Why do people think they're boys?

No matter how much pink I put on my girls people always ask, "Are they boys?" WHY PEOPLE, WHY? Don't you see they are in pink or purple or are wearing flowers or kittens? I used to think it was funny, but am starting to get really annoyed. I make a point to put them in very girly outfits when we go out just so people don't ask, "ARE THEY BOYS?"

People used to do the same thing with our boys - even when they were dressed in very boy-ish outfits, and I think they clearly look like boys. I think some people are just clueless!!

I get the same with my girls but funnily enough, with my son no matter how much blue I had him in I felt like people were always asking if he was a girl :) My girls were both in dresses the other day and I had someone ask if it was a boy and a girl!

My DD did not have a hair for a long time. Because of that no matter what we put on her, people assumed she was a boy.

My pink-wearing, bald DD is also mistaken for a boy all the time too!

I don't think people look before they ask.. 9 times out of 10, someone will say to me "twins?... a boy and a girl?" when they are wearing the exact same thing! I want to ask them to tell me which one looks like a girl

What color are their car seats/stroller/whatever you have them in when people ask?

People used to always think mine were boys, and I'm pretty sure it was because their car seats and travel system were turquoise and chocolate brown. I got the seats before I found out gender, and I wanted to be able to use them again if I had a boy one day. I thought they were cute. :pardon:

My twins are almost 5, and everyone still thinks Sarah is a boy (unless she's wearing a frilly dress) because she has short hair. Never mind the pink shoes, pink pants, whatever -- people assume a child is a boy unless she has long hair or is wearing a dress. It drives me nuts, but I've given up correcting people I'm never going to see again.

No matter the age, people assume that kids with no hair are boys and those with long hair are girls. I just don't get it. Dani has really curly hair and Lillie has a little mohawk of curls. They always think Dani is a boy, no matter what she's wearing. I've even started introducing her by her full name (Danielle) so people won't get confused. It is definitely obnoxious. It probably doesn't help that their car seats are green and gray.

LOL - i have 2 ID boys - but Sam's hair is a little longer than Luke's and everyone thinks Sam is a girl - they say, "oh, how nice, a boy and a girl." oh, well.

Two girls always in pink or purple...very girly...very much boys according to every stranger that we meet :headbang:
I have now got to the point where I say, would you dress a boy in pink ?

My girls had no hair until well in their 2nd year. I remember one particular incident when we were at a restaurant and a little old man said I had pretty boys and his wife elbowed him and said, "Can't you tell they are girls, they got on pink!" He proceeded to say he didn't pay attention to stuff like that :D

I get it as well. That or they think William is a girl. It's always William too, poor boy is going to end up with a complex by the time he is 2

I get it too! Especially with Emma, the poor baby. Mind you, I think my girls are ID.

People ask me all the time too if the girls are boys. My girls are always dressed in pink or purple, usually dresses, with some type of hair bow on and their car seats are pink! lol

I have two girls, but so many people walk up to me and state, "oh you have one girl and one boy." My new response is, "ok," which my husband finds hilarious.

Had the same problem. It's like some people think twins only come boy girl. My girls would always be dressed the same and they would still ask. I have flat out asked why they think a baby dressed in pink and matching the other baby would be a boy!

Why do people seriously ask if they are twins when they're both in infant seats, the same size, and in matching outfits????

I wonder about that more than the gender question. We get it a lot too though. Like twins only come in boy/girl combos or something. I get annoyed but haven't ever said anything YET. Sometimes I feel like asking if they're color blind. When they say no why I want to say because I figured as much since the babies are both dressed in pink purple and have pink blankets.

Around here people must think that twins can't be b/g. Ever since they were born people would look at them and say "oh two boys?". Yes, we just decided that we would put the boy we don't like in a pink car seat with clothes that have bows and ruffles! And now, Zoe has a very feminine face but her hair still pretty short and people still think she's a boy. It drives me crazy.
