FINALLY! The kids both have their own version of the word "shoes"! Miles says "sha" and Austin says "shz", but they both said it spontaneously and independently. :yahoo: . They also both learned to sign "more" in the last couple of weeks.

Phew.. maybe this is the start of speech!! At least it's progress!

YAY!!! At 18 months is when my girls started saying words, then at 21 months their vocabulary exploded. Now, they never stop talking! LOL I miss the quiet. ;)

Does "mum-mum" count as a first word? Seriously, though, I went over the jar that holds the mum-mums today to give them one during their snack and as soon as my hand went in the jar, Michael started saying "mum-mum-mum-mum-mum-mum". Also, he said "ba ba" a few days ago when I got out his bottle - this morning as I was changing him before feeding them, he did it again. But I don't think that really counts either??

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. You WANT them to talk?!?!?! Are you CRAZY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? :slap: :rotflmbo: Do you know what you are asking for?!?!?!?! LOL!

This I ask of course as I drove the ten minutes from my mil's house to our house listening to, "Mama! LOOK! LOOK! Lights! Did you see dem mama? Mama! LOOOOOOOKKKKKK! Christmas lights!!!!!!!! Christmas is coming! Mamma! Anthony hit me. Tell Anthony! Anthony, we no hit people. STOP IT!"

Anthony: "I don't yant yocks for Chismas!"

Nicholas: "Mamma! LOOK!!!!!! I see a snowman! Did you see him? Look! A snowflake! Did you see it mama? It's almost Christmas time Mama!"

    Need I say more?!?! :spiteful:

    Bwahahahahaha!!

It's great though. My boys didn't speak until well after two, minus ball, dog, and duck. Annabella on the other hand, probably had her first word around 13/14 months with baby. Now, she probably has a good twenty, if not more. It's really exciting to listen to and watch her vocabulary grow. Yay boys!!!!!

So awesome! And I agree. While I worry about the twins speech being delayed a little, the way my soon to be 6 year old talks, I like how quiet they are. Because this will be me when all 3 are talking

YAY! Way to go boys! I do agree though, enjoy the blissful sound of silence (or at least lack of babbles). My oldest was a slow talker, my MIL used to say "I sure wish I could understand you, I sure wish you'd talk." He's not almost 9 and literally NEVER.SHUTS.UP! And he has to finish telling you whatever is on his mind, even if you say "Hang on Sean, just a minute Sean, wait a second Sean, I understand Sean...." doesn't matter, he's gonna finish what he wants on his mind!

The bonus is that they will say the *funniest* stuff; make sure to write things down or get them on video tape when you can. :)

Congratulations! I love this phase when the "real" words come tumbling out of their mouths in many variations, some easily recognizable, some only with a lot of guessing. It is also a lot of fun how you can hear sound changes in the words and figure out how different languages developed in the same manner.
