Babies running out of room on u/s

Soooo I went for my biophysical profile u/s yest and babies scored 8 out of 8 (then with NST 10 out of 10) after being prodded to get them to practice their breathing (girl does it and boy is lazy!)

Anyway, she showed me the screen and babies and I asked if they have lots of room left as I didn't see lots of black space in each sac. She said no, they've basically run out of room. She said their fluid is OK so that is why they can stay in for now but that they didn't gain weight from last week (which is first time ever of no weight gain).

So for those of you who had lots of ultrasound's, when they realized babies have no room left, when did you go into labor after that, and/or end up having the babies? (either by induction, c/s, etc)

I see my OB Tues so will talk to him then I guess! I have been dilated for 4 weeks and still holding on. But 2 weeks ago they had quite a bit of black space (room), and yest I could see for myself that there's like no room for them left inside.

Wondering when they'll come now....as overcrowding is a huge reason for labor starting.

I went for an U/S at 36 weeks, where they realized that my baby B was no longer thriving, he hadnt gained almost nothing from the u/s 2 weeks prior and didnt look like he had grown in length either. My baby A was already engaged, breech, which he had been since about week 24. They scheduled my c-section for 37 weeks 1 day.

I went in at 36 weeks for my weekly NST ans u/s- they found little room but also low fluid and scheduled a c-section for the following morning. Babies were 4 lb 5 oz and 4 lb 10 oz and were home 9 days later once they figured out the whole eating thing. :)

And how accurate was the u/s for the babies weight?

That was their actual weights- the u/s had them each a bit over 5 lbs so roughly a pound off.

I had u/s's every other week from 19 weeks and at around the 32 week mark the duo had virtually no space left (but somehow still managed to beat the crap out of each other and flip flop). At my 37 week u/s (and then follow up 3 days later) they noticed that Olivia was starting to lose weight and they induced me at 38.5 weeks. I have no idea how I went that long considering that I didn't look like I was carrying more than one baby. But....they stayed in! At my last u/s, babies were measuring around the 5.5lb mark each. They were born 5.14lbs and 6.8lbs.

I don't recall how they looked - room-wise - ever being a consideration with my OB. I had weekly ultrasounds from week 28 on and always thought it looked packed in there!! I was dilated - 1-2 - from week 32 or so until I had my c-section at 38+5. My final ultrasound four days prior to delivery showed A at 6 lbs. 10 oz. and B at 6 lbs. 12 oz. Actual weights were A at 5 lbs. 0 oz. and B at 6 lbs. 11 oz. Way off on baby A (who was the taller baby by an inch, by the way). My twins are mono-di.

As fr weights, they estimated both boys to be at 5lbs. Baby A was 6lbs 9oz and baby B was 5lbs 2 oz. My boys were mono/di

Thanks ladies! Wow, so I guess them running out of room doesn't really "mean" all that much as they seem to still hold on and hang in there!!! As long as their fluid is ok!

I honestly don't think that many OBs base their decisions on when to deliver on how much visual "room" or "space" is on the u/s screen. Fluid is in pockets all over, and especially in the end they will regularly measure the largest pockets of fluid to determine an overall amniotic fluid level for each baby and if it falls within an acceptable range then there is nothing to worry about. My babies were huge, and ever at 38 weeks they were fine and still had room to grow. The uterus is a very stretchy little baby basket! It will continue to stretch to accommodate your babies (although of course it's as tight as can be in there!!!), don't worry. If your doctor is watching your fluid levels and the babies are passing all of their tests then it sounds like everything is going perfectly.

My girls were both estimated to weigh 5lb 8oz at 35 weeks. They were born at 36w 2d and both weighed 5lb 15oz. My ultrasound tech had to have been good because I think that seems right on to me! The whole pregnancy they weighed within an ounce or 2 of each other and they were born the same and STILL weigh the same to this day and they are 5 months old!

At my 33 week ultrasound I remember the technician saying they were out of room, but still a good fluid level. They still managed to change positions (from breech to vertex to breech) 3 more times and then again during labor!!! Ended up delivering B breech but all went well!
