I would like for the bottom three to be Stefano, Lauren, and Jacob with Stefano leaving. I am afraid Paul (because so many don't seem to get him) or Haley (since she runs hot and cold) will be in that group instead. At this point, someone good is leaving no matter who it is. *sniff* They all bring something so different to the mix!

I am hoping the bottom 3 are Stefano, Jacob and Paul and that either Stefano or Jacob goes home. Those are my 2 least favorite. I wish I could have caught it last night and voted. I thought Casey did awesome! I still haven't had a chance to watch the whole show yet.

Well my DVR messed up something horrible so I only saw Paul, Scotty and Stefano sing. I am still calling Scotty the winner for the year however because his voice is amazing.

Sorry I love Paul. I voted a ton last for him, great performer. Dial Idol has Casey, Haley and Paul with the lowest number of votes. Not sure how accurate that is since they had Pia in the top 3 last week.

No need to apologize, Chrissy. I love Paul too, love his whole vibe. He just makes me smile.

Casey was spectacular. I sincerely hope he does not go home. That performance was something very special. I probably should have voted more for him and Paul (voted once for each, big whoop) but my fingers would not stop dialing for James who blew it OUT of the ballpark!

I probably voted for Casey 4 times and Paul 30. James 5.

I am hoping for bottom three... Stefano, Jacob & Haley. I don't mind Haley but I like all the others more, except maybe Scotty, I am just not sure if I like him or not. I do love Paul & hope he gets to stick around. Casey & James are my two favorites.

Sounds like most of us predicted the bottom three or at least 2/3 of the bottom three, and I can't complain about the results - the person who got sent home was no surprise to me and I felt deserved to be sent home at this point in the show. Group performances were definitely highlighted by Casey and Haley together - I agree that what we saw tonight with Haley is what she should have done last night...

I can complain about the one that got the boot. Seriously why STEFANO are you still here.

Yeah I wanted a guy to go home but it would have been fine with me if it was either Stefano or Paul. I liked all the group numbers tonight. I love American Honey by Lady Antebellum (seriously why hasn't that song been as big of a hit as Need You Now??). And I thought Lauren sounded wonderful on it (Scotty good but he was overpowered a bit by Lauren I thought). I LOVED Casey and Haley's jazz duet of Moaning (don't know the song but it was awesome). And the four guys doing the Simon and Garfunkel songs of Sounds of Silence and Mrs. Robinson was good too. Although it definitely showed you that Stefano was the weak link of that group and I thought Paul's voice sounded much better on those songs than it did last night.

Also, the Kelly Clarkson duet was fine. I haven't heard it yet but I assume it will make its way over to the easy listening stations eventually. I fast forwarded through Rhianna so didn't even hear one bit of her number.

Agreed. Stefano is like Pia to me: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I tune right out when he sings. Boring.

We lost one of the interesting, unique artists but it does not really surprise me as America tends to want more mainstream whitebread in the long run. Stefano will probably win the whole damn thing yet! He belongs in some cheesy boy band.

Loved the Haley/Casey duet and the guys quartet. Both really great! Rihanna is gorgeous, such eyes, but I think her voice was not showcased by her song much at all.

Once again, I missed next week's theme. Does anyone know?

I actually LOVED Lauren last night! (mark the date on the calendar!!) I like that song for some reason. :umm:

I thought James was going to be hit hard about having such a HUGE guitar solo (albeit *amazing*) in the middle of a singing competition. Simon would have called it indulgent. He really nailed it though!!!

    Casey's cool.

Stefano is soooo 2000 and late!

    Haley was fun!

Paul was cool and fun and I like it and I get it!

I do think Scotty's was his weakest performance. But I could see him winning it all!! Regardless a career is born!

I had forgotten about James' tourette syndrome and was buggin' about his eyes and the blinking and then I was reminded today while seeing something at the gym.

I think Stefano, Haley and I hope Jacob are in the bottom.

I also agree it was odd that so many of them dissed Jimmy's suggestions. I also agree that it helped Jacob, but I can't get past his cheese! I'm loving Will.i.am on there!!

Stefano needs to hop on that Backstreet and New Kids concert

Ugh I am frustrated. I just hope that the final is at least Scotty and James with Casey taking with of their spots.

I finally watched all the performances on Youtube and James was off the hook last night!!! I also liked Casey and really liked Jacob too.

Me too! and he's so funny!! :good:

I'm glad with the choice. :good: It was going to happen at one point, I definitely don't think he was THE winner.

BTW, it probably needs to be said again. Haley and Casey teaming up for Charlie Mingus' Moanin' may have been the best performance on Idol this season and certainly was the top duet we've seen on the show. Haley's performance might have vaulted her into the Final Four (assuming she makes some good music choices and performances from here on out), but I bet it was Casey who put this together.

ETA: Thought I would add a link to this blogger who draws a comparison between the "scat" session in the middle of the song between Haley and Casey and the now-viral video of the babbling twin babies "talking" to one another in their kitchen in front of the fridge. Links to both are in the blog (the scat talks about 1:00 into the song)

This is the burning question. But he's cute and he has the boy band style so the young girls are probably voting for him.

I always get frustrated at this point in the show because the true artists sometimes get lost in the voting. I'm glad Casey has stuck around.

I am bummed that Paul is gone, I liked him...and I love his smile and style!! (Except those ridiculous suits!)
I hope after the tour we will hear more from him!!
Haley and Casey's duet was so so so AWESOME!!! and I loved the guys singing Mrs. Robinson!

I agree, why is Stephano still here...and Jacob for that matter? I am sick of them!

Is Stefano part of the "vote for the worst campaign" that always seems to happen on this show?

I wasn't a big fan of Paul until the Johnny Cash song last week. I thought that was awesome. Sad he is gone, I was looking forward to more of his style.

Next week's theme apparently is music from the 21st century. Hopefully that actually means songs released in the last 11 years and not a song that has been covered in the past decade but dates from earlier than that. You know how they like to cheat around the themes whenever possible.

Musical guests on the results show next week are Katy Perry (singing her latest single, E.T.) and David Cook (also singing his latest single which is just being released, The Last Goodbye).

So it's songs from 2000 until now? Somehow I just can't see this group doing Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Black Eyed Peas, Eminem or Rihanna, but maybe we'll be surprised. I could see Lauren doing a Taylor Swift song and I'm sure Scotty will find something recent on the country charts to sing. Stefano will probably pick something sugary like Hey Soul Sister by Train. No idea what James, Jacob, Casey and Haley can come up with but hopefully something good.

I'm bummed that Paul is gone, too! I don't think he was going to win. (I predict Scotty - no my wish, my prediction).

I'm glad we'll be more recent! Whatever will Jacob do?

I bet Casey or Haley will do Lady Gaga. A stripped down version of Bad Romance.

Maybe someone will do Daughtry's version of Poker Face?

  25. twinstuff2

With Katy Perry on the show, it would be interesting to see someone take on her Firework song (ala the a capella version that someone else linked to recently). That might be a good one for Jacob to try.

It would be fine with me if one of the boys tried a Daughtry song (or perhaps one from David Cook or Kris Allen) but I'm not sure I want them to try a version of Daughtry singing a Lady Gaga song. James might do a Nickelback song. Haley might try an Adele or Leona Lewis song. Or perhaps Don't Know Why (the Norah Jones version is from 2002).

For me tonight it was James way, way ahead of the rest of the singers. Not even close - he blew everyone away in my view. I guess the other memorable one was Casey, but more for the J-Lo kiss and Steven bleeps. I'll say it's got to be Haley, Jacob and Stefano in the bottom three with my prediction that Jacob is going home.

I got some Muse and some Maroon 5 tonight. :good: :good: I think James and Casey were the best tonight... only thing I didn't like about James' performance was when he went into high pitch... it just didn't fit into the song/tone. :pardon: I know it's his thing but it hurt my ears!

I am hoping it's Stefano that goes home tomorrow.

I have to say I actually enjoyed Stefano tonight.

My top though is James, He is flippin nuts with his vocals. I will be downloading that one. I am 50/50 on Casey's performance Devon said he hates the way he was marching around like a kid throwing a fit.

Jacob was off tonight, Scotty was doing that wierd eyebrow thing and I hate the way he holds his mic, Lauren I do not think is that great. Haley was alright.

But seriously right now it is James all the way.

It wasn't a knockout night tonight but I at least enjoyed the song choices of a few of them. It's interesting that a few of the front-runners (Scotty and Lauren basically) continue to play it very safe with their song choices and Lauren in particular seems to be so unconfident still at this stage of the competition. Meanwhile, a couple of ones who are constantly in the bottom (Haley and Stefano) honestly show more confidence with each week.

    Here's what they sung

    1. Scotty McCreery (LeAnne Rimes’ 2010 cover of John Anderson’s 1982 song “Swingin’) - okay but kind of cheated with the song choice. And I'm not sure if was a great choice but I guess I have to remember he's just 17 or so.
    2. James Durbin (Muse’s “Uprising”) - cool song and my favorite performance of the night. Muse rocked this on the Grammy's.
    3. Haley Reinhart (Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”) - good song choice and one I could have predicted. Not as good as the original obviously but it was okay.
    4. Jacob Lusk (Luther Vandross’ “Dance With My Father”) - predictable and not one of his best. He missed a couple of notes right away.
    5. Casey Abrams (Maroon 5 “Harder to Breathe”) - liked the song choice and his performance. It's interesting that a Maroon 5 (Adam Levine) song would be used with that new NBC show premiering later this month.
    6. Stefano Langone (”Closer” Ne-Yo) - didn't know the song but I thought he did okay.
    7. Lauren Alaina (”Born to Fly” Sara Evans) - the song choice was just okay and more country fluff (I guess we have the only two teenagers in this country who have zero angst in their lives). Lauren was just okay - I enjoyed the fiddle player more than her.

To me, Jacob was the worst of the night but I think either he, Stefano or Haley will go home.

James did blow the competition away. No doubt about it. No one even came within striking distance.

    1. Scotty McCreery - Swingin' (LeAnn Rimes): as Mark just pointed out, total cheat on the song choice; he sang it well but nothing spectacular; agree he needs to push the limits a bit moving forward

    2. James Durbin - Uprising (Muse): great song choice for him; it was a total performance! It was spectacular from start to finish and he is showing his artistic vision; LOVED it!!

    3. Haley Rienhart - Rolling in the Deep (Adele): I enjoyed this and thought this was a perfect song choice for her; it wasn't her best performance but it had Haley written all over it and I liked it

    4. Jacob Lusk - Dance With My Father (Luther Vandross): very emotional song choice for him; understated performance; I almost feel badly for him because the judges have told him to hold back a bit and now they tell him to let loose; overall, forgettable performance though

    5. Casey Abrams - Harder to Breathe (Maroon 5): I literally groaned out loud when I heard his song choice but he did the virtually impossible and made me like a Maroon 5 song (at least his rendition); wasn't his best but still good and second best of the night for me

    6. Stefano Langone - Closer (Ne-Yo): why is he still here? I will say this was one of his better performances but there is zero appealing about him for me; just another cute face in the crowd - he'll probably win the whole damn thing!

    7. Lauren Alaina - Born to Fly (Sara Evans): she bores me but has a good voice; I agree she needs to challenge herself more; Jennifer gave her a good pep talk

James got all my votes last night. He completely pulled away from the pack with that performance. :D

Top three for me: James, Haley, Casey
Bottom three for me: Scotty, Jacob, Lauren

I also did not like the group performance at the beginning of the show. So many great Pink songs to choose from and they chose So What? And for some reason, I just can't picture Thea challenging anyone to a fight. Paul also didn't seem like he wanted to be there at all.

  33. Chrissy Nelson

    Chrissy Nelson Well-Known Member

I too did not like the group song. I did not think they sounded good together and then I missed Paul. At least he rocked that suit again for us.

  34. Mama_Kim

    Mama_Kim Well-Known Member

Agreed. I love Pink, love her, but this is not a singer's song at all. It was horrid, just horrid. Paul was so out of his element and looked completely embarrassed. Pia does this weird posturing thing too. So odd that she is so beautiful and has such a great voice but moves so awkwardly. The whole thing was just strange.

  35. dfaut

    dfaut 30,000-Post Club

Hated the group thing! Naima was jumping around like a monkey - which has it's time and place, to be sure!

Paul sounded like he had NO voice at all left!

    James killed it again! :woo:
Casey and Haley are my next two! I liked that song on Haley and Casey's got that "I'm gonna be on the cover of magazines for my genius/crazy breakdown someday" thing going on!

During Jacob, I left the room to go find chocolate

Stefano - not my music AT ALL - didn't think it was good, but then there wasn't anything WRONG with it per se!

Lauren, poor little Lauren, they battled about whether to let her come back next year when she was older didn't they? She could be great! She's young!

Scotty, FINALLY - a weak performance - PHONED. IT. IN.

I did laugh my @$$ off at the packages in the beginning where they were all doing their impressions of each other and the mic holding on Scotty was in there! Also, Casey KILLED me showing up in all their places while they were doing him and chasing them off!! Too funny! I actually really enjoyed that!

Tonight, my bottom three are: Stefano, Jacob and Scotty (although, Haley could be in this spot) with Stefano going home. (Jacob potentially too, he's so boring to me!)
