politely and think "jacka$$". <_< I usually hear the "she's definitely cute, but SHE (pointing to the other one), well, there's just something about her..." (implying she is much cuter). Makes my heart ache for the one they don't think has "something about her". :(

I've had similar comments about how they aren't "real" twins because we've done IVF and they are fraternal. People obviously don't think people before they comment.

see I give it straight back...when they were younger people would say oh are they identical (never mind that one's blond and one's brunette) and I'd fire back "not from the waist down" or "not when you open their diaper" - I'd say it in a funny "hey we're talking about private parts" kinda way...and then they'd backtrack and be like "oh duh yea boy/girl guess they can't be identical"

when they were born I was given coordinating outfits from Little Me - both white shirts and seersucker gingham shorts - Ian's had blue trim, a bear and said BOY in blue on the shirt and were blue and white gingham, and Abby's had pink trim, said GIRL in pink and had a pink bear complete with tutu - pink checked gingham shorts and someone walked up to us and gushed "oh how beautiful - two BOYS"...in my snarky sleep deprived fog I answered "not unless I'm dressing one in drag!" and walked off!

Oh, yes all the "Are you sure they're not identical? Are you sure?" comments are so fun.

Once when the whole family was out a stranger started commenting. Now, I have a 15 year old stepson who's taller than my husband. My husband is 8 years older than me, but I look young for my age. Someone mistook me for his daughter once. That was a yeesh moment. Anyway, she was commenting on how cute the girls were and then she looked at my stepson and said, "And you must be dad!" and looked at my husband and said, "You must be grandpa." I calmly explained to the woman that "grandpa" is dad and my stepson was my stepson.

My stepson was totally creeped out. It was sort of funny, though, and my stepson and I always get a good laugh out of it.

I get this all of the time too and my twins are b/g.....it's been happening since they were just babies and still happens.
I was just talking about this to another twin mom the other day.
This video made us all feel better and have a great laugh.
Watch it, it's hysterical, I watch it every-time I meet someone like all of those who commented above...
    hilarious twin mom video
if you've never seen one of these mompedia videos before watch it twice because it's computerized, sometimes you get the humor better the second time...
