My boys will be 3 in January. For the past month or so, both of them have been doing things that they did when they were in their 2nd year (playing with light switches, doors ect.). We were at the the pedi on Friday for their flu shots and they both were fighting over who could turn the lights on and off and open and close the doors. :headbang:

Same thing goes for tantrums. I was having a really hard time with my one boy and he has gotten a lot better. But this past week or so when I tell him "no", he will throw himself down on the floor and begin to cry as if I removed a body part. Little things will set him off, like telling him it's time to put on his pj's.

Just when I felt things were getting better, they have gotten worse.

Please tell me this is normal? :drown:

Yes, totally normal. And totally frustrating! But hang in there, it will happen repeatedly... those mini-regressions. I just try to keep my patience and hope that my kids remember they're 3, not 2, sooner rather than later.

Ugh I'm glad I'm not alone! And you aren't alone either!!! Mine have just started this back up and I figure they are just testing their boundries again. I'm really hoping once they figure out that they still can't do things, then they will stop and move on

I agree with totally normal, and super frustrating!! :gah: Have you tried 1-2-3 Magic? I also really make a HUGE deal when they are doing things right and try hard to focus on the positive (even though there are days where it seems the positive is very limited!) Good Luck!! It's definitely a hard stage!!

Well, I never really had tantrums in their 2nd year (12-24 months old), but at 2 we did. And NOW at 3 1/2, it's BAAADDDDD!!! But, it will too pass. It's just surviving until then. Seriously, around 4 it's like a switch turns on and they all of a sudden listen more. They are by no means perfect, but they are easier to reason with and understand more of cause and effect.
I keep saying I can't wait until they are 4, just for this same reason! But in actuality I will miss them at this age too. I won't miss the tantrums and mischief though!

unfortunately I have to disagree with you...my son is worse now with who has to be first, pee first, open the door first etc than he EVER was!! As for listening - not a chance in hell that he will listen to me until I repeat myself 23 times and have to scream! 1-2-3 Magic is relatively useless and now when the answer is no he pleads for whatever he wants - and doesn't stop until I give in (which doesn't generally happen, or scream and send him to his room)...

I think the 3's were almost easier...
