The boys occupational therapist has asked me to think about getting the boys a table and chairs for Christmas. She told me that she thinks a wooden table would probably last the longest or perhaps a Little Tikes set.

Just wondering what you all have used and what has worked best for your little ones. I definitely want to get something that they will be able to use for a while!

    Thanks!

I would look into getting one of the picnic bench sets either little tikes or step 2. I have a little tikes handed down table and chairs, unless the table is in the corner, the kids just end up pushing the table around, as they try and scoot in and out etc.

We have this set, it's nice because it's fairly small, the chairs push underneath and it sits in our dining room, but it's easy to haul around when we want it in the living room. My 8 yr old can still use it although his knees are hitting the table underneath

And we have this set which is fantastic for having 4 kids, and we've used it for birthday parties and christmas time too! It's simple to set up and take down. It's just a little too big to leave out all the time though for everyday use, plus the twins like to climb up onto it and sit or stand on top of it ;)

And finally, this is the one I'm considering getting next year, with 4 kids the smaller picnic table no longer fits extra kids at birthday parties, and my kids would love to sit at this one outside in the summer. We shall see what dh thinks :)

Oh, I forgot to mention, we've had the first 2 for at least 6 yrs, since my oldest ds was little, and they are still in fantastic shape. There isn't even a stain on the little set, and we've used it for EVERYTHING over the years! :D

My boys adore their P'kolino table and chairs (we have it in white). They've been playing with them now for probably 9 months and though we've had to retighten the screws, it's still in great shape. The surfaces clean up well from food and crayons. They seemed pricey at the time but they've been worth it.

I'm going to suggest the Ikea set chairs Tableto whomever gets my boys names for Christmas this yr, just b/c it'll match their big boy room! There was a set at Costco that I loved but it's not always there. Darker wood table w multi colored chairs.

Both my sets of twins had a simple wooden table and chairs from ikea (similar to the ones Chicklet linked). I really liked them. They were able to move the chairs around themselves and use them to play with (making a train or a den under the table). There was enough room on the table for them to comfortably use it at the same time, and I think it was nice to have wood instead of more plastic. They held up really well-my older girls still have theirs up in their bedroom as an art table.

We bought a wooden set at a.c. moore with a 40% off one item coupon. It was totally worth the price. My husband put a coat of polyurethane on it to keep it from getting too nicked up.

Santa is bringing this to our house:

Along with a ton of craft supplies (I also have a kindergartener & a three-year-old). It's very similar to the Land of Nod table but comes with two sets of legs for a lower price. Has great reviews. And you can find coupon codes on retailmenot.com

We also have the Little Tikes picnic table that Brigette and Danielle mentioned. It's good for crafts and snacks because it cleans up well. :good:

That's a good deal! BUT, it's also the JR one, it's going to be smaller than the one I have, my 8 yr old can barely fit under the big one :) Just wanted to point that out! Still a great deal for little kids though, just might not last as long for them! :D
