My son has it for 3 days.I took him to ER last night when he puked 3 times but only water came out and he got stomach cramp. They gave him meds for fever and vomitting.he had plenty of pedialyte and 20oz of milk. He was doing good today a bit tired but not vomit. He slept a lot too. Tonight after finished his 5 oz breast milk bottle.he puked again. He doesn't have fever though. He got fussy. I gave him zofran (med for vomitting which er doc gave us) and tylenol. He fell asleep.it looks like he only gets it at night. Daytime he is totally fine.

So should I still feed him milk or only pedialyte? My husband thinks he should only drink pedialyte.last night the nurse told me he could have milk after noon today. And we only gave him pedialyte last night and this morning. I'm afraid he doesn't have enough nutrition and engergy to fight the sickness. Oh I stopped giving solids food already, only pedialyte and milk.

It breaks my heart seeing him like this. How long should I expect him to have this? Iam losing my mind now ahhhh.

My kids have had the same thing...only the girls have also had insane diarrhea mixed in with the vomiting (such a MESS!!!!!). The one who got hit first (Audrée) is JUST starting to eat again and have semi normal poops (it's been over a week). Even my son who usually throws up and gets better has had several vomiting episodes over several days (the last one was Sat morning, same day as his sisters BDay party...bad timing!). This bug seems to get better and then come back again so I feel you pain, it's awful!!!!

I brought Audrée to the Dr after about 5 days of random vomiting and lots of diarrhea and he said pedialyte...don't worry about milk or solids and that in 2-3 days she should be better. That's what I've been doing and it seems to have helped her get back on track. Now poor Amélie is the only one left sick and I'm pumping her full of pedialyte too. I have still been offering milk and solids but for the most part they have refused when sick (it was about a week for Audrée with hardly any milk or solid food).

The Dr told me they need to stay hydrated to fight off the bug and that the pedialyte will help most. Sometimes the food is just too hard to digest and can hinder rather than help. Audrée is eating and drinking again as of yesterday so I know in a few more days Amélie should be back on track too. Dannik seems to be recovered but all he had was vomiting. It's been a worrisome, messy week. I hope your LO's are better soon

Also, our vomiting was in the evening as well...so strange. A couple of times at night in bed and other times right after dinner with often 24 hours between episodes. I think it's a weird bug! No real fever here either which also had me perplexed.

My daughter had the vomiting at about 6 months. I was told that breastmilk was best and not to bother with the pedialite (which my kids would never drink). Breastmilk is soo gentle on the tummy.

I hope he feels better soon!!! to momma!

My ped said to never give formula/BM during the stomach flu, its guaranteed to come back up. Pedialyte and water.

In the instances with a lot of puking, we have been told to get the pedialyte down. Restoring electrolytes is important for hydration. Dehydration happens much faster in babies. We used gatorade at that age - they hated pedialyte and pedi said gatorade is a little more sugary but works the same. If you use gatorade make sure to dilute it (because of sugar but also because the body absorbs it better in a diluted state.) I think we did 1/3 gatorade and 2/3 water. Good luck - vomiting is no fun.

Thanks mamas! He's doing good today. So far he can keep it down. We still give him pedialyte.we haven't given him solids yet. So far he can keep down 21oz of milk plus pedialyte.I hope he won't puke at bedtime like last night.

My sis is still happy and super hyperactive lol. She has no sign of sickness. It has been 4 days but she is still healthy.I hope she won't get it.

    Thank you so much ladies!

I just want to echo this. You give your brand new baby breastmilk, not pedialyte. You have the *perfect* nutrition. I know you're bottlefeeding the breastmilk, you might try giving it in smaller amounts more frequently.
