I was put on modified rest at 29 weeks due to a pos Ffn. Then at 30 weeks 6 days I was put in the hospital being 2cm and 80% effaced. I was there for 5 days and sent home at 31 weeks 4 days. I was very strict the first 2 days. Spent all day reclined on the couch and did nothing else except use the bathroom. I went to the OB 2 days after I got home and was actually longer and had not dilated anymore. Over the past week, I have started to slack on my strict bed rest. I do a little here and there around the house (mostly when I get up to go to the bathroom, or when the stiffness sets in and I have to move) I started to venture upstairs once or twice a day to help my other kids or just change the view! I am struggling so much because my OB does not believe that bed rest will prevent PTL, only keep contractions from coming, which I am on procardia for. So sometimes I wonder why be on bed rest if it wont help anyway? But then I think what if it does? and the guilt and fear sets in. I really am not doing much, I don't cook dinner or clean... tonight I sat at the table while they brought me the stuff to mix cornbread. I am torn... I want to do what is best for these babies no doubt but I have 5 kids at home who need me and I feel like getting up to get my 3 year old juice when my DH goes to get other kids from school is not a big deal but then when I do it I feel sooooo bad. I hated being in the hospital, it was hard on everyone, but much easier to be in bed all the time. I am sooooooo conflicted... I am so miserable and uncomfortable too that sometimes I just want them out,,,, but I know they need a bit more time.

You can do it! You are so close. I remember feeling like you do, and I only had 1 at home! I couldnt imagine being on bedrest with 5 at home. You are so close though, 4 more weeks and these babes could be here.

Oh Momof6... I'm so sorry. Laying around all the time does feel useless. You have to remember why you are doing it and focus on it. It's got to be so hard to have to tell your 3 year old no... what about a cooler with a couple of juice boxes in it that she could bring you to open? It won't solve every problem, but a few snacks in there, too, could help for some of those things you are stressed over. Or have DH take her to go pick up the other kids- not so much fun, but he could stop at a Dollar Store and spend 20 minutes or so with her?

My docs didn't think bedrest was necessary either, unless it was hospital bedrest. I figure if they have you walk to start/continue labor, pressure from walking in someone predisposed to PTL can only be harmful. Plus, what woman is going to participate in a study to figure out if bedrest actually does work?
:youcandoit: I know it doesn't feel like it now, but the days will pass you will soon meet your babies.

PS- if I were closer to the Springs I would totally come over to help with your 3 year old! :)

So sorry, it is no fun. I am not looking forward to being in your position. My current MFM also does not belive bedrest stops PTL (my last one did) but take it easy. YOu are getting close.

Both babies look great... A is head down and B has turned breech.. Still planning a vaginal birth. I am still 2 cm and about 70-80% so the Dr said to keep doing what I have been!!

Glad things are still looking good. Everyday longer is worth it.
