American Idol Season 10 (2011)

The Edge and my BIL are twin sons of different mothers. They look identical. And I have the same mixed feelings about U2, Chrissy.

 

Can I see a picture and then meet him for just 1 night. :girl_devil: Do you have any relatives that look like Kiefer?

 

Ha - you wish! I did forget to mention one caveat about my BIL - he is so the opposite of hot. :lol: Oddly, we all agree he looks like The Edge, but we also all agree he did not get the "hotness" gene. :lol:

 

I think I would have a hard time voting after tonight's show. She may get it on the emotional factor in her last song.

 

Yeah I thought Scotty would win easily but now I'm not so sure. Scotty's first song was superior I thought (and Lauren's song wasn't the best as her voice sounded strained).

But in round 2, George Strait's song selection for Scotty was rather weak and I liked the song that Carrie Underwood chose for Lauren.

And then in round 3, while both songs were better than the typical singles you see from Idol winners, Scotty under-sung that song I believe. It's a song about being Big and he sung it small. That just didn't work for me. Maybe it would sound better in the studio. Lauren's song obviously had the emotional edge, and she did a good job of keeping it together (unlike say James did earlier in the season when he broke down on that one song).

Even though Lauren might have won the night, I still think Scotty will win the competition. But maybe she pulls off the upset.

 

Close is right. But what a boring finale. I am not voting because I really just don't care. I thought Scotty was going to win but I do think Lauren gave him a run for his money. That last song was killer. Every mama in the nation was teary after that one. :lol: Just never been much of a Lauren fan. And Scotty has a huge fan base. I do think it is a toss up.

 

I am sort of looking forward to the finale tomorrow night though. I saw a clip of Steven practicing Dream On and have heard rumors of a James/Judas Priest pairing as well as a Haley/Stevie Nicks pairing. Could be fun!

 

Scotty's single was ridiculously bad.

I just don't care. It was country Idol.

 

Another season that had promise at the beginning ended with a fizzle. We've been posting about Idol for years here at TS and I don't know if we've had any threads/seasons on the show start off with the potential that this season had at one point but lost on a week-by-week basis. Not sure who will win tonight and not sure if I care either. I'll guess it will be a country singing teenager who is sweet and good-natured.

 

I really hated tonight. I do not care who wins but I too will watch tomorrow.

 

Just saw this story that Laurens voice was so bad that they put Hailey in to get ready as well as had her practice. Here are the songs she was supposed to sing -- "House of the Rising Sun," "I Who Have Nothing" and "Bennie and the Jets."

 

That wouldn't make sense. Haley wouldn't be singing three repeats instead of the repeat, song picked by someone else, single format.

 

That's what I was thinking too. Hmmm.

 

Just repeating what I read on TMZ. The only thing I can think is she did not have time to learn the new song as well as a song picked by her idol. Either way it didn't happen.

In my head I am having a Paul/James Finale and it was fantastic.

 

Funny! Last night one of my friends and I talked about how exciting a James/Haley finale would have been compared to the dullsville Lauren/Scotty.

 

I am excited for tonight, but to see what stars are performing. I think that will be more entertaining than the two finalists. I am a big Scotty fan and thought last night was so boring.

 

Tonight's show should be much better than last night. Lots of rumors are out there. Lauren will perform with Carrie Underwood, Scotty with Tim McGraw. James and Judas Priest are pretty much a lock. Casey and Jack Black are happening. Haley is going to do a duet they say with Tony Bennett. Pia supposedly will get a duet. The top 13 girls will perform with Beonyce? And then there will definitely be some heavyweights performing on their own (U2, Steven Tyler, Lady Gaga, and others).

 

James is amazing!! Stefano's jeans at the beginning were way too tight. I saw more of Stefano than I would like to.

 

One of the most boring finales ever!!! I would have loved to see Paul sing a bit more. I personally think the guys do not harmonize very well together.

I am happy w the winner.

 

I thought it was a good finale although some of the icons they brought out were so ancient (Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, and Judas Priest are way too old to be heavy metal rockers). I'm not sure what performance I enjoyed the most, but possibly Scotty and Tim McGraw singing Live Like You Were Dying??

My big, big question though is who was in the Spider Man costume when he dropped in front of Jennifer Lopez. I think it was Ryan Seacrest, but my wife and kids think it was Marc Anthony? I need to find out the answer.

 

I didn't see everything, but thought Steven Tyler with Dream On was a highlight and I also liked Lady Gaga's new single (she is such a solid entertainer). A couple of the comedy bits were funny - especially since Casey had a good comedic touch (he needs to be cast on a sit-com or do something on SNL next year). I wonder if the Spiderman song will help that show since it's been cursed since its development. (although I thought the guy who was singing with Bono and The Edge wasn't all that strong of a singer)

 

That Beyonce song was horrible!!

 

It wasn't horrible and had some highlights.

I loved James and Judas Priest. He was in awe singing in Rob Halford's presence!

I thought Jacob with Kirk Franklin and Gladys Knight suited him to a "t!"

Casey Abrams and Jack Black doing Fat Bottom Girls was cute - Lou came to find me (I was folding laundry) because that is his song for me!

Steven's clip was a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e! :wub:

I really enjoyed Haley/Tony Bennett.

TLC was sad w/o Left Eye.

Tim McGraw! I am so NOT a country fan but damn he looked hot!! Wow!

Loved Marc Anthony and J Lo. Sheila E - fantastic percussionist!

The Tom Jones thing was good but Tom still is hot at almost 71. Hope my mom was watching!

Lady Gaga fascinates me and loved that Clarence Clemmons was playing sax. My gf and I have seen Springsteen a few times together and she missed him. I was like, how do you miss a big tall black man playing the sax? :rofl:

Lauren and Carried Underwood was good. That Carrie is a knock out!

Beyoncé twice? Really? She was just begging at the end.

Bono and The Edge and Spidey - just weird.

STEVEN stole the show but we got the freakin' short version!! Argh! I swear I was hyperventilating by the time he took the stage! :wub: So damn sexy! Dream on, baby! Now who wants to send me to South America for the summer tour so I'll shut up about Steven! :lol:

 

I don't think you have to like country to like Tim. Heck, I don't think you need to like music to like him!! He IS hot!!! :wub:

 

My girls didn't know who Tim McGraw was but they liked that song. I told them he was the dad in Blind Side, and they said oh, we didn't know he sings...

I guess I was the only one who liked the U2 song. The guy on Broadway who sang that song with U2 and the Edge, looked like the villain in the Spider Man movies (James Franco), and he also sounded like Bono. A younger version of both.

So what do we think folks, do Scotty and Lauren have a little budding romance? They seemed very happy for each other afterwards.

A few past Idols got a little airtime but I think they tried their best to forget that Lee DeWyze ever existed. He was there looking uncomfortable in the background, but they never mentioned him.

 

Is there a cash prize for winning Idol? They'll probably both get recording contracts so what advantage does it have to actually win? I'd never heard of Lee Dewyze before he performed this season on Idol, so obviously winning is not a guarantee of success.

If there is a little romance going on b/w Lauren and Scotty that's pretty cute. :wub:

I am so annoyed with the show though. How did Steven Tyler, a living rock LEGEND, end up with only 2 minutes and a very abbreviated version of Dream On when Beyoncé (performing twice no less!) got 4 1/2 minutes to basically beg Jay-Z to make love to her? :bad:

 

I think JLos performance was SEXY. You could tell by the way they were looking at each other that it was on after the show.

I am wondering if they ran out of time for Steven.

Loved the short version, but it would have been nice to hear more since we waited all season.

 

I'm not sure. He did rehearse a short version but maybe he prepped two versions in case they ran long. Either way, Beyoncé got way too much time in comparison.

 

I agree Beyonce got way too much time compared to Steven!

I loved the Casey/Jack Black surprise!!! :wub: That was awesome and Jack can actually carry a tune!!! TOO FUNNY!!! Made me laugh and smile!!!

I loved Carey and Lauren, and I think Lauren rose to the occasion!!

I agree with Craig (or Mark?) about the old timers! But the boys doing the Tony Bennet songs (who appeared to be African American....) were KILLING me! I was totally cracking up! So, they get points for that!!!

I'm REALLY happy for Scotty and new that would be the end conclusion pretty early on (or so it felt!) but REALLY would have been WAY more interesting with James and Casey or Haley or even Paul!!! :wub:

 

I was just watching for Haley at this point. It's over and that's the most to be said. Time for So You Think You Can Dance!!!
