Ok I just have to vent. It seems that every time we take a step forward we take three steps backward. DD was a horrible sleeper, bi in the last week she not onlystarte doing better, but going to sleep on her own. However, DS who was going to sleep on his own is suddenly screaming at bedtime. I can't rock him, or anything to calm him down. Plus he wakes a lot during the night. We thought the formula issue was fixed (dd with reflux). After a month on soy, and doing great, she started cramping with gas. Now we are back to square one there. Plus she was drinking 6oz for a while but in the last three days or so she starts crying after two oz. I'm lucky if 20oz a day!!I just want a break wig it all. I want something to go right and stay that way. I go back to work at the en of the month and at this rate I don't think I will be able to function at school (teacher).
Maybe your DD needs to be upped with her relux meds? Could be she is allergic to soy too, it is a common allergy. As for your DS, it sounds like his ears might be bothering him. Have they had a cold recently? Could be teeth too. It does get better, I promise
If she has been on soy for a month and you are just now seeing problems, it is probably not the soy - our boys have soy intolerance and they only have to get hold of one small thing with soy in it and they are miserable for two days (which is the main reason I am keeping them off of adult table food for now because soy is in SO much). I'm more inclined to think it is an ear infection or teething - I would visit the pedi to have ears and throat checked, and try some tylenol to see if that helps with possible teething. You didn't say how old they are and if they get any solids - it could also be related to a new food you have introduced if they are getting solids. For example, if you recently added dairy, it could be dairy intolerance.
I feel as if we are in the same boat! My girls are 6wks and one of them has been miserable since the beginning. I finally had enough a few days ago and took her off of Neosure and put her on soy. I took her to her doctor the next day and he thought it was a virus. So I followed his instructions and we were good for 24hrs, then she projectiled again. So we are back to square one...screaming/crying baby for 6hrs now...some of those times I had to blow in her face or hit the bottom of her foot to remind her to breath because she was so upset. She is still not asleep and she is in my arms now. I don't know where to go from here because I thought we had it taken care of. I am a teacher too and will be going back in a few wks...I hope to get this figured out or not sure how I am going to function either.
I agree about the possible ear infection for your DS... they are often worse at night because of the pressure when they lay down. As for your daughter, maybe ask your ped about nutramigen or alimentum. Those are hypoallergenic formulas that are often recommended for reflux and for milk intolerance. And hang in there... it does get so much easier! I promise you! ncrawford... I'd get your LO back to the dr. and talk about the screaming. It could be a lot of things; reflux, milk/soy allergy.. has she got any other symptoms?
Do they have fever? If so, it might be ear infection.I'd take them to doc anywa, they are young If ear infection is ruled out, then it might be reflux, gas (milk/soy allergies). You can try enfemilk gentlease (its cheap), but I promise similac alimentum will do the work.my twins were off neosure at 3 months because of gas and reflux. We tried other formula but finally we settled down with alimentum and I had to cut out all diary in my diet...at 7 months we switched them to similac advanced. They didn't like it and my girl started puking...now at 8 months, they are on goodstart protectplus and I can eat ypgurt, cheese again yikes!!!
Well its not an ear infection with DS. We went in yesterday. He is very congested so I'm thinking that's his problem. He had a great night last night. He slept until 4:20, ate, and back down. Maybe he is getting better. I did give him Tylenol before bed. I'm wondering if he is cutting another tooth. As for Allison, she does have reflux. We are on previcid for that it it helps with pain. We tried alimentin and nutramegin but she will not take it. I tried each one for three days and in those days she would barely take 10oz. I call her my high maintenance princess b/c if she doesn't lie it she will starve before eating it (bottle not the right temp, med to strong). We are back on soy and will deal with the results of that (constipation and gas). I just jeep telling myself that it gets better with time. And pray for patience each night before going to sleep!!
