When did you get rid of your strollers?

How old were your twins when you got rid of your strollers? Mine are collecting dust in the garage, but I don't yet have the courage to get rid of them. We've used them in the past 6 months only a handful of times (trips to the zoo and museum), but I worry that I will get rid of it and then wish I had it. I know we will be making a trip to the museum over our 2-week break, so they aren't going anywhere too soon - but I'm just curious as to when others got rid of their strollers and didn't miss them at all?

    Thanks! :)

I am wondering myself. We still have ours, but we don't really use them even at the zoo. We bought cheap umbrellas for our trip to Disney next month because the tandem and SBS were too big. I'm thinking of selling my tandem and just keeping the SBS for awhile.

We haven't used ours except for a handful of times in the last couple of months. I had DH take ours out of the garage and put it into the shed until we get rid of them in the spring.

I have been wondering that same question. We took ours to the zoo last October and used it maybe 10 minutes out of the 4 hours we were there. Before that I can't remember the last time we used it. I'm not sure I'm going to get rid of it at the Spring sale but definitely the Fall sale next year. We have a BOB and I loved it so just in case thought another year (they will be 3 1/2 then).

I am wondering the same thing. We are not using it very often. I do keep the tandem in the car (and also the umbrella ones in the car...too lazy to take them out) as well, just in case if I have to take them on a long shopping trip by myself.

I think after age 3 we used it maybe a couple times. It collected dust in the garage, then I freecycled it. Any time we did need a stroller, like an amusement park, we just rented one.

We sold ours around age 2 and bought a wagon to use for the zoo and museum.

We got rid of ours between 2.5 and 3. I dont remember exactly when but the boys were born in december 2005 and by end of summer 2008 it was gone.

Still a lifesaver here, even if it's just to use as a threat when the kids don't listen when we go out. I really can't imagine going out alone with them without a stroller either... they're all over the place and we lost DS at the mall 2 weeks ago...

We just sold the SBS last week (I don't remember using in the last 6-9 months). The tandem was sold last winter. We have two umbrellas, but haven't used them since spring. My kids just aren't the stroller type.

My boys will be 3 in two weeks and I still use it every now and then. If we go to the zoo or the mall, I will throw it in the car. For me, I find it much easier to push a stroller than pull a wagon. I also use it if I take them grocery shopping and I know in advance the store does not have double or car type shoppping carts.

I'm pretty sure I will sell it over the summer.

I made Chris move ours to the attic to make room in an extra closet. I don't think we've used it at all in the 9mth-year. Seriously at all. So I think I will just move it up to the attic and wait until someone needs it. I might get a really cheap umbrella stroller for those just in case situations. But they would rather walk when we go to the zoo or aquarium usually, so we might not even do that.

We didn't use our Bob much after Cricket and Piper were 2.5, just a few trips through airports. The stroller lived in the back of our car but they preferred walking at the zoo and aquarium, and where we live there aren't sidewalks, so the stroller was rarely used. We finally sold the stroller four months after they turned three. Easiest $350 I've ever made on a used item! (I put the amount in for anyone considering a Bob... net cost to me was only $180 for almost three years of use since the going price near me for a used Bob was so high)

When Annabella was born, the boys were 19 months old. We still had the double stroller, but only one of the boys was really able to use it because of the baby. And we were mostly going to parks/zoos with dh, so there wasn't a need for the double stroller. I finally got sick of lugging the double stroller around for ONE kid...lol...that we went and traded in the double stroller and got a single at a second hand shop.

After all that, I would say right around 2 years old, a little older, was when we ditched the stroller. We do have a wagon, so if we go to fairs, etc we still will bring the wagon for long periods of walking.

On a side note... I have my brothers old BOB stroller. It's a double, but the front wheel doesn't swivel. It's definitely not in new condition...now I wonder what I could get for that...

Age 4.5 for us! We sold the Maclaren this summer after taking it on vacation "one last time" and not using it for anything except to haul backpacks through the airport (although I admit that was nice). We still have the Mountain Buggy, but only used it a few times this summer. Sarah would probably ride in the stroller till she's 15 if she could, but even she recognizes that she is simply too tall. :nea: I will miss the stroller era though. I find it much harder when they walk.

I've hardly used mine the past year and this summer we got rid of the last single (at 3y8m) or so. We would sometimes still use them for travelling, especially at airports, and very busy cities with dangerous traffic (like Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, etc.) but other than that no. We took them to Singapore in March (3y4m) and they just walked.

Around 3 1/2 because it hadn't been used in 6 months. We used the wagon at the zoo and umbrella strollers for airports. I got rid of those recently too.

My husband wants to get rid of all of them. We haven't used the single strollers for almost a year, but I still wonder if there will be a use for them. I want to get rid of the double stroller because it's just too heavy. I can't push both the single strollers alone, but thankfully, my husband has been with me on just about everything. I just won't go anywhere alone with them if it's for a long period of time where I might need the strollers. We are about to go to Miami for Christmas and my mother warned me that the airport there can be a VERY long walk from the terminal to baggage claim and it may be wise to bring the strollers. There's a train that can also take me from one place to the other, but it can be crowded this time of season although fun for the kids. So I'm not sure what I want to do. But I don't think I'm ready to get rid of the strollers just yet.

Stopped using the strollers when the boys were 2.5 and sold them when they were 3ish because we hadn't used them. I'm getting ready to get rid of my singles because DD hasn't been in a stroller in about a year...she likes to walk like her brothers.

OMG, that's Ainsley too. She got stung by a wasp twice on her foot and ankle at fireworks on the 4th. We stuck her in Caleb's stroller to get her over to the first aid station since she couldn't walk and was hysterical. Later, she said that was her favorite part of the whole July 4th festivities, getting to ride in the stroller.
