I loved James and I thought everyone else was kind of boring. My bottom three with be Stefano, Jacob and Scotty. I love Scotty and think he will stay, but the song choice was horrible. I am hoping Jacob or Stefano go home.

I found it very validating that they all made fun of the way Scotty holds his mic. Hilarious! And I loved Casey mugging it up in his clips too. I didn't like Stefano making it clear that he didn't like Haley. I am not sure why the editors showed that.

James was great, I loved Haley's take on Adele and wondered why she doesn't get more love from the judges, especially when they always have good things to say about Stefano. I like Haley more each week; she has such a unique voice. I liked Casey, but he looked a bit awkward on stage.

Lauren sings well but I think she lost all of her confidence the first time the judges criticized her and she's never recovered. She was pretty good in her audition, but now she's taken this boring new country route that is a total waste of her talent.

I'd be happy if Jacob, Scotty or Stefano went home.

What did he say about her? I fast forward through all that stuff.

It was something like "What can I say about Haley without sounding mean" (I can't remember the exact wording).. then cricket silence. And then an awkward shot of her saying "what did he say about me?" with a dirty look in her face.. then back to him, saying the same thing again. It was very weird.

I agree with all of you that James was the best one last night. My top 3 now are James, Casey and Haley. I think Haley gets better every week and I just love her voice.

My bottom 3 are Jacob, Stefano and Lauren.

Lesley Anne, all the performances can be found on youtube.

I agree with your top three. Haley replaced Paul (sniff, sniff) for me. I also agree with your bottom three. I'm afraid Stefano could stick around though.

He said they have a love-hate relationship and he wanted to keep it at that. I don't know though - it might have been an inside joke because I've seen rumors that they're an item. Then again, I've also seen rumors that Haley and Casey are an item, and I've seen rumors that Stefano and Pia were an item. LOL - I've seen way too many rumors and there obviously are way too many items.

I don't think they dislike each other - I think it was done in jest.

I loved how they teased Stefano about being a flirt. "He'd flirt with a piece of paper if it talked to him."

Um if they are hoping these group performances are going to get people to want to see them on tour... OMG they are horrible. Usually there are some good ones but tonight I could not even listen.

I think there are at least 4 ppl that need to go and I hope it is not my favs. Again I did not see the theme for next week but am looking forward to it.

Oh and I think Jacob needs to lighten up a bit.

Theme for next week is songs of Carole King. Could be some good choices there - "It's Too Late; I Feel the Earth Move", "So Far Away", "Jazzman", "Nightingale", "Where You Lead", "You've Got a Friend", "A Natural Woman". Not sure how deep her musical library is, but it does include some huge hits that can be covered in a lot of different ways.

I like Carole King but that's a tough one for Scotty and James I'd say. Haley can do Jazzman and Casey I Feel The Earth Move. Those two are slam dunk choices. Maybe Lauren goes to Carole's earliest hit and does Will You Love Me Tomorrow (which she co-wrote at 18). Jacob might be okay with You've Got A Friend.

I'm not going to lose any sleep about Stefano finally being booted. Something tells me we're looking at an all-country final of Scotty and Lauren, although I'd prefer to say James in there over Lauren myself.

If Slash can collaborate with Carole King, I think there must be potential in one of her songs for James.

OK, aside from it being time Stefano went home, I always get a little teary for them at this point. He seems sweet and I wish him well.

More importantly, how can I get one of my boys on this show so I can meet Steven Tyler?

Not sure if anyone downloaded Uprising that James sang this week. It is pretty flippin amazing.

Yes, it is amazing. He so deserves to win this whole thing!

I went on a bit of a d/l spree on iTunes after a few glasses of vino last night. Haley's version of Rolling in the Deep is good too. (Note to self: do not drink and d/l - spent too much dinero!!)

Doing some research why we're waiting for kids to fall asleep so we can set out easter eggs. Anyway, here are the Carole King songs I'd like to see the Idol singers try Wednesday.

Casey - Been to Canaan (not one of her all-time best known songs but a great song that I bet he could do some neat things with)
Haley - Jazzman (technically she's not a jazzman, but the judges want to see her jazzy side so this might be a good choice for her. And it's another great song that I'd love to hear an Idol singer try since I"m not sure I've ever heard it on the show)
Jacob - It's Too Late (you know he'll do a slower song and I'm hoping he does this one or You're So Far Away but doesn't do You've Got a Friend)
Scotty - Up on the Roof (a little tougher to find one for him to put his twist on, but this would be a great choice for him)
James - Don't Bring Me Down (one of her rock songs that she wrote for the Animals. It might work for him)
Lauren - Where You Lead, I Will Follow (not sure if it's the best choice for her, but it would show the world how many classic songs King has actually written)

other songs folks could try would be I Feel the Earth Move (maybe Haley or Casey?), Pleasant Valley Sunday (the Monkees), You're So Vain (but I can't see anyone trying that one), Anticipation (ditto), or The Locomotion (she must have written that when she was still a teenager). I do not want to hear (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman as that has been done ad nauseum on Idol and Lauren needs to be more creative (and I don't see Haley doing it).

Hopefully it will introduce some great music to a new generation of fans.

Nope, you aren't the only one!! I might know a song and just not know it was her? :pardon:

I always confuse Carole King with Carly Simon. They're basically from the same era and have similar voices. In fact, Craig confused the two as both You're So Vain and Anticipation (used in the ketchup commercials) are by Carly Simon, not Carole King. Some of you might know Where You Lead, I Will Follow from the Gilmore Girls TV show as that's the song they use in the opening credits.

It might be a bit of a cheat, but James Taylor and Carole King play a lot of concerts together. And they've performed Carolina in my Mind together so even though it's a James Taylor song, maybe Scotty can get away with playing that song. It would be perfect for him. The other song that Lauren could try is One Fine Day which was a bigger hit for the Chiffons but it's a Carole King song. There was a movie with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer with that name where they play the song over the closing credits.

I always confuse Carole King and Carly Simon songs. They are so similar in style. Then add the James Taylor factor (going to see him next month!) and it gets really confusing what with James and Carly having been married and him performing live with Carole. I think it's funny that Craig confused several of her songs as well.

I think James ought to have Slash as guest guitarist and do I Feel the Earth Move. I think Casey should do Smackwater Jack.

Carole King is an amazing songwriter and I think you probably know her songs even if you don't know her. Me? I'm old enough to remember when her album, Tapestry, went to #1.

I agree except about Lauren. I thought she did very well, and I'm not usually a fan of hers. I know this is late as Stefano has already been booted, however, I was not surprised he was booted. He did not do that great with the song. He did ok, just not great. It will be a while before Scotty gets in one of those bottom three chairs, but I thought that song he chose was waaaay too safe! Cute even! Not a fan. I also really didn't like Jacob's song from Luther. I know it was about his father and he was emotional about it. Sweet, but I don't think he did well. I really am getting tired of his voice!! I have gotten to be more and more of a Haley fan. I thought she did very well with that song from Adele! James did awesome! I don't like Muse much, but he did very well with a good song choice. Casey did wonderfully as it was kind of an unusual song choice for me, but he did great with it!

I'm looking forward to Carole King night! I grew up listening to her. This is going to be a challenge for some of the contestants. Casey will pull it off. Haley will do fine I'm sure. James I'm sure he'll find a way but it will be a challenge. He will likely just sing a softer song. He's got the voice to pull it off. Scotty... I really don't want to hear a country version of Carole King. I just don't. I'm sure Lauren will find a song for herself. She won't do Natural Woman though. She's already done it! Haley would do great with that song, but it would likely be in her best interest to find a different song. I doubt she'd choose that one anyhow. I don't want to hear Jacob again. Yes, I said that correctly. Nice guy and all, but something about his voice annoys me.

Rumors. Casey dating Haley. I haven't seen much of a hint of that on stage, but hey they could just be good at hiding it. That would be cute if they were dating. They look cute together. Casey did steal a peck on J. Lo's cheek, but then again, who wouldn't? Here's some more on the rumors.... http://www.buddytv.com/articles/american-idol/idol-notes-pia-toscano-doing-j-39936.aspx

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the half-dozen remaining contestants will sing duets this week. Since it's a 90-minute show and there are just six singers left, maybe they're implying each person sings by him or herself and then there are three more duets so we hear each person sing two songs? Not sure exactly what they are implying but it does sound duets are going to be in the mix somehow.

I thought Scotty and James were by far the best tonight and while James was solid as usual, I don't think it was quite as impactful as some of his other performances so for that reason I'd put Scotty as the evening's winner since I think it was his best performance of the year. I'd put Lauren a distant third and was pretty disappointed with Casey, Haley and Jacob. I'm thinking it's time for either Haley or Jacob to depart.

Jacob was awful. I thought James, Haley, and Scotty were the best, although James should have done more scaled back. Lauren had a good night for her. Casey didn't even sing much. Thank God he had that duet with Haley. Jacob should go definitely. Having the first position isn't a help.

My love for Casey is dwindling. I like him but all of his songs are starting to sound the same. James was great but I wish he would have done the whole song stripped down. Haley was good. Lauren I cannot stand so I fast forwarded through her. Jacob was Horrid tonight. Scotty was fantastic.

I think they will do a bottom 2 with that being Jacob and Casey or Lauren.

I really hope the final comes down to Rock vs. Country.

    This show sucked tonight. Blech.

However, James was the one bright spot. He so deserves to win this. Scotty was pretty good too. Everyone else was just boring or awful.

Bottom three: Jacob, Lauren, Casey (over the angry growling - sing, dude!). Haley wasn't great either but I like her vocal quality so will spare her but realistically think she could seriously be in danger.

I really hope it's Jacob going home.

I hate the way Casey walks around the stage and growls. I think he just gets so into his music he just kinda does it.

I dolike his vibe and his style but sometimes he gets so into the growling and prowling he forgets to sing. Still not many 19 year olds into this genre and style.

Scotty didn't just win tonight, he may have won the whole competition tonight. James was good on his solo song but his duet was goofy and he was acting kind of like a diva on it. I think his growing confidence is going to rub some people the wrong way. I hope Haley stays another week - she keeps growing on me. She just picks bad songs sometimes (why she chose Beautiful instead of Jazzman I have no idea).

James and Scotty were my favorites, with Lauren running third. I didn't like Jacob or Haley at all. I also didn't think the duets were that great. I hope that Jacob goes home, but fear it could be Haley.

I don't think Scotty will win. He had a good week, but he is likely to follow it up with another bad song choice with safe vocals and ridiculous facial expressions. He'll have a career, but I don't think he will win Idol.
