When and how did you deliver?

I am so curious how far along you were when you delivered and how... I am 32 weeks and 5 days and 3 days ago I started feeling awful. I am so exhausted and my entire body hurts. Now don't get me wrong, I have felt this way for most of my pregnancy- but nothing like this. I feel as if I have the flu but I don't. Both of my boys are head down as of last Thursday so I am hoping for a vaginal delivery... But as most of you know it couldgo either way. I feel that baby a is so low that if you looked in my vagina you could see a head. It is so strange. I haven't lost my mucous plug that I know of -- and I would like to make it another 3 weeks.... I know that could be wishful thinking but I just feel so strange. I am sorry to complain I just have noticed a dramatic difference in how I feel the last three days. My OB hasn't checked my cervix or anything and this makes me nervous since I am 33 weeks in a few days. Maybe they had a huge growth spurt which is why I feel so bad? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can't offer any advise, just some support!

As for me, I went at 30 weeks. I was actually getting ready to leave town to drive the two hours away to UNC to go on bedrest and decided to stop for food when, whoosh! My water broke. I was flown from my hospital up to UNC and they performed a c-section.

I was NOT lethargic before labor, though. I had crazy amounts of energy! It was Christmas and I shopped like a fool at the day after sales! I'd already lost my mucus plug at that point (in hindsight anyway, L&D told me I was fine when I'd gone in to be checked). I was very swollen and had diarrhea (sorry, TMI!). I also had very, very bad lower back pain.

If I were you, I would take it very easy from here on out. If you're not feeling well, it may be your body asking for a break. I often wonder if my OB had been on-call during my L&D visits if I'd have been put on bedrest sooner, held on to my daughters longer, and had a shorter/no NICU stay. There's no telling, but it's always nice to know you did all you could!

I felt great during my pregnancy, but I did hit the wall around 32/33 weeks. I delivered at 38 +1 with an induction, but I do remember hitting that wall and it wasn't fun. I had a 2.5 yr. old to keep up with and I still have guilt over laying on the couch and not being able to do as much as I wanted to with her that summer.

I started to feel that way around 30 weeks and found out my cervix was 1cm long (was 3.6) and that I was 2cm dilated.
I'm now 33.5 weeks and holding on!!! I haven't been checked since as my dr doesn't want to poke around up there and start things going even more. (Yet I am DYING to know if I've progressed any further) but I was still feeling OK-ish.

And the past few days I have been feeling super sleepy, uncomfortable no matter what position I am in, etc. So I hear ya! It stinks!!!!! Esp in the evenings - I am like ok babies, come on out. lol. Even though I know each week is better for them to stay in and grow, so I do want them to stay in! :) FX for you that you start to feel a bit better soon!

I was 34wks and delivered vaginally. I had been on bedrest for 6wks prior due to a shortened cervix. Good luck to you, I would take it easy as well and rest up before babies arrive:)

My 'wall' was at 36 weeks. That was when I started to feel bad. I had a scheduled c-section (twin A was breech) at 37+5. I was apparently in labor but didn't realize it. I hope you make it a few more weeks!

I delivered by c-section at 36w due to pre-eclampsia...I actually worked until the Thursday before I delivered (doc took me out of work that day - that Friday I had actually designated as my last day of work due to being uncomfortable)...they tried to induce me but my cervix was tight as a drum...

I delivered at 36 weeks but was on bedrest for 6 weeks previous. I was planning on vaginal and went into labor when I went off my meds but ended up with a csection. Good luck making it longer. If you are still worried, ask for a cervix check and even a fFn test.

32 weeks was the turning point for me as well. I started getting SUPER uncomfortable! I would take baths as much as possible and my mom would come over and give me massages. IT's a hard time but you are sooo close! I delivered at 36 weeks 5 days.

I am trying to get my dr to do a NST, as he keeps telling me that I don't need one since I am uncomplicated. But for me I think I want to know what's happenning! I have been anxious since day one and I am getting more nervous as time moves on and I am feeling them less. Thank you all so much for your responses!!!!

I delievered at 37 weeks 1 day by c-section. My baby A was breech and my baby B Transverse. I went on bedrest at 24 weeks for PTL. I started feeling crappy around 32-33 weeks.

I delivered via scheduled C-Section at 37 weeks and 5 days because both babies were breech. I had a different experience than most twin moms - my pregnancy was smooth, I had a big stomach but I was still energetic and able to function without any pain or major discomfort. I worked until the week before the birth and I even drove my car on the day of the delivery. I slept OK, but it was hard to turn in bed in the last few weeks. My OB never checked my cervix because he said he didn't want to bother things around there. I had no sign of labor when I went for my C-Section, I think I could have made it longer, but my OB didn't want to risk me going into labor and maybe a cord slipping out since there was no head to block the way.

I hope you make it as long as possible and I hope your twins avoid NICU and go home with you. My advise is please make sure you rest before the birth. You will know what I mean after :). Another advise that I would like to give you, please make sure you drink tons of water. Whenever you feel like you had enough water and you can't stand the sight of it... just drink another big glass, and then another, and then another. I remember I was pouring water in me in the last few weeks and it was helping me feel better and the cramps were going away. I am sure you drink a lot anyway, but just in case, I added that too.
Good luck and hang in there!

I felt exhausted from about 33 weeks. Just big, uncomfortable and worried. We delivered at 37w 4d vaginally. Induction due to pre-e symptoms. I had an awesome friend that would come round EVERY day and tidy my house. She would spend a half a hour massaging my feet and chatting about life. It was exactly what I needed. Try to relax, put your feet up as much as possible and if you are worried chat with your dr. Keep on cooking those babies if you . Good luck

My wall was also around 32/33 weeks. I delivered at 38w3d, spontaneous labour after getting a stretch and sweep 1.5 days before (I was huge and uncomfortable and figured 38 weeks was pretty darn good so I wanted to get on with it :)). It was Christmas/New Years my last couple of weeks and that was something to distract me also DH was home to help with my 2 year old so I could relax a little. No one checked me until I was 38 weeks exactly...I was curious to know what was going on at that point (if anything) but no one wanted to do anything before that for fear of getting things started earlier than they needed to be.

My girls were born vaginally, without an epidural. A was head down when my labour started and B was transverse but came out head first (although posterior) as well. The last few weeks can be tough but every extra day they're in there makes them stronger...GL!!!!

I was 37w5d. My water broke and they were born on labor day. I took the calcium/ magnesium supplement until 37 weeks at which point I tried handing the babies their eviction papers. My stubborn son A wouldnt budge, though, and after 4 days of walking, sex and everything I could think of (the exception being rubbing my ankles; I couldn't find anybody who would do that and I couldn't reach them) I gave up. Then the next day my water broke. :pardon: they were delievered by csection that night due to a being breech.

I vividly remember hitting my wall. Carrying 2 babies I think your body is full term when the babies aren't which can make things dreadful for you. Distraction, baths and sleep are key. Netflix instant is great as well as pampering yourself. When your babies are born you will not have time for a hair cut or pedicure for a long while. Why not schedule some of those things now?

You are right, it could go either way and it could happen at any time! I had a seamless pregnancy with only a little discomfort in my ribs but I was just exhasted! I was sure I was going to go earlier than I did but I apparently had a uterus made of steel and a cervix like a vault. With that being said, I delivered at 38 weeks, 5 days. I went in for an induction because baby A was starting to lose weight and I developed a sever case of ICP. So, I was induced knowing that both babies were head down. After 21 hours of active labour and hours of pushing, it all came to an end with a c/section.

Keep it up mama...you are doing a great job!

I'm glad to hear that many of you "hit a wall" too during your pregnancy. Well, not glad that you hit a wall, but glad I'm not the only one. I hit mine right after the 3rd trimester started. It's so true what a pp said about our bodies being full-term, but our babies aren't. For most of us, our bodies have never been this pregnant before. It's crazy to think this is the biggest I've ever been in my life. I'm lugging around at least an additional 1/3 of my normal body weight and taking care of 4 kids, no wonder I've hit a wall!!

I homeschool too and I sometimes feel guilty about not making school more fun right now; we pretty much just go through the motions. A pp mentioned feeling guilty as well with her daughter, but I just remind myself that this is just temporary and this season of life will pass; enjoy it while you can.

32 weeks is huge, and its about the time I was really uncomfortable!!
I went on bedrest for preterm labor at 31 weeks and delivered at almost 36 weeks, that was a looooong 4 and half weeks!
I delivered vaginally, heck after that pregnancy and feeling so uncomfortable delivery was easy easy!! Ha!

I'm not sure about the wall yet, but many mornings I feel like it!! I am getting over a cold too...so I am hoping that I will have a bit more energy in a few days. Homeschooling has become another chore....I have given up on making it fun  I'm measuring 40 cm now so it is the biggest I have ever been too! For the most part I have had had an easy pregnancy; no swelling, BP is great, etc., I am just sitting in the recliner more often' frequently doing school with my feet propped up too! Right now I just want to go back to bed and let the kids continue playing with legoes instead of making the oldest two come down and do school.....

One of the things I remember most about those last weeks was going straight from being worried my twins would come too early to worried they'd come too late. for what it's worth, sometime in the 32-34 week period my belly very noticeably dropped. Which got me worried labor was around the corner. But after two weeks or so, I went back to riding high and did feel better. There's hope it'll be the same for you!

FWIW, 36-38 weeks flew by for me, and then there I was, over 38 weeks along and no sign of labor. None at all, barely dilated, effaced, etc. I tried everything, long walks, nipple stim, etc. Ended up using castor oil, which did work for me. Vaginal delivery, epi-free at 39 weeks on the dot.

However it goes for you, good luck!

Delivered @ 35 weeks and 6 days. Spontaneous labor, elected c-section. I am a teacher so I was literally wiped out by the time I delivered. I tried to stay off of my feet as much as possible, but it is virtually impossible to not stand up and walk around. I was literally in tears the day before I delivered wondering how I was going to go back to school and continuing teaching (I was headed back the following Monday from winter break). My pregnancy was not terribly hard until around 30 weeks, then the swelling and aches began. I was getting up at 5 in the morning and not going to bed until 11 or later most nights and not sleeping well, so I was done by the time I went into labor. I wish I had been able to take some weeks off and rest before delivery, but it just wasn't possible.

Im pretty sure I hit my wall about 33 weeks, I KNEW that if they were born then, they would be fine, and after that I was DONE!

I went in for an NST/regular check up... having mild contractions on the way there.... which was SO NORMAL for all my pregnancies... got there and joked with the MA about what I had to brib my doc with to send me over to L&D...and the sec she walked out the door my contractions hit me every 4 min like that... doc came to check me 30min later, I was at 4cm...had them 5 hours later vaginally in the OR...6.4&6.8lbs at 36weeks+5days...we went home 24 hours later, no NICU...babies were nursing like champs when we left... hang in there as CRAZY as it sounds... I miss my preggo twin belly :(

I was on Hosp bed rest from 31 to 32 weeks. I was sooo uncomfortable and in a great deal of pain in my back and hips. I also had baby a very low and engaged and I was 3 cm dilated and 70%. I went to the Dr. at 35 weeks and was 4cm and 90%. I went into labor natural 3 days later and from first contraction to first baby out was 1 1/2 hours. She came head first, Dr had to break my water and pull baby B out feet first. My labor went so fast by the time we got to the hosp that I had no time for an epidural. In fact I was pushing A out as they were getting an IV in my arm :) Both babies came to the room with me and home with me 2 days later! I hope you can make it a few more weeks. If my babies had not come when they did I was going to beg for induction at my next appointment. Keep them cooking a bit longer to lessen or avoid NICU! It is very hard but very worth it! :youcandoit:

41w5d Unmedicated, vaginal delivery with a midwife after a failed induction at 41weeks.

I was miserable the entire pregnancy. I actually requested an us early in my pregnancy because I *knew* something was wrong. I gained 130#.

I have (almost) forgetten the misery of that pregnancy but am always thankful for big, healthy babies. Hang in there as long as you can!

I had my girls at 36w 2d. Just had a back ache, so went in to be checked out. Come to find out, I was 4cm and contracting every 2 minutes. 5 hours later, the girls were born. Vaginally in the OR. Tenli came out at 7:17 and Karli followed at 7:17.....she flipped breech during labor and that is also how she came out. Dang, it's hard pushing a breech baby out, but must not be too hard since she was born 1 1/2 minute later. :) They both weighed 5lb 15oz and still weigh the same to this day (15lb 1oz at 5 months). WOW! It was the most awesome experience delivering twins! I think there was 15 people in the OR that day-hehe :) Don't you love your crotch to be on display??? hahaha. Hope things go as well for you as they did me :)

Misty - your house definitely sounds a lot like mine! And how neat that we are so close with our due dates! I measured 41cm at my appointment yesterday! Very healthy pregnancy. I have pretty much moved school to the couch and there is lots of Lego building here!

I also homeschool... and during the pregnancy we did ok, but since the twins were born on 11/28 all our DD did was read and flash cards. Now since the semester has started I am trying to get back into it, but I am soooooo tired that I can hardly see straight or think straight enough to do school with her.... any ideas?

Mine were born at 31 weeks, 3 days vaginally.

I felt great until suddenly at 28 weeks I was spotting, they admitted me to the hospital and I spent the next 3 weeks on bed rest. Water broke 2 days before I went into labor.

And by felt great, I mean GREAT...like nothing could stop me, I live in Vancouver so during the Olympics I went to concerts, walked around downtown during my lunch breaks, took in a hockey game and literally held my breath during the gold medal men's hockey game. DH and I joke the Olympics are why we had them early!!! But seriously we learned a lesson, make sure you take care of your self please, don't over do things...I know hindsight is 20/20 but if I wasn't so active I may have lasted a couple more weeks.
