Now that I'm starting my on-line Christmas shopping, I'll just keep posting my questions as I go! I was looking to add to the kitchen they already have. It came with some basic plastic food items a couple plates, bowls, cups (2 each) and utensils. I'd like to add in things like a play microwave, toaster, hand mixer, and maybe some more exciting food items, and then maybe some mixing bowls, measuring cups, etc that I can find plastic ones cheap somewhere. Has anyone seen a good all-inclusive set that isn't real expensive? So far from what I've seen everything is sold separatey, and $20 here for a microwave and $20 there for a toaster, it adds up real quick!

Also, any recommendations on play food sets? Plastic? Wood? I figure that would definitely be sold separate from the appliances.

Have you tried Amazon.com? I know they have tons of play kitchen accessories, not sure about what kinds of sets, but lots to choose from. And if you sign up for Amazon Mom, you get 3 months of Amazon Prime free without having to cancel or anything later on, it just expires. So, that means free 2 day shipping on most things (anything eligible for Amazon Prime shipping). I have ordered tons from them recently & have saved so much on shipping charges!

I never found anything inclusive as we did the whole kitchen thing last year. I did get sets of plastic plates, bowls, utinsils in the dollar bins at Target and we still have it all in good shape almost a year later. They also got a big tub of food that came from Target from a cousin with like 50 items or so. They still play with it daily. Just and FYI- I was worried they wouldn't have very much food but we have had more than enough. Mine like the dishes, utinsils and pots more than anything. I gave them our old pots when we got new ones and they are played with the most. I bought a 3 drawer plastic bin thing to hold everything. It was the best idea. We have one for food, one for dishes, and one for utinsils. I went to the dollar store and got serving size things like spatula, ladle, spoon ect. They are a favorite. Also They have the finger tip towels and pot holders that get a ton of use.

Thanks, it helps to hear what items have been hits with other kids. Maybe I'll just get some food, and then stock up on mixing bowls and utensils from target or the dollar store, and then not worry about the more expensive appliance items.

The toys'r us brand, just like home, is pretty cheap... and they have good deals today too. They have one set of play food and one set of utensils, plates etc for $10 each today, and there are a lot of pieces... I think they have a set of mixer/toaster/coffeemaker for sale also, and their microwave is pretty cheap.

I just ordered the microwave from there last night. It was $7, so I was very excited! I was going to get the food too, but then I saw a lot of bad reviews about it being real cheap plastic and cardboard and falling apart really easily.

The food is ok, honestly I have yet to find any good quality play food anyway... but yes the cardboard boxes and stuff are junk. There's just not that many in each set thankfully.
