My guys are 6months old...and starting to really move around their cribs. I was told not to use bumpers. However, I am finding them napping with limbs dangling outside of the crib. I would feel more comfortable with bumpers.

Are you guys using them? If so, do you know where I can buy them separate from the 'bed set'... I originally bought the breathe-able bumpers, but then returned them. Should I just buy those again?

The breatheable bumpers worked really well for us. I'd be nervous about using the pretty ones that come with the bedding sets (which we bought two of and have never used). My guys moved around a lot though and we often had to rescue them with limbs stuck out of the cribs. The breatheable bumpers put a stop to that and were also good soother catchers.

We used those thick ones around 7 months. My dd is an active sleeper. She hit her head everywhere. And they stick their legs out lol. But we stopped using them around 8 months.mainly because they started pulling up and they like to look at each other and talk lol.I really don't want them use those to climb lol. I would say you don't have to use them. They don't last that long anyway.they will learn how to recuse themselves inventually anyway.

I have never heard of a breathable bumper. However we used bumpers for all of our other 6 kids and never had a problem or was nervous about it. I guess if they are moving around then they are safe with them.. kinda like tummy sleeping once they can roll and get themselves into that position they are able to get out of it. I dunno.. just my opinion

I like the breathable ones. Not as cute but work well.

I've used the ones that came with the sets for all 7 of my kids. I've never had a problem with them. I've left them in until some of my kids were out of the crib. They never used them to climb out, if they did step on them they just squished down.

You can get just the bumper at Target or Walmart.

My girls will be 6 months in a week.....they still share a crib and I am using the soft padded bumper that came with the bedding set. Seems to work wonderfully! But I must say, they are definitely outgrowing the crib-haha

We are still using the "cute" one that came with the bedding and Hannah rolls and crawls all over her crib. I will use them until she starts pulling on them and using them as leverage....same as we did for the boys:)

I had our bumpers and bedskirts made to go with quilts that my SIL made for the girls and I've used them from the start.

Both the breathable and the "pretty" ones are available at BRU.

All of my kids used the cute ones that came with their sets. LOL! The boys were over two before I took theirs out! They never tried to climb out of their cribs-ever-so that wasn't an issue. And Annabella's i just took out because she got sick in bed the other night. I need to put it back in, but I do have to say, I do like changing sheets without the bumper in there! Oh, and she's 19 months. And she too never tried to climb out, etc.

we used our bumpers till the kids were 3 - the bumper never was a ladder for them - it just squooshed up when they'd step on it...

My twins are almost 9 months old. We took ours off about 3 weeks ago because they were starting to push them down or up and getting underneath them so they could see out of their cribs. The first week was hard because Ella decided it was SUPER COOL to throw her paci out, then scream and watch our faces get redder each time we came back in to give it to her. Little comedian, she is. :D And Ben is still getting his legs stuck, but now he's gone about 2 nights without getting caught so I'm hoping he's learned.

They're getting used to not having them now.

We never used bumpers. I put them on initially when I was setting the nursery up because we had ones that matched the other stuff, and once I realized what a pain it was to change the sheets with them in there, I took them back out again. They did get their legs and arms stuck a few times when they first started moving around, but that stopped after a couple of weeks and now they never get stuck.

I'm getting ready to buy the breathable ones because of stuck limbs and lost pacis. I used to have one with DD2 and loved it. I was stupid and sold it after she was done with it not knowing a month later I would end up preggers with twins. lol Anyway, I don't feel comfortable with the pretty thick ones once the babies are moving around the crib. I had the pretty one on the crib with my DD2 and came in to find her head stuck under it. Thank God her head was turned out otherwise she could have suffocated (sp). When I had the breathable bumber I weaved it in and out of the bars on the crib to get a tighter fit so they couldn't pull it and get under it.

Oh and if you weave it in the crib rails you shouldn't have to remove it when you change the sheets.
